A Wally World cooler for way under a Benjamin will last over 10 yrs if taken care of and will hold ice well. I drilled some holes in my handle brackets for bungee hooks.

Wed I fished with Larry M, Ralph S, and a new friend Karl M. It was rough and we were forced to just go with the flow. We covered some new water and managed to get 9 walleye and 9 nice bonus perch. Guess who got the perch. Thurs I fished with Larry M, Chuck A, and Mike T. They all got there limit along with a bonus perch but I was slacking. Big waves again today. The weathermen really know their stuff. We ran bouncers and meat both days. Copper, Homemade purple smile, glows, took the most fish. 1.5 MPH with the ocean motion adding to the jerky troll. For the most part the fish are not aggressive.

Brian, A warm to the GLF site. You are lucky to live in Hamilton because of it's close proximity to two Great Lakes. I'm on the other side of Lake Huron. You'll get lots of help with your question. Just holler if ya need any more help.

The world famous EbiJack, Mitch, Pee wee, and I took a limit of eater size eyes with a couple of nice bonus perch. I gave my walleye away at the launch to some less fortunate fisherman, but kept the nice perch for my dinner tonight. We had one little flurry where 5 eyes made it to the box but for the most part the bite was tough and the seas were calm. We needed another 6 or 7 MPH added to the slight breeze. I felt very confident with the caliber of the people onboard. Pee Wee wasn't just along for the ride. That dog can smell fish. Of course Pee wee got her limit also. 1.5 MPH pulling bouncers and meat. Some of the fish came high in the water column but most of the keepers came deep. 2oz off the boards and 3oz off the down rods. Thanks again Tom and Mitch for a slow and easy morning on the Bay. Us old-timers like it slow and easy. Thanks also to Mrs Ebi for the zucchini nut bread. Tom also brought some Spinner Blades and Bands and Mitch supplied some sandwiches. I brought some smoked fish for our smorgasbord. Ya just have to go all in when dealt a hand like this. Copper was our best then purple and glow Chartreuse also doing some damage.

Gj Dan and Pops. Amen to the tough bite late especially if it's calm.

VN Sppon. Your in a heap of trouble boy. You have the right to remain silent. Do a boat in that color scheme. I know a retired State Police officer from the Tawas Post. Steve H is a good fisherman and friend.

quick walleye board pin fix

You can also take a SS wire, or welding rod put it in a drill motor and cut a groove with a file or hacksaw blade as the wire spins. The C Clip goes in the groove. Bend the end 90 degrees to make a place to grab. Many ways around the barn. -
Dan, Nice work on the eyes.

I fished with my grandson Alex, Tom D, Jay J, and Nelson M. We took 21 eyes a catfish and a perch. Nelson had to be in at a certain time. It was a beautiful day to spend on the bay. It took awhile to get things going. It was a learning experience for some. It's not easy for some to steer a boat going 1.5 MPH with some wind and waves in the mix. It's a learning experience and we were doing much better at the end of the trip. It also takes some time to get used to setting lines and boards.

I'm looking for a regular fishing partner that can fish the bay 2 or 3 times a week. It would be a plus if you could steer a boat straight at trolling speeds, and are familiar with in-line planer boards. I have the equipment and usually do well. Email me please.

Tue 8/6/2013 Four Man Limit
Priority1 replied to Priority1's topic in Saginaw Bay Fishing Reports - Walleye
Grant, My wife helped me put rods away yesterday. My rods are all lined up neatly on a garage wall. I have to do something a little less organized. My wife was counting rods. Ya know it's and addiction. I do run a big spread and like to have plenty of extras in case something messes up. We stayed clean yesterday with only one minor tangle because a board jumped another line in the 4 foot seas. I have seen it get real ugly. Big boys do like their toys. -
I fished with Gary K, Tom K, and Alex J, for a four man limit in tough conditions. Alex is my 10 yo grandson that reeled in about half these fish and netted the other half. We went S. of Pt. A. and made a long troll N. in 2-4 foot waves. We fished in 25-28 FOW. We had 11 fish the first pass and motored back S. and picked up 4 quickies coming back with the waves. I turned the boat around and trolled into the seas and picked up the last 5 going against the grain. I like going against the usual stuff. Due to conditions we only put out 6 boards and two down rods. 2oz BB and harnesses off the boards and 3 oz off the down rods. The down rods were smoking HOT with copper blades doing most of the damage. A big Purple homemade Smile was our second best producer. I just did some setting up and stayed out of the way. We farmed 2 keepers pulling lines and threw back 3 or 4 shorts. I think we also caught 3 or 4 Sheephead. 1.5 MPH was the ticket. I love it out there and I'm thankful this resource is in our back yards. Gary, Tom, and Alex can fish with me any time.

My grandson Alex (now 10) was trolling for walleye with my son Mike on Houghton Lake in 2011. Alex caught a 24" Smallie with one of my homemade purple smile blade harnesses. My son netted the fish after it made at least six jumps with one of my homemade bouncers in tow. My son got a recommendation for a Houghton Lake area taxidermist from one of the tackle shops there. My son took the fish and harness to the recommended guy and gave him a deposit of $50. Long story short the guy is now in TX and the fish and $$$ ?????? I would like to have a replica of the fish made with a duplicate harness worked in. This would be Alex's Christmas or Birthday gift depending on the time frame. I'm going to try and make this right for my grandson. The fish alone was a spectacular event in Alex's life, and the fact that he caught it on one of my harnesses made it even more special to him. It was sure a let down when he found out the trophy was gone. I was having bad thoughts of this questionable individual but have since forgiven him because I don't know what may be going on in his world. Any recommendations would be appreciated. My son is going to email the pics to me and as soon as he does I'll post them. Thanks in advance.

8/1/2013 Saginaw Bay Walleye
Priority1 replied to Priority1's topic in Saginaw Bay Fishing Reports - Walleye
Terry, I stayed on em until the middle of August last year and quit because I had honey do s backed up a mile. It is far easier and more consistent in June. Like your side it's all about water temps. Today we had 69-70 on the surface which is so unusually cold for this time of the year. I fished within a 1/2 mile circle for 6 weeks straight including the trip you were there. That in itself is unusual. June had a lot of E NE winds that kept the fish in my pocket. I'm running a little bit now but not bad.
