The Salmon were planted to control the alewives and have done their job. Now we are all faced with a balancing act to keep the salmon that we love to catch and their primary food source. The DNR has taken some steps in this balancing act and we will see how it plays out. As far as Lake Huron goes when one door closed another one opened. Never stare too long at the closed door or ya miss the one that just opened. Their is still a lot of silver caught on Huron and the mixed bags are fantastic.

Mike, You and I both know that a few little things can add up to a big difference in the catch. The first thing is your confidence in what you have down. Obviously your confidence is in the old Fishlander spoons. I know you'll keep an open mind because confidence can change from one item to another. Just find out what they want and give em lots of it. The only two things I have confidence in is duct tape and WD40. Ohhhhhh!!!!! and maybe a lil red bead. We just have to fish together again soon.

Just a word on boat related repairs. From this time to the end of Summer is the busiest time for marinas and other related businesses. If at all possible it is best to contact these businesses in the Fall and early Winter. You're likely to get things done a lot faster.

Mike, Salesmen are like politicians. They only lie when the move their lips. Sharpen the hooks sticky sharp and return it to the same person.

The sun has UV rays. UV rays penetrate the water deeper than other rays. Fish supposedly see UV different than we do. Lures with UV capabilities are seen better by fish. The UV paint and coatings reflect the UV rays. A lot of the older paints also had UV brighteners. Shine a black light on some of your old stuff and you may see why some of your old favorites seemed to work better than others. Shine a black light on white cloth after being laundered. Most detergents also have UV brighteners.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$. The power is needed on shore. The wind power is a joke. If the subsidies went away so would the wind turbines. They are expensive to maintain.

Nick, I have both flared rod holders and the ones with end caps on my boat. For safety reasons I like the ones with end caps best. I have bumped into the flared ones with my head and other parts. A few years ago I slipped and fell onto my rigger board and a flared rod holder. My chest was sore the rest of the Summer. The plastic caps are a lot more forgiving. I use the Tite-Lok black end caps on the two inch OD rod tubes. The Tite-Lok end caps are a snug fit and don't require any adhesive. They don't come off unintentionally like others do. They can also be used on other 2" OD rod holders. The end caps are about the only thing I like from Tite-Lok. Frank's has the end caps in 2 packs for $8. Just some food for thought and possible replacements for other brand end caps that get lost.

The squirrels in that area may have had a tough Winter. They are survivors and will do what they have to do.

Josh, You're right on with that one. The CG certainly isn't going to make different rules for different States.
