What's your favorite laker fishing method?
jimbobber replied to dogfish's topic in Salmon Pro's Connection
In the spring ,april til may in close I like to put spoons gold or copper with yellow white or orange on bottom, cus the lakers are keying in on gobies that time of year the rest of the year i like a trash can dodger with a green spin-n-glow on bottom.Bounce the bottom with the ball occasinally also helps. -
Ok A few of you guys wanted me to build you a rocket launcher like mine for your boat but i cant really cus the shop and equipment is not mine ,But a friend of mine wants to make few extra bucks and is willing to make some.So if you want a rocket launcher but dont care about getting a high polished ss or alluminum but just want a nice useable launcher that can go from tree to tree or one that goes accross your boat he can do it. His name is Nick Cornell and his email is [email protected] so if you are interested send him an email. Here is a pic of my launcher on the jimbobber and his launcher on his boat going from tree to tree, his connect to his trees with a quick pin on both sides for easy removal. Thanks Jimmy

Thanks Mike , JP Slammer will be there!!!!

Aaron, the bell housing at the outdrive where the exauhst bellows and shifter cable and bellow come out of the boat, the outdrive conects to it there is a water channel in it ,if the bellow leaks it can get water in it if it leaks thru the housing it would be just like a leak in the bellows.the bell housing connects to the gimble housing which has the gimble bearing in it. I think it could be welded but im not willing to chase the crack around and have to deal with it again,so i found a replacement at a reasonable price. Thanks for the info though.I have a guy that may be doing the dissasembly and reassemble work for me or I may do it my self not sure yet. jimmy

Well went out to the boat this past weekend to start my winter projests, new carpet, new seat bases, new horn, new searchlight, and bow light ect. when i got there Nick say's hey why is there a freeze plug laying on the floor? So i got to looking and apparently I had a leak in my bellow or the gasket between the outdrive and the bell houing and water froze in the shifter cable area:confused: it poped out the freeze plug in the lower unit not allowing any damage there:thumb:but the bell housing has a nice 1" long crack in it! soooooo I have to get a new bell housing (which i located today) and pull the drive and replace the bellows while im at it. This kinda sucks I also need to get a new top for the boat but this may take up that cash for now. I guess next fall i will pull the drive to make sure this never happens again! BOAT..........Break Out Another Thousand!!!!!!!!!! Jimmy:p:o:(

Reel repair question - Penn 49 Super Mariner
jimbobber replied to Always Gone's topic in General Discussion
get it to tunas reel repair in Ludighton he can fix them up. -
Dave, you will find areas that hold fish around Holland all the tiime there isnt lots of structure but there is subtle differences in bottom make up ,sand, mud, and clay ect . South of holland there is a 50' deep troth that has a very nice inside corner on it and north of tunnel there is a spot where the water inlet for the water treatment plant is this has some structure but most imoportantly it draws in cold water off the bottom.also in this area if you go to 50 fow there is a nice drop off and under water point that fish love to hang on you hit this point going south and go on a south east troll and follow into near shore, north of portsheldon there is another troth Im not 100% were this one is at but i have been on it. Mainly you just need to keep marking your way points as you catch fish and you will find these spots to be consistant.I just have a hand held gps and have been using it for 10 yrs now and I now have spots that i just motor to and start getting fish without having to look all day for them. Also network...network...network get info and share info and it will help you find spots but this needs to be a two way street nobody likes to to give info but not get any in return theres lots of fish out there the only time it may be hard or not apropriatiate to give and share info is during tourney times you know how that goes. Just my two cents worth. I have got some software i bought a few years ago that shows botton contour there inst much till you go northwest out out of Holland 31 miles then there is a very nice drop off in 350 to 450 fow but thats way farther than i will go to fish! I like the 3/4" diameter spin-n-glows. You can go north to portsheldon from holland in quick time ,its not that far. Then you still get to use the cleaning station in holland to. Port sheldon keeeps getting shallower and shallower every year and there is lots of weeds .just my 2 cents worth .

if you want lakers go between holland and saugatuck fish 90 to 120 fow. on bottom ( bouncing you rigger weight),slow 1.00 to 1.5 mph at the ball ,with a tin can dodger and a green, fire tiger,or white spin-n-glow abot 24 " behind the dodger. You can catch all the lakers you want all season this way.You can also run flies or cow bells behind the tin can as well but I found the spin-n-glows work the best.

Spring fishing- Late April/Early May- G.H.
jimbobber replied to Hotdog71's topic in Salmon Pro's Connection
I agree with dirty dog,we fish from 20 ft. to 60 ft in april because i never do that well for browns ,we do get lots of lakers right away the first few trips this year they will be in season if you wish to keep some. -
Any one know of a parent child archery league in the greater Holland area, other than chicawa club,They dropped us off from their shooters list for some reason(probly cus we did not have a mebership yet) so my daughter and I are looking for a league. I am also going to explore getting a place to shoot and form my own league if i can get some interest.Any one out there interested ? Jimmy

I got the new probe this year in may and went all season on the same batteries ,never had to change them and i fished 2 to 3 times a week. Also the readings were much more steady with the new probe all the way down to 120 fow. I love it!!! jimmy

Was it gun shot? it is also late archery season. Its to bad some one didn't do a good follow up job of tracking.
