I finally made the switch to electric downriggers. Found a good deal on a pair of Big Jons and have a question or two for you guys that have been using them. What is the purpose of the holes and the adjustment screw on the top of the motor? My first thought was that it was for lubrication but my first throughts have got me in trouble before so I thought I would ask. I've noticed that the newer motors have these holes covered by a sealant of some sort. Also, can I leave these outside on my boat uncovered. Second question...can I release (put them down) using a manual approach...i.e. loosen the nut and let them free spool down. It takes a while to set them down and I seem to get a big lag/loop in my line in front of the cannonball. Any thoughts..all are appreciated. Thanks, Brian
