  1. Welcome to GLF
  2. I dont know how far they normally go out up there, but i know this year on Saginaw Bay we are going out way farther than we normally do. 9-12 miles has been the norm. When your out that far, whats a few more? Fish are holding deeper here, wonder if it could be the same there? Might be crazy to some, but right at home for others. Obviously you gotta have the right conditions and not push it. Eitehr of which i cannot speak of for these cats on that "pond". But under the right conditions its very doable.
  3. Welcome aboard Dean. Sure has been a snowy cold winter thast for sure. Depsite the cold, the ice realy hasnt got as thick as youd think with the temps. Can thank that darned snow for that....Lots of slush as well....grr...We need a thaw and a refreeze!
  4. Same way in Kawkawlin Franky...Whatta mess huh:rolleyes:...I hate snow!
  5. Tow boat US is well worth it....Trying to remember but i think its 65 a year. Anyhow, the guy at one of our walleye tournaments was there and would tow any tournament boat for free, but was also sellling the plans to boaters and said that the average bill is 450 for a tow.
  6. Hammerings done till i get a sled. Bay is ugly. Without a sled dont waste your time, you will only get stuck and kill yourself getting out. Believe me i tried.
  7. Have fun. I was mate on a charter for close to 10 years and was a blast. Youll meet allot of good folks and have allot of fun along the way. Your going to learn a ton about fishing this summer i can promise you that....and youll always be on the hot bite! Good stuff. Best of luck
  8. That winds really cranking here Ken. Snows just about to start....dang it!
  9. I use soft plastic worm binders like bass fisherman use. Nice small pack, can see what you got. Ive also used a large/deep plano box with each fly in bags and filed in there. Kept them very organized, just had to grab on out to see wha tyou had in that slot.
  10. I cant believe this hasnt sold Tom. Nice fishin boat.
  11. Thanks Ken. Definitely not your typical year. Fish are holding deep and everyone abandonded this side to fish east. I mucked it out adn eventually my hard work paid off. Have enjoyed smoe fantastic fishing. Gosh i love living here!
  12. I concure for a third and its passed into law.
  13. Is it April yet?!?!?!?!?!
  14. Call me crazy, but i cant get enough.....The bay continues to be extremely consistant. Ive enjoyed some fantastic fishing over the last several days. Fishing off Erickson in 22' north of the pack. Getting some nice fish too. Travels tough off the beaten path if your on an ATV. Crack is crossable as well. Just be sure to check before you proceed. Its big water and it can change throughout the day, let alone daily. Do Jiggers, Doodle Bug Spoons, Jiggin raps and Adam Bombs have been consistant producers for me. Took this pic with my flexable tripod. Not sure why i got the fog, maybe cause it was so close to the ice?
  15. Theyre gorgeous Ed. Theyve really been gorging and put the weight on big time. I expect a big fish to take the shiver this year. Man are they fat!
  16. Thanks Matt for not only sponsoring the contest, but for the great products. You have a fantastic selection and its always a pleasure doing business. Siggs Riggs RULES!
  17. Im pissed i wasnt there!...Nice job Ed!
  18. Good call Frank. Im talkign well within the bay...Like Linwood on acrossed.
  19. They were liking the Adam Bombs and Jigging Raps.
  20. Green Dolphin
  21. The bay ice is great. You can drive from one shore to the other. Not too many years you can say that.
  22. Welcome aboard Don. Post some pics of those bruisers you get up there.
  23. The cracks ugly Nels. It has changed yet again. What happend is it got busted up. A section thats anwhere from 3-10' wide busted and got tipped. Its pushed down under the shore side and is now flooded. Tons of slush on both sides of the crack. Other than water splashing everywhere you will have no problems going out. Its the comign in thats the problem as the ice on the shore side makes for a hell of a lip now. You basically have a blunt, 10-15" edge youd contact when trying to cross. And i think if you tried to ease onto it and drive in the water on top of it the piece of ice would just tip and in youd go. I had to look a bit to find a good crossing for my quad. Even then i kamakazied it a bit at WOT.
  24. Fished again tonight. Same area...We iced 13 fish. Getting better.
  25. Yup, darned lucky Ken. That said, its been a very unconvential winter here. We have had unbelievable numbers of shad and the fish are not relating to them. The shad are up tight and the fish are WAY offshore. Most consistant catches are coming out 8+ miles. Very bizzare. Itll only get better as that spawning urge brings them down into the bay. I welcome it, these long rides suck!
