  1. Jason, VN. Ya know ya can neva have too many rod holders.
  2. The bay is chucked full of eyes like I have never seen before. 10-40+ FOW. All year classes are all well represented. It should be fantastic for at least another 7 years. Thanks again for the report Steve.
  3. It's always a pleasure to meet another fisherman.
  4. Mike TYVM for the info. Come on over and get some white meat. Ralph, You are always welcome aboard. It was nice to have 3 capable people with me. It makes for an easy enjoyable trip.
  5. I figured it out quickly when you gave the depths. It's a beautiful thing what we have in our backyards.
  6. Don, I want to fish with you. Better yet bring some bimbos over and fish with me. LMAO
  7. Capt. Ken, Good job man. I hope it continues to improve.
  8. It was my extreme pleasure to have Gary K, Tom M, and Ralph S, fish with me today. The action was not overwhelming but steady. We took 16 eyes a nice cat and 2 perch. We threw back probably 10 smaller eyes. We no doubt could have limited but one of the guys had to be in at a certain time. Tom wanted the cat and has fond memories of his Big M. River days. We fished 25-27 FOW on the Inner Bay. Hot color was copper. Our first fish in the box came about 1 minute after setting the first down rod with a 3 oz bouncer with a copper blade harness. It's always a good sign to take the first one with only two lines in. 1.5 MPH going with and against the big waves. I think we did better going against the waves. It must be me cutting against the grain again that did the trick. I stayed on the helm after the initial set up but Tom and Ralph did a fine job at the helm also. Everyone was a huge help on the back of the boat. I love every minute I can spend on the water with true friends. I have met some darn nice people from this site and hope to meet more. No fish for me today. The only thing I have to clean is the cooler. What a fishery we have in our back yards. We are all truly blessed living in the GLs region.
  9. Sat we probably came withing 3 miles of #1, but not by choice. We kept going against the waves so we'd have a smooth trip back. The inner bay is still chucked full of eyes. TG for this fabulous fishery.
  10. The clicker was in place and a crew member made an actual count at around 15 but a fish may have got clicked twice. It wasn't a big deal.
  11. I'd put SS bolts all the way through with a plastic backer on the inside cut from a cutting board. Seal the holes with the 3M sealer.
  12. Roger L, Joe R, and I took a 3 man limit in 25 FOW on Monday. Bouncers and meat high and low. I had a crew lined up for Tue but the winds were high and out of the East. This Scenario kept me off the water until Sat. I normally don't fish Sat and Sun but he weather shut me down most of the week. Sat. The weather reports were good and the actual off the buoys was OK. We started in 1-1/2 - 2 foot waves that quickly built to 3s with a lot of 4s thrown in. We did manage a 3 man limit pulling bouncers and meat in 25-27 FOW. We also had some bonus perch. I fished with Adam and Jim from the Port Huron area. Sun. I fished with Bill N, Cam N, Dan S. We took a 4 man miscount pulling bouncers and meat. 25-27 FOW with some bonus perch. 19 eyes and 5 nice perch
  13. Nice work Steve. Thanks for the report.
  14. I have a couple of courtesy lights on my aluminum downrigger board. These work well for boarding and rigging lights. http://www.iboats.com/Seasense-L-e-d-Companion-Way-Light/dm/cart_id.333522977--session_id.807922442--view_id.237757
  15. GJ Luke and Tim. GJ Tom. We pulled a three man limit Monday and haven't been able to get out since. I may be forced to fish this weekend just to get my fix.
  16. I use white halogens. You may also be able to put your mast head light up there. Do not use red or green colored lights. They can be confused for the boats navigation lights.
  17. The older folks here will remember the late great Red Skelton. I adopted his sign off line, as my signature in his honor. Although not politically correct anymore, this grumpy old guy don't care. I can remember the day when my folks bought their first TV complete with a lighted panther on top. Red Skelton was a big part of early television. The programs back then were all family oriented. The country was prosperous in the years following WW2. Before TV we literally sat and watched a rather large floor type radio. Priority1 out.
  18. Marty, Thanks for the report. I have heard that the eyes have started their yearly East move. They will seek out a food source and their preferred temps. Come up and fish the Saginaw Bay. Limits are still being taken on the inner and outer bay. The strong NE wind yesterday should have dropped the temps. I'm going to sit today out and try and get out tomorrow and Friday.
  19. I hope if I ever shake a board no one finds or returns it. The ragging I'd have to take wouldn't be worth it. Seriously: Thanks to Roger for finding it's owner. Don is a lucky SOG to get it back.
  20. Jason, Congrats.
  21. Their prices are better in the store most of the times. If you know someone coming this way they may be able to grab some for you.
  22. Don, Check out Northwoods in Pinconning. They have some Okuma Mooching rods, in a couple of lengths, that would make excellent Dipsy Rods. The rods are around $15.
  23. Chuck, I hope you can jump back on this coming week. I enjoy your company and help aboard.
  24. GJ and welcome back stranger.
