  1. Your a sight for sore eyes Rich. A warm back. I somehow missed this thread earlier.
  2. I finally figured out who the person is that confronted me at Northport. He is an older salty charter captain that fishes out of Northport. If I was unsuccessful I don't think I'd bother him at all. This charter captain called me at home last year and gave me his home phone and cell #s. He talked with me like I was his friend. I'll just keep on keeping on and maybe he'll get over it. I just want to fish and because of my limitations I have to fish in a 20' + boat. I can't fish alone and if inviting people to fish with me is wrong I guess I'll just have to learn to live with it. Fishon, or better yet Shut up and fish.
  3. You are so welcome. Maybe next trip give me a shout and we can meet for a burger or a coffee.
  4. GJ Mike. The Bay has never been better.
  5. Rick, A warm Holler if you need any help.
  6. I fished with Joe W aka (Side Job), Bob M aka (Fish Hawk), and Mark aka (My Turn). It is always a pleasure fishing with some old pals like Bob and Joe but this trip I met a new friend Mark. Everyone did what needed to be done and the trip was very pleasurable. Mark donated his fish to an elderly gentleman at the ramp, a kind gesture from a good guy. I hope to fish with all three of them again soon. I like surrounding myself with good people. It helps knock the rough edges off this grumpy old man. We ran 2oz Bouncers off 10 Offshore OR-12s with home tied harnesses and 3oz Bouncers off two down rods. We started taking fish immediately but the fish were not that aggressive. Later the bite got tough and we worked a bit for our last 5. My limit always fills last. We had to resort to the force feed method and then we finished like the Grand Finale on the 4th of July. We ended up farming about 4 keepers, Two keepers came unbuttoned just before the net, and we gently released some future fish after showing them the cooler on the back of the boat. We pulled lines a little before 10:00 AM with 20 Eyes in the box. 1.5 MPH was good with a couple of the bigger fish coming on the inside lazy boards on some turns. Good Fishing, Good Friends, Good Times.
  7. Even I could resemble that remark. Yesterday coming home from Saginaw I stopped at the Roadside Park about 20 minutes from home and took a 40 minute snooze. Ya know I need my beauty rest. If I feel the least bit tired I will NOT drive. All it takes is a couple of seconds and it could be curtains for me and or others.
  8. Mike, Trouble is my middle name. My first name is Mo. I was minding my own business, but I guess others need to do the same. When I was little younger and a lot crazier no telling what that confrontation might have led to. John Van has the best idea, give him the nod. I think we could make a better Grumpy Old Man Movie.
  9. I fished with Bob M, Chuck A, Bob E, and Ed. We took 24 eyes and a nice Northern to limit us out. We also got a couple of nice perch for my dinner. The bite was hot at first and then slowed. Dirty copper on the down rods was doing a lot of the damage. Off course it was 3 oz BB on the down rods and 2 oz BB on the boards. We were taking some high fish and also some bottom feeders. We shook off two boards and while chasing them at about 2.2 MPH we took a couple of fish. Most of our fish came @ 1.5-1.7 MPH. Gotta Love Dat Bay.
  10. Capt. Mike, Good fishing as always. It was good to see you at the ramp again. We'll have to get together for a burger or drink sometime.
  11. Mine also run just slightly behind Mid-ship.
  12. TJ, Nice work. Take a break and come over and catch some eyes.
  13. I fished with Sarah and Scott D this morning in tough conditions. One person who was supposed to come with them wasn't feeling well this morning so he stayed in camp. We had solid 2 foot rolling waves and an occasional 3. After a bit on the water we had a dual chum line going. I can laugh now but I was truly feeling sorry for them while it was happening. We set lines and took fish @ 1.5 MPH on the bottom, half way up, and 2/3 of the way up. We boxed our first 5 fish within 15 minutes of the first line hitting the water. It slowed a tad but never enough to get bored. We had a couple of tangles and a broken main line bringing in one of the last fish. The broken line still had the board attached. We made a loop and got the board and Scott skillfully hand lined the fish to the net. All colors were going. It was a good morning with new friends. Thanks Sarah and Scott.
  14. Keep on them Mike. It was good talking with you after the catching.
  15. I fished Au Gres with Joe S, and his two friends Bob, and Gary. I now consider all three friends of mine. We punched a 4 man ticket and pulled lines about 9:50. We had a few nice fish and the rest were eaters. We did lose about a 30" walleye two cranks from the net. Thanks Joe, Bob, and Gary for putting up with a grumpy old man. BB and meat 10 Offshore boards and two down rods. Green and pink were our best colors. Now as the late Paul Harvey would say, "The Rest of the story." I have been hearing second hand for years that I'm a charter captain and it's p!$$ing some jealous SOBs off. I was finally confronted by an older man even grumpier than I am. I have had a slip at Northport for my use for a couple of years. Today I decided to use the fish cleaning facility for the first time. I received less than a warm welcome from an Au Gres oldtimer who went and got some one to challenge me about using the cleaning facility. They knew who I was but were not mannerly enough to introduce themselves. When he finally found out he didn't have enough balls to run me out of there he walked away pouting like a p!$$ed off little girl saying, "You're a charter captain and shouldn't use the facility." I told him, "I'm not a Charter Capt. and I couldn't run carters because I'm not licensed to do so." He grumbled, "That's another problem. You're a Charter Capt and fish every day." I only used the facility once and didn't intend on using it again for a long while. Now that I know it bothers someone so I may just become a regular there. If I see him again I'll ask him if he has a key and if he belongs there. Anyone want to go fishing??? I can't fish every day like I was accused of but 2 or 3 times a week is enough. I gave my fish to some needy fishermen who came in short. A lot of you people fished with me and I made you do as much work as I did. The crew cleaned the fish today. I guess I'm not much of a Charter Captain.
  16. GJ Mike as always. It was good talking with you at the ramp after your trip.
  17. Different day different crew. We started where we left off yesterday and took 5 nice fish but it was a lot slower than yesterday's quick limit. We were also over run by boats. We made a move and picked up the other 15 in short order. 2 oz bb with harnesses off the boards and 3 oz bb off the down rods. I gave my fish to a 83 yo neighbor after removing some lip jewelry from one of the fish. No particular color was hot. I fished with some new friends Joe S. and Larry. Tom D and I have fished together before. Most of the fish were right close to the bottom.

    Huge Laker

That is a HOG. That would be nice in the box tourney day.
  19. I had a great time also. I was doing my best to put you overthelimit. It was a much different trip than the last one we did over deeper water, but it's all fishing and it's the variety that the bay offers us. You had more time to Spend at Northwoods and Frank's. Probably spent MO MONEY also. LOL Good fishing my friend. I had loads of confidence on what was happening on the boat. You, Jim, and Skip, made it happen.
  20. Laura, A warm Holler if you need any help. There is a great bunch of people here. I'm looking forward to reading your reports.
