nice Job guys! -
sorry for the late report but here we go. the weekend started with a last minute invite from Catain Don of Tangled mess charters to go out friday eve ( Had to make deal with the devil to cancel plans with the wife but i went lol!) also had Nick Eager ,and Billie along, any way we went out south of holland in 90 fow, started by fishing for lake trout by the time we got to saugy we had caught 11 trout kept 9 and a couple of steelhead, we turned around set up for kings ,sped up ,and the fun began by the time we got back to holland we had 9 kings in the box and we lost a bunch cus we had 5 triples and a quad!! we ended the night with 18 fish in the box with at least another 15 bites, thanks captain Don for a great night! This is a pic of the cooler this is a 150 qt. cooler could have fit a couple more !lol Saturday am i took an old high school buddy out of holland ,fished the same water as the night before but the bait and fish were gone:( so after an hour with only one small king to show for our time we started to fish for trout and quickly added 3 of them 1steelhead and another king so we ended up 6 fer 12 what worked . A tin can and spin-n-glow bouncing on bottom for the trout, glow fire dog on 300 copper took a king, white and green e chip with pickle sunshine on dipsey also took a couple of silver fish. Had a great day with and old friend! url=h[ttp://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/showimage.php?i=6228&c=2] Sunday we decided to try fishin for perch first only got 6 of them in 2 hours so we started to troll . Set up in 85 fow and fished for trout dragging tin cans an spin-n-glows took 8 lakers thru back 2 undersize fish , then we turned back to holland set up for kings but could only muster 2 of them , ended the night 8 fer 14 the kings came on the green, white echip with pickle sunshine flie on dipsey back 175. Had a great weekend with lots of friends!!

ok im going to chime in on this subject i guess, As a small tackle manufacturer i can tell ya its expensive to donate product to such a large tourney. If i did donate i would like the "average Joe" to get them cus the "good fishermen" have their personal sponsors who help them with their tackle. I no longer give stuff to charter captains any more cus when i do i never hear from them again ( even tho they use my stuff) cus they cant becouse they are in with other bigger sponsors. So i just give a little cash when i can.As for the weigh 5 ,,,,,,,,, I am one of those guys who fishes a lot and can put 10 t0 15 fish in the boat but with the weigh 5 i fished for big fish cus it was going to take big fish to win so it was much tuffer to even get my 5 and i did not the first day. But i did get lucky and got that big fish , i was fishing a big fish program but still it was a lot of luck involved . You can say what you want about catching tons of fish but fishing for big fish adds new strategy to the tourney and i like it personally .I think the commitee puts on one heck of a great tourney with great payouts , meals and other events , the more people that enter the more they can raise for the great charitys! If weigh 5 does this than by all means they should keep it that way. Just my 2 cents.

pre fished friday for the michigan steelheaders challenge , we fished 115 fow to 130 fow and every where else without much luck we went 4 fer 7 on friday morning and 3 for 9 in 85 fow for the tourney on sat. went out tonight and fished for a little more than an hour went 2 for 4 in 130 to 160 fow then the storms started to move in so we ran for home. While we were out we caught a 10 lb king that tangled our swr , 250 copper, and 300 copper !!!! lost both coppers but saved the 2 colors of lead. Thanks to all who participated in the mish challenge it was a huge succsess we had 43 boats in it ,the fishing was tuff but there was still lots of fish brought to the scales the big fish was a 17 lb plus lake trout.

Holland has lots of hotels and yacht basin has transient slips for around 35 bucks a night the fishing has been pretty good around here, there is a very good tackle shop south of holland in saugatuck( lakeshore out fitters) that will have every thing you need for tackle, and a west marine in holland for any safety equipment you may nead.If you decide to come down to holland give me a jingle and i can give you a hand , i am prefishing friday am for a tourney so will be out there on that day for sure but i could give you a crash course on the port and on setting up your riggers. Just pm me if you are coming . jimmy vanbrocklin
