  1. Well, picked the boat up from Augres Marine yesterday and headed out since we were already up there. With the mob over by little charity, but all we pulled were tons of BIG cats and a sheephead and just a couple of walleye in our 3 hour stint up there before heading for home. So after yesterdays poor outing we moved back closer to home to fish today looking for some redemption. Set up around 9:30 am near the end of the channel. Didnt have all the lines in and we were putting fish in the box. Had a mix of legal and sub legal fish. But as the day wore on the fish size increased and the sub legals seemed to disappear. At 12:45 pm we had our 4 man limit. Tossed some fish back so we could keep fishing and in the next 45 minutes we boated another 9 legal fish. Kept our 20 and headed in. Water was perfect today, bugs werent too bad, heat wasnt scorching, good company...couldnt ask for much more. Once we got home, we broke out the propane burner and put some fish in the grease. Added some seasoned steak fries and macaroni salad to complete the feast. What a great way to end the day. Ill get some pics up when i get them loaded on the computer. No bikinis like in Dustins post...Sorry. What worked Speed 1.5 SOG 32# Blood Run Copper in 25',40', 55' segments 1 oz. Inlines 30-45' back 3 oz. BB fished right on bottom Chart beads with either BPS #3 Indiana blades in Lime Chartruese, #5 DB fishing silver blades with chart and green egde with an orange cut throat, or #5 Tommy Harris, Antifreeze blades. 2. Welcome aboard Joe. Your in the right place. Just browse through the posts here and youll learn allot. One of the top sites online for this IMO. Any questions, feel free to ask.
  3. DaT dEr TiS eH wUpiN' Terry! Well done!
  4. Could be a couple things from my experiences. Sounds like a fuel pump to me if the carbs been gone through. Also, make sure the filter on the motor is free of any obstructions. We have a 2000 Evenrude 9.9 four stroke and it would run fine for awhile then run rough and quit once it ran outta fuel. If we pumped the ball it would pick right back up. We thought we had a bad fuel line, primer bulb, bad fuel line on the motor itself, bad diaphram. Replaced all that, put in a carb kit, but still had an issue. There is two small spring valves in the fuel pump and on mine one of of the keepers that holds the spring in came out of the plastic. Just had some little keeper thats pressed into the plastic and it popped out. I got one of those $0.30 locking star washers that was the right size from the hardware and used the same diameter socket and tapped it into the plastic. Those sharp angled serrations turned and cut into the plastic essentially embedding itself into plastic. IMO, it worked better than the factory keeper, which is not available for sale by the way. You have to buy an entire fuel pump which is why we tried this. Have not had an issue since. Been at least 4 or 5 years. Not long after we had another issue. Motor would run great, then after a bit it would run rough and conk out. Turned out to the ignition module. Its located on the front of the motor. Anyhow, its a unit sealed in epoxy and somehow they can develop a short or something over time and when this happens they heat up and fail. Itll run great at first, but once it warms up, its all over. .Its a very easy fix, just unbolt and unplug a wire harness, but theyre a pricy little devil. I wanna say it was $300 bucks when we replaced ours. I believe they have two versions because the first one was problematic. Im not aware of any recall on this part however. Good luck, i know what its like to have a motor frustrating the hell outta ya. Ive been through that this summer with my main. Just picked it up today...Fishing tomorrow.
  5. Awesome job out there. That thing is a hog. Congrats to the lucky angler...That had to be one hell of a battle.
  6. Need some wind to set up the water according to its readings too!!!
  7. Thats why when you have a FB account or any other account you set the privacy settings to friends only that way whack jobs like that cant see your stuff and slander the daylights outta ya. Those people are seriously out there. I couldnt believe some of their "rational" to some of the pics. Looks like anyone that hunts is a trophy hunter if you ask them. Like we kill something only for the hide, anlters, thrill of the kill, mount on the wall. And that the mount is a disrespect to the animal. Unbelievable some of the comments on there. Hard to believe someone couldnt understand another person mounting an animal and hanging it on their wall to immortalize it so that it can be cherished and appreciated for years to come. Or the closeness that hunting and the outdoors brings to a family. Theres no convincing those lettuce eaters. Thats why its so important for all hunters to stand together as one and not criticize forms of hunting or methods you dont participate/or totally agree with even though they are legal. This is what we're against and is why we must stand together.
  8. Looks like a salmon spoon:lol:
  9. I wonder if its a Producer? i know they made some spoons in addition to their cranks
  10. Aint life grand. Has a bad habit of making plans while your making plans thats for sure. I wish you well on all accounts, most importantly your health.
  11. It amazes me the nerve that some people have. Its easier to take than work hard and earn it i guess. How do some people sleep at night?
  12. Never a complaint when coho come into the boat. Well done sir, sounds like a nice way to end your day.
  13. I like to fish a mix of glow and non glow and give em what they want. And i definitely agree, too much glow can be a bad thing. Anything super glow i have gets charged at the dock when i leave and is good for the morning.
  14. Congrats on the boat and your retirement. And welcome to the site. cya on the water
  15. We may need them, but be careful what you wish for cause you might just get it. Personally, i could do with it if we get them in moderation, but we dont need hot water pushing the cold down deep like we've had in the recent past. It gets old running riggers down 160 and running dipseys 250' back on wire or running ungodly lengths of copper or lead core. I like getting them on riggers in the top 100' , 150 back on dipseys and on 3-5 colors of lead or short segments of copper...can i get an amen!!!
  16. If you read my post i never made any mention of work visas. I only expressed my views on whats happening on the water. And as far as hockey...From the bottom of my heart...LETS GO RED WINGS!!!!
  17. Ya have a couple good teams(Montreal and Vancouver), one really good, they just havent learned how to win when it matters most. The Sedins and Luongo were a big let down IMO in addition to the many injuries on the back end for Vancouver. Plus, Thomas was just sick in goal for the Bruins!!! Theyll be back, and im sure theyll win a Cup. Should be interesting to see how free agency shapes things up in Vancouver. Particularly with the Cap increase and the Wings needing a d man. Would love to see them pluck Bieska from the Canucks!!! Hockey aside, being a Canadian, wouldnt you agree that confiscating someones boat and a big fine like because they didnt report to a canadian port that theyre fishing in canadian waters is pretty harsh. I mean, other than that, he didnt do anything wrong. Had the proper licensing to fish there. Why not a simple warning and your on your way? I think thats the issue people have here amongst the whole reporting thing being lame to start with. Ive been to Canada fishing and outside the "snippy" border guard in the booth, my encounters were all good with Canadians. The owners of the resort were first class and the fishing on Rice Lake was equally good. Not to mention i got to watch the Wings advance from the conference finals to the cup finals while i was there that year.
  18. Silver Horde is by far the most productive for me, second is the original J Plugs. Dream weaver originals and mooshines have not produced well for me at all. I have not tried the new Dream weaver copy of the ace high, so i cant comment on it. Tough to go to them when the ace highs work so well.
  19. Welcome to the site. Thanks for the links...What a bunch of b.s. theyre pulling over there.
  20. Nice job Aaron. My buddy was fishing yesterday and pulled 7 as well. Said the bug hatch was really hopping and fishing was tougher than it had been.
  21. Great job. You sure had a busy weekend....Holland and WFW event on Sag Bay...Well done sir
  22. Welcome to the site Lonnie...and nice report.
  23. Nice job Ed. A friend of mmine was over in Ludington and boxed 1 fish Saturday. Buddy Jay hit Manistee and caught a lone King. Doesnt sound like fishing was too hot, so id feel pretty good about 4. Both these guys are pretty good fisherman too.
