  1. Buster, GJ today and GL tomorrow.
  2. Randy, GL tomorrow. Tell Rick I said howdy. Also tell him if he's getting too old to fish for salmon he could come over this way and fish for walleye. I could use another grumpy old guy.
  3. I can't say we did much fishing but it was nice to finally meet Troy W. and his son Wyatt. Rich N. and I fished before and he's always a pleasure to have aboard. Our trip was kinda over before it began. We were getting bumped by 3s and and an occasional 4 foot wave. We didn't want it to be a bad experience for Wyatt so we pulled lines shortly after setting them. I hope to fish with Rich, Troy, and Wyatt, next year during prime time. We didn't mess up the cooler at all and boated two sheepshead that Wyatt skillfully reeled in. Gotta love the bay and the youngsters. Wyatt was the REEL Priority1. Rich has two youngsters, and ya know I have my grandchildren. Wyatt reminded me of the times I fished with GLF and the cabin boys. Mike's sons Hunter and Wyatt were named the cabin boys by yours truly. They grow up waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too fast.

  5. They are painted white and have a clear coat with green super glow pigment added. In the dark they glow green. In the daylight they are white. I chose the green pigment because it has the longest glow time.
  6. My balls glow in the dark.
  7. I lied in this report. I just had breakfast with Tom and Sherrie and found out they caught and cleaned 10. So they limited out and I was slacking again.
  8. It was a beautiful morning to spend on the Bay. I fished with Tom E, and his wife Sherrie. Sherrie caught her first Saginaw Bay Walleye. Sherrie has caught several walleye before but this was her first time fishing our waters. We took 9 eyes before calling it a day. We had a few nice fish come unbutton, and most of the fish making it to the net would unhook themselves. We also took a few white perch, some small cats, and a sheepshead. We fished BB and meat in 24 FOW @ 1.5 MPH. We saw FM2 fishing close by and talked with Spanking Eyes on the radio. As we were coming into the river I saw J Wheeler coming out with his beautiful family aboard. It don't get any better fishing with good people and knowing you have good friends in the area.
  9. GJ on the Bay and thanks for the report.
  10. GJ and congrats on the 30 pounder.
  11. Darrin, A warm to the GLF site. Just holler if you need any help.
  12. Water temps certainly are a huge factor when it comes to fishing. Over the last several years I'm more inclined to think that the time of year, or more precise the daylight to dark ratio has more to do with the fish and animal activities than temperature. Again temperature certainly has its role but the calendar seems to be the overriding factor. Everything in nature like the buck rut, fish spawning runs, etc. seem to always coincide with certain dates give or take a few days. Human behavior is less dependent on the calendar as we go about life in our climate controlled environment. But even humans to a lesser degree respond somewhat differently when the seasons start to change. Go back in time a few hundred years and humans were affected dramatically by the seasons. What are your thoughts on fish, animal, and human behavior, as they relate to the seasons or to temperature.
  13. The fishing has slowed down significantly in the last week. It may be perch time. Anyplace else on the earth people would be jumping up and down for what we can catch here even when it is slow. I may try some cranks over the weekend. A week ago we were toughing it out and getting limits or close. Tue: I wished with Don B, and Mike T, and took 11 eyes and a perch. We threw back a few shorts and some sheep. Since my limit always fills last (My Rule) I gave my walleye and perch away at the ramp. The conditions limited us to our choices with 2-3 foot seas early. We fished skinny water and deep. One plus the nets off the point have been pulled. Wed: I fished with Tom D, Bob M, and Buster P, and we only managed to box 7 keepers. We did throw back a few short ones and a cat and some sheep. Big waves again early limited our choices. Both these trips were a lot of fun with good people. Us oldtimes like it slow but we can handle it a tad faster. Thanks to all the good people I fish with. I will never fish alone again so it's always my pleasure when I can hit the water with good friends.
  14. GJ Eyeball. It is a slower bite but what the heck.
  15. Don, GJ on the steel.
  16. Rog, That a big ole good one.
  17. I check every hook new or used when tying rigs. If they don't stick in my thumb nail they get the file. It's not a bad idea to check them after a fish also.
  18. I'll keep fishing them but with less intensity than earlier in the year. I have witnessed so many wonderful years of walleye fishing on the Saginaw Bay. I can honestly say that this year has been the best year ever and I got a late start because of personal reasons. I miss fishing with my good, but short time, friend Mel D. but I know that he is with me in spirit.
