Hey guys, my buddy Joe's friend had his trailer stolen today at the end of Linwood Rd. in Linwood, MI. Heres a post he's put on a few other sites. I wanted to put it out here and on a few other forums to see if we cant catch the scum and get the trailer back. Any info please PM me and ill forward it to Joe. Thank you. Heres Joe's post. I know this is a long shot, but figured it might be worth posting anyways. A friend of mine just called me from Linwood Rd. He was parked on the ice for no more then 45 minutes and his trailer was stolen. His cousin seen his veichle and called him to let him know. The trailer was a 2 place snowmobile trailer. Had a black snow/slush gaurd on the front of it. I believe he said the make was Caravan. Spare tire on tongue of the trailer w/cover. Trailer was attached to a black Jeep Comander. If anybody might have seen something and can give a discription of any possible suspects please send me a pm. Thank you, Joe

What a dandy!...I honestly think Saginaw Bay is on the verge of producing one of those giants. With all the excellent recruitment we've experienced the odds are defintiely up that a fish can live long enough attain that size. And with all the big fish being caught for the shiver, it seems like a good indicator of things to come. Been allot of nice ones caught out here, but not many that i consider GIANTS! Would love to see the day when we can rival a fishery like Bay of Quinte again.

Thanks Frank...see, am going easy on em, even switched species.:lol:

I dont see why not. Frank, I went easy on em last night. The dirty buggers moved on me, but i finally found em late....then they dissappeared. I iced 2 and lost 1 along with a beauty of a lake trout. Measured between 32-33"...wouldnt hold still and i didnt want to hurt it. Dad caught 1 and my new friend Al from another board landed 3. Take the guy to the spot, drill his hole cause his auger puked and he outfishes me....Something wrong with this picture. We didnt catch allot of fish, but boy did we have fun. Enjoy

Had another fantastic morning. Headed out to the same spot as i fished last night. Infact, i fished the very same hole. Had fish in right away. Caught one then had a lull. I adjusted my presentation and got em going. I ended up landing 9 fish this morning. Lotta fun. Hopefully i can catch em again sometime.

Thanks Frank....Fishing sure is fun in April. Cant say thats a bad thing to look forward to. Lots of fish and big ens to boot.

...another great evening on the bay. Fish moved from the area ive been fishing. Made a couple moves and that produced a couple fish at each hole. Ended up landing 4 tonight...Lotta fun again.

Genz worms are a horizontal style jig. And if Dan rigs them as i do, he hooks them in the last third of the minnow. This allows the jig to pin the minnow in place. As it swims off it carries the jig off to the side, then the weight of the jig swings the entire bait back to center. Works great...I like to run mine about 18" off bottom, but you should adjust it to where the fish want it that day. http://www.lindyfishingtackle.com/tackleshop2/home.php?cat=502

Had another great night on the ice. Was fortunate again to have the fish grace me with their presence. I ended the night landing 8 and losing 3. I released 2 sub-legals and another 19"er. Ran into my friend Chris after the evening fish...He didnt have such good luck. Fate was on his side though and he went home with 5 in the bucket afterall. ...Fishing is great on the bay, so dont forget to spread the wealth. There are plenty of folks out there who cant make it out anymore, dont fish etc...who really enjoy walleye. Hook em up if ya can. So far now, ive kept two limits of fish for myself this winter and have given away or released the rest. One limit has been eaten and i replaced that the other night...Buddy needs some for walleye chowder, so it looks like im out again....better get to fishing!!!

No truer words have ever been spoken...Sure has been a cold winter thus far....Enjoy it! Ive been putting one heat pack on either side of the camera to help pentetrate the heat from both sides. I then take the neck strap and wrap it around them and the camera to keep them tight against the cameras surface. I put it in the case and then place a towel on top of that. I have not put the heat pack against the screen as im not sure if it would cause any damage. I fish outside, so i gotta keep it warm or it wont function at all. Seems to work pretty well that way. Hopefully thatll solve your problems. I know your like me, pics and vids on ice are allot better quality and more meaningful than ones taken in the parking lot. ...oh yeah, ive just been using the standard heat packs, but i can imagine the larger body warmer would be a good choice too. Maybe you could get away with one that way?
-
Nice work Dan. How are you storing your camera? I have been keeping mine in the case with 2 of those chemical heat packs. Been working great for me. Keep pumpin em....Adam

Im glad you all enjoyed the pics. All the fish have been taken it the last week and three days on the Bay...I hate to say it, but there were somemore good days that the camera never got broke out. One of which was a 59 fish beat down. 8 man limit and released 19 more!!!...a night we'll never forget....Whimped out with the snow this morning, headed out here in about 45 minutes...If you keep your fingers crossed and the fish gods smile on us again ill have somemore pics and vids for ya'll. Good luck fishin'...Adam

At the last minute i eneded up chaning my mind after looking at the Drake Waterfowls MST waders. I went with them and was glad i did. My new Drakes held up great in some very rugged conditions. Best pair of waders ive ever owned. The fit was outstanding and so are the features....Now, we'll see about longevity.

Any time, glad you enjoyed them...Wish things werent froze up and season over or i may have a few more. Dont think ill make it out for the late season split because other than one location i know locally, everything else is froze up solid. Not to mention all the snow covering the crop lands...Not many birds around now.....Cant wait for October!!!

Nice job Dan. I got a phone call a couple nights ago. My buddy wanted me to head up that way. I was out deer hunting at the time though. Looks like i missed out on some excellent fishing.

Thanks guys. Sorry for the late post. Been in Georgia working again. Had a three day stint there, plans changed AGAIN!!! so i had to come home early and will have to got back again! But anyways, we got a terrible draw that morning, so we passed and went goose hunting. Well, we shoulda took the results from the draw as a sign because we didnt fire a shot in the goose fields. We saw a ton of geese, but they all flew about a mile south of where we hunted. Still a fun morning laying in the stubble field listening to ma nature come alive. So, in the afternoon it was youth priority in the PM draw, meaning you must have a youth in your part. Luckily my cousin Will got to his mothers when we were goose hunting so we were able to take him out. We drew 8th overall and got a decent spot. We ended up with 5 mallards that night...Lotta fun in the marsh with my brother and cousin. Get the youth involved. If this dont put a smile on your face nothing will. Heres the pics of the geese from the other night as well.

Well, ill start by saying last night shoulda been a good night, but i couldnt hit a darned things. Came home duckless for the first time this season...But i shouldnt have. As we left last night the birds were pouring in, so we were optomistic for this morning. As we came into our spot this morning we didnt kick any birds out which is unusual. I think they musta fed all night with this front coming in. As a result they loafed all morning long. I killed a mallard and a gw about 15 minutes after shooting time began and that was that for the morning...hunted till 10 am. So, tonight we tried field hunting some geese. The farmer by my Uncles just finished taking the corn off, so we thought we'd give it a whirl since the birds have been flying through there regularly. After we set up, it wasnt long and the birds started coming. Unfortunately they wouldnt finish. They worked our spread beautifully, came down nice, but not quite far enough. Then they headed on their way to the SW. Must be some fields theyre working over there. Good news is we did manage a couple birds tonight and didnt smarten' up too many. Even though the vast majority didnt finish, we didnt scare them, so we should get another crack at em. Gonna hunt the game area in the morning. If we get a good draw we're duck hunting, if not, we'll try to rangle a goose or two....Not bad options.

My Uncle and I hunted tonight. Things were pretty slow. The birds didnt move a whole lot and what there was came in spurts. The birds worked our spread but just didnt want to fully commit tonight. Seems we werent exactly where they wanted to be. We did manage to coax 4 into gun range though and made em pay for it. We ended up with 2 Green heads, 1 Suzy, and a Drake Pinner. Shoulda had another drake, but someone, i wont mention names forgot to load his gun and had 3 wanting to land on the Mojo. I looked about like this after the second loud "CLICK":hunter:...Oh well, 2 of those gorgeous flight mallards will do just fine. 3 curls and neon orange feet.
-
Hunted this morning. It sure was clear and cold. It got cold enough that the water had a bit of ice near shore. There was wind early, but it died down. I though the cold weather would have the birds on the move, but it was pretty slow overall. I took a lone Suzy about 5 minutes after shooting time began. She came in cupped and locked beautifully. Let her have it at about 15 yds...Next thing i know theres a duck bomb headed right for me!...She hit the water about 8' from me making one hell of a splash....Damn the waters cold! Other than that i heard a few shots early and that was that. Gonna try again tonight, hopefully things will get better.

Thanks guys. We've been hunting hard, and Big Al just turned the big 60 on Oct. 1st so he might have been a bit tired...But, he's still going strong....he'll leave most young punks in the dust.

Nice job. Sounds like you had a blast the last few days. I bet ole Martin had a few good stories to tell out in the marsh. I was just working down around Jackson(Albion & Sturgis) yesterday. Went by quite a few pot holes, but didnt see any of his unique wood duck boxes. Next time down ill have to pay closer attention for his work. Our pheasant opener was a bust as well. Never fired a shot, and only seen a couple birds. Our problem is corn though(I noticed most of your corn is harvested). Once its down, itll be on!...Cant wait.

My brother and I headed out to an area that we cut our teeth on shooting wood ducks and the occasional mallard. We headed there because we were a duck short each this morning. We were hoping to kill a couple woodies or mallards to fill out our 2 man limit for the day. We got out because another buddy of ours stopped by. So, we never made it out until 4 or a bit later. We paddle on down to the spot and kick up 6 mallards that were loafing right where we always used to hunt. So, we set dekes up where the birds were and hid on the river bank in our usual spot. Things wer slow so we just BS'ed about this mornings hunt, turkey hunting and old times. Finally around 5:30 pm we were interupted when two woodies came zipping through. Unfortunately we didnt see em until they were in the shooting hole...Problem....our guns lay on the river bank beside us. They came down the shoot about mach 5. They were there and gone...we never even reached for our guns. So, then we started paying attention again. We never saw another bird the rest of the evening. Even though we never fired a shot, it was a great night in the marsh.

Yes sir it is. Although we had a great shoot, i cant say the same for the remainder of the units in my zone. I can count on one hand all the ducks the rest of the fields killed this morning. Our spread just seemed to suck everything in...It was definitely our day, we even drew #1.
