  1. Thank you Bob, Roger, Julian, and Brendon, for sharing your time with me on da Bay. We started where I left off Sunday and took a couple of quick fish and then it got disappointing. We then made a move to an old favorite spot and didn't like what the graph didn't show. Trust your electronics. We never even dreamed of these high tech tools as kids. Made another move and set up on inactive fish and picked up one mo. Made another move to an old fave and Eureka. We couldn't keep the fish off, with most of them going in the box. We put the youngsters to work after waking them up out of boredom. I think the kids had a good time even with three grumpy old men. An old saying goes, "Once a man twice a boy". So we had 5 boys onboard. Gotta love it. Now here is a surprise we ran BB and meat mostly at or near the bottom at 1.5 MPH. 10 Offshore boards with flag kits and two down rods. The down rods had 3oz BB and the boards 2oz. Colors didn't matter and at one time we had 5 fish on.
  2. Sure enough Joe. I tried that spot today with only 2 fish to show for it. I made some moves. I been pumping that area for two months.
  3. Robert, A warm to the GLF site and Bay fishing. Hitch a ride with someone over that way and it will surely shorten your learning curve. I fish the udder side. Mostly AuGres because it's my closest port.
  4. Kevin, Thanks for the report. We fished today and struggled a bit. Made 5 different stops and set lines in three of them before we got on some active fish. Hang in there man. The fish don't mind a lil gas or oil smell. Aftershave and sun tan crap is a different story.
  5. Thanks for the report. Are you fishing the Brown Tourney?
  6. Boone, Thanks for posting this. I copied the thread over to tournaments also. I know it's a good long standing tournament.
  7. Scott, I have never seen the Bay so loaded with healthy looking fish. They are all very well fed and still not aggressive. Fat and lazy are the best adjectives to describe them.
  8. Capt. John, Nice work in the Eastern UP.
  9. Chris (No Neck), Todd (Long Neck), Joe, Scott, and I took 20 eyes in dead calm buggy conditions. We had a good mix of fish. I sure sure didn't need any walleye so the crew got their limit and I was slacking. I would rather fish the Bay's 3 and 4 footers than the dead calm buggy stuff. I do enjoy all my time on the bay and have fished with so many good people. I sure hope to fish with these guys again in more favorable conditions. Purple was good, 1.5 MPH, BB and meat close or at the bottom, over 26-34 FOW. We pulled 10 Offshore boards with flag kits, and 2 down rods. The down rods had 3oz BB and the boards 2oz BB.
  10. J Dog, Work has always been a four letter word. Us po boys have to do what we have to do. I miss the evening trips we did in the past.
  11. Dan, A warm to Great Lakes Fisherman. There are a good people here willing to share.
  12. GJ on the eyes. I hear you on the throwbacks. We were able to avoid the small ones up until our last couple of trips. Our future looks real good. There are still some very good pockets of decent fish. Thanks for the report.
  13. I had the pleasure of fishing with Jessica, Kevin W, and Mike T today on the Saginaw Bay. 29-33 FOW, 1.5-1.7 MPH, BB and meat. Purple, Pink, Glow, all took fish. We struggled a bit today sorting through some smaller fish, but hung in there for a 4 person limit. This make 4 days in a row for me. I think I'll cut grass tomorrow.
  14. Running 60 with 2oz and 55 with 3 oz. Actually that can vary so much with speed, depth, and conditions. You need to get a feel for BB and run them where the fish are. I sometimes will not answer when someone asks me how far back I'm running bouncers. I turn my hat backwards and think differently when running BB. I start to think of the water column from the bottom up and not the top down. Start thinking this way when you run them. Then when someone asks you how far back you'll know they don't understand BB. Just the way I think, upside down as usual.
  15. We had three grumpy old guys and one in training. We took a four man limit catch and a bonus perch. A big THANKS to Chuck A, Bill N, and Joe A, for all the help on the boat and with expenses. 27-32 FOW. BB and meat. 10 Offshore boards and two down rods. Chartreuse, Glow, Purple, and Pink were doing OK. These guys are welcome back anytime.
  16. Bob M, Matt M, Don M, and I hung in there for a tough 4 man limit and 3 bonus perch. BB and meat, 1.5 MPH, 26-34 FOW. We fished in 2-4 foot waves. I'll be out again tomorrow and I hope the conditions let us do what we want.
  17. Jay, A warm to you. Just holler if ya need any help.
  18. Bob M, Tom D, Skip S, and I managed a 4 man limit with a tough bite and dead calm conditions. I was back home about 10 AM. I knew someone who needed some fish so I gave him mine. Down rods were our best producers. Purple, glow, Pink, and red were our best colors. We fish BB and meat over 30-33 FOW trying to stay around the 1.5 MPH. Gotta love what the bay keeps giving. 10 Offshore boards with tattle flags and 2 down rods. Our crew was very versatile with anyone capable of doing any thing.
  19. Kevin, Gotta Love it.
