  1. It's not too tough changing spools on Okuma reels. Before the changes wind the line up so the level wind is all the way to one side. Cut the line at that point and tape the line down. After the spool change line the level wind up to the side that is taped down. If you don't do this the level wind will be way out of sync with the spooled line. Okumas are easy to work on. I don't think I'd try it while on a boat. I used to get double duty out of my reels by spooling the heavier line just slightly on the light side. When I wanted to fish lighter line I'd splice on a 100yds of 10 or 12#. If the line was still good when I wanted to return to the heavy stuff I'd just wind up the lighter line on an old line spool. In other words the heavier line was a backer and the light line on top. Either way it not much trouble.
  2. Kris, A warm to the GLF site. Just holler if ya need any help.
  3. Aaron, It was my pleasure meeting you and your father. I hope we are able to fish together next year. I met and fished with a lot nice folks from this web site and hope to meet and fish with many more.
  4. Shoot one now and better process it immediately. There's a lot of time yet. GL with your hunting.

  8. Nick, A warm to the GLF site. Someone will surely chime in. Can you use the switches off the downriggers?
  9. Jason, Give me a call next Spring and jump aboard Priority1. Ya have to check and make sure those reels have a good home. No!!!! I wont give them back.
  10. I sold 16 of my walleye trolling reels in the last few weeks. All were in VG to excellent condition. I sold some reels here and some elsewhere. These are the last 3 that I'll be selling and will be listing them soon on Craig's List and then eBay. If you are thinking about these better get them soon. These reels were purchased new in 2011. These were never transported on the bottom of a boat. These reels have ball bearings on the spools. Beware!! Some of the newer Okuma MAs do not have bearings. I pack a lot of rods when I fish. TG for the three rod rule.
  11. John, Thanks for the report. A warm to the site. Just holler if you need any help.
  12. The older you get the more important good friends and good eats become. Pan frying is not the healthiest but it sure tastes good. I can't wait until you can get back over here and catch some for yourself.
  13. I make mine thinner also so the batter is not overpowering. I make the batter then add all the pieces to it and stir them around to coat them all. I then add them one at a time to the hot pan with a fork. I'll PM my phone #.
  14. These reels were used exclusively for walleye trolling. They are in VG to Excellent condition with little to no boat rash. They have always been stored on rods on a wall rack in my garage or transported a short distance in my boat's rod holders. I still have the boxes they came in with papers and an extra two paddle reel handle for each one. The drags have been backed off when stored over the Winter. The reels have 2 ball bearings. $63 takes all three or $25 each and I'll ship them for the actual postage cost. PM or Email me. frankjastr@hotmail(dot)com

  19. These four reels have been sold and shipped. I'll soon be listing 6 more of these in the same great condition and 3 of the MA15DX line counter reels. PM or email me if you may be interested. All reels were designated walleye trolling reels and were stored in rod holders to and from the launch and in a rod rack in my garage.
