I read this earlier today on another site. I would be P.O.ed to say the least if they allowed this to go on. What a crock of (fill in your own profanity). We finally get the fishery going again and right away commercial people want to take liberties with it. Heck, the DNR hasnt even met its target recovery goals...Come on Dana!

Looks like fun....Bay is starting to rock. Buddy and crew boated 30 fish in a 2 1/2 hours on Friday i think he said. Harnesses and inlines 38' back with gold blades. That all the info i got as i was parked up against an oak trying to coax in a longbeard for my mother...Which we havent had any luck just yet......Damn hens!!! -
Thanks Mike, what kind of termination are you using? I currently tie the knot and would prefer to do so.

Ill be looking for the results on this as well. Getting ready to respool my wire rods and am debating on the 19 or sticking with the 7. I like the idea of more flexibility in the line for handling purposes.

I concur...Always wanted to say that!

I second Linwood Beach Marina. Its a great facility with quick accsess to the water and fish. Should be able to get limit catches within 3-8 miles of the marina. Crawler harness with inline weights and BB will serve you well. I run mostly 1 oz. inline weights behind inline boards, and then 3 oz. BB layed horizontal off the corners with braided line. The heavy weight and thin line make for a steep angle. That way i seldom worry about clearing those rods when a fish is coming in on a board rod. My inline weights will generally be somewhere from 15-45' back at a speed of 0.9-1.3 S.O.G. I normally run my BB so they just tick the bottom on occassion. Sometimes slight higher and sometimes makeing even more bottom contact. Just experiment until you find whats popping. If you have a partner and a 6 rod spread-4 board rods and 2 BB rods you will likely be very busy when you hit a school of active fish. Keep up with the reports or send a PM and im sure one of us can point you in the right direction. -

How many walleyes in your life?

Ive never been asked that either, but its been an aweful lot. Started fishing them on the big water as a youngster(5 yrs old) in 1986 with my Dad and have been hooked ever since. In recent years i have begun to compile a daily log of my trips with the days info including, weather-temp, wind and sunny/cludy/rain etc), water conditions-(temps, clarity, depth), presentation-(lead length, bait type, color, size etc) speed-(SOG), where w/breif description and a GPS coord, number of fish caught both legal and sublegal(also noting big fish), along with a notes section to breifly describe the days events or any other pertinent iformation. Although i have daily totals, ive never tallied them up at the end. Its more important to me for the where, when and what was succsessful or not succsessful during that particular time frame. After a couple years you can look back and see a pattern that holds true from year to year and gives you a general sense of where to look and when to look there. Ill often refer to it if we should hit some tough fishing for some reason. -

Wow, great job with a great box!!! -
Great story and pics EdB. What an awesome season you had. You worked your tail off for that bird. I can definitely appreciate that! Well deserved bird my friend. I just bought a pretty boy decoy off ebay and recieved it this morning. So, this coming week we'll be putting that to use on my Mothers hunt. I sure hope we can get one in and attack it! I kicked a hen off a nest while relocating on my buddies hunt over the weekend. (Which was unsuccsessful when it comes to getting a bird. Let some jakes go. Still a great hunt.) She scared the heck outta us because she was on the back side of a large oak out of sight. She exploded outta there when we came bopping down the logging road. So, after inspection i found her nest between two large protruded roots on the oak...14 eggs in all. No camera. Congrats again on a great bird!

I dont blame you Frank. Weathers been terrible, guys are going and not doing all that well. Might as well wait until things stabilize, the waters clear and the fish get to rocking. It wont be long now and Itll be mid May and we'll be beating fish off the harnesses.

Heck of a gal you got there. Congrats on the pregnancy. You said she gets motion sickness. Try this product out, we used to use it on the charter boat and it works great for our clients. From what i gather there arent the terrible after effects of dramamine and other motion sickness meds. Vita Motion-S http://www.marvgolden.com/health-safety/vitamist.htm

Alright!!!...congratulations to you both. Awesome story and a great bird. Those mosquitos sure have a way of showing up when your most vulnerable and are anything but mercilous!...Thats one reason i like the first hunt soo much better. But, this years wet warm weather has give them a jump start. Good luck hunting, i hope you bag your bird soon.

Thanks guys, it was an exciting hunt. Love turkey hunting. I am headed back down tomorrow night to do some scouting and some calling for my buddy. Hopefully he can get his bird, and then its Mom's turn on May 4....Cant wait!
