Thanks Paul - i’ve only replaced a handful of trebles with single hooks… Mostly on lures that I have two of. So this summer will be an experiment running the exact lure, one with a treble and one with a single. I have gamakatsu single ‘big River bait’ hooks, sizes 2/0, 3/0, & 4/0. Any suggestions on size I should be using?

What is the minimum test / weight you guys use for your swivels?

How many of you have switched out your treble hooks for single hooks on your spoons? Do you feel you have a better hook-up? More hits? Both? Do you feel the same way about switching up on your flies as well? I’m looking at using Gamakatsu #3’s & 4’s… preference on hook size? any and all replies are greatly appreciated!

Just wondering if anyone adds any glitter fingernail polish to their spoon / lures for Salmon trolling. I do this a bit on my walleye lures with decent results, but am hesitating to glitter-up my spoons. Any and all replies are greatly appreciated!

Hello all, Just getting started with this kind of fishing. Got out a couple times last year and did OK, but haven't been doing it long enough to know when the best times of the spring/summer fishing kicks in. Plan on heading out of Algoma typically. I want to reserve a hotel, but I want to get the skinny on when the bite starts heating up. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I just acquired a Lowrance HDS9 gen3. (Which has not arrived yet). Does anyone know if the Great Lakes (Superior & Michigan) are included in their pre-loaded maps? Also, which map chip would you recommend for the Great Lakes? (I have an older Lowrance dedicated GPS that I will be using to allow the new HDS9 to be used primarily for Sonar). Good evening Guys/Gals, just getting started with Great Lakes downrigging. I need to upgrade my current sonar and am currently looking at the Elite-7 Ti2-7-inch Fish Finder with HDI Transducer. Does anyone have any experience with or knowlege of this unit? Suggestions for other units? Any and all input would be greatly appreciated. -srb
