  1. WTG Mike. I'm sure you built some GR8 memories for those boys.
  2. Welcome Leon:)
  3. I just added 4 Big Jon rod holders for my dipsys. John aka SD800 fixed me up with some factory seconds that look real good. I'm also about to weld up an 8 rod SS Rocket Launcher, to go up on my HT. The Rocket Launcher will pivot down to clear my 10' high garage door. The Rocket Launcher will also have my two 55w halogen fishing lights and the anchor light mounted on it. I will probably set up a couple of SWRs with some of my reserve rods.
  4. A little chum never hurt anything. I keep the wrist bands, pills, and ginger snaps on board. I keep everyone out of the cabin. I will get a paper bag also. It can't hurt.
  5. TYVM everyone for the tips. I think for starters all I'm going to need is the leadcore. I have 4 Offshore in-line PBs with the HD red releases. I also run Big boards when I have enough people on board to justify putting them out. Most of the time I fish with 2-3 people on board, and once in awhile 4. Anyone wanting to fish Saginaw Bay this Summer for some walleye, let me know. I made four 3 day trips to Manistee last year, and did fantastic.
  6. Welcome Big Jon Sports. I was in touch with John Williams @ BJS just a bit ago. GR8 products.
  7. Has anyone ever tried a snap, or swivel snap, tied on the leadcore, or on a short leader attached to the leadcore? The leader could then be snapped on and changed as needed easily. I'm not sure if this would hurt the presentation. I just wanted to ask before trying something that may have failed for one of you.
  8. Caz, You are starting to reel me in. I thought that you needed to use some roller guide rods for this stuff. I may just take one of my downrigger rods and set it up as a SWR with 2 colors of leadcore. The other 8 colors I may try on a Dipsy rod that I already have. One thing that has been stated is cornfusing me. It has been said that the leadcore puts a different spin, wiggle or whatever on the lure. I just wonder why the long leader between the core and the lure? With flashers or dodgers the leads are very short in comparison. It seems that 60 ft. of leader would remove or greatly lessen the effect that the core puts on the lure. I'm just trying to fully understand the reason so that I can fine tune the presentation. In any kind of fishing it's PRESENTATION, more than any other factor. Leadcore is just a different presentation. Caz and Levi have to be the best salesmen in this neck of the woods. A couple of days ago it was NO WAY:no: . Today I'm thinking maybe, at least the SWR set up. It will only cost me the price of the core, because I have extra downrigger, and dipsy rods. It's a good thing I'm building that new rocket launcher to hold all this stuff. LOL:grin:
  9. You guys are starting to convince me. A few reasons for still resisting. 1. Wife counts my rods. Can I hide some @ your place. Walleye, Salmon and Spinning Rods +-30. 2. It's over too fast as it is. Limits before full sun up some of the times. I'm old and slow and can barely keep up now. 3. I'm retired on a very limited budget. My boat repairs and fishing budget is just about spent for this year. Could anybody let me have about $$$ till times get better. 4. This place is GR8 for all the tips. TY Caz for filling us all in.
  10. Maybe you can convince me Caz. I have been resisting using core or wire. My Dipsys target the boat shy fish, and keep me busy netting quality fish. Most late Summer and Fall Kings are not boat or cannon ball shy. They like Priority1. LOL I run spoons, flashers and spoons, and flashers with squid. Anything I hook to a downrigger August and later is never more than 15 ft behind the ball, and most of the time around 10ft back. I have had kings hit sliders in the prop wash aprox. 15 ft down. I know the stuff works, but my way of thinking is, downriggers were invented to do away with having leadcore and a kazillion ft of line behind the boat. I know that the SWRs are not back a full core or more, but I just can't see an advantage. I did hear boats using the SWR set ups, and found out what they were. I was thinking about adding another Dipsy to my 4 and running it up the chute. Don't you just love spending money on these toys? I may just beg a ride on your boat and say show me. LOL
  11. I pulled my out-drive just before backing mine into the garage about the last of Nov. My garage never freezes, and I heat it when I want to work out there. Next Year I will keep things ready to rock until Feb. I need to change bellows and gimble bearing this Winter. My garage is 28 ft deep so there is little room front and back after putting my 22 footer in there. My swim platform touches the tools hanging on the back wall and the trailer coupler is about 6 inches from the door. One problem with launching my boat this time of yr is the lack of docks. I'm probably better off not even thinking about launching this time of year.
  12. Happy Hew Year
  13. Priority1 was on the boat when I bought her. The name fit, so I kept it.
  14. Rebates in 03 were VG. I sold a 94 F150 4x4, and bought a comparable 03 Silverado. I was able to sell the F150 for a little more than 1/4 the price of a new Silverado. 9 yrs use, and still worth 28% of a new one. I was able to get the employee discount also. Both trucks were basic 4x4s, with small V8s Auto AC PS PB TS CD Trailer Tow, and Snow Plow package. The truck will tow 7,000#s. Those Duromax diesels are a sweet machine. One of my fishing pals has one. Right now all he pulls with it is a 19ft SC. He is looking to buy a 5th wheel. His truck is a GMC crew cab that cost more than twice mine. I think his will pull 14,000#s or more.
  15. I have a 03 Silverado and pull a 22 ft 86 SC Islander HT. I don't dream big but this was on my want list for years. I'm thankful every time I get to pull it to the launch site.
  16. Hey Bob, My boats not perfect, but if you bring the babes to Tawas, I'll make room for you and that crew. LMAO I already got some Christmas stuff for the Priority1. Four BigJon Rod holders for my Dipsys. I'm building an 8 rod Rocket Launcher for the Hardtop. I'm also going to build a new metal engine cover, new bellows, gimble bearing, and trim sender. That will about break this Santa.
  17. I trailer mine and it stays inside my garage. My garage never gets below freezing. My last trip perch fishing in 05 was Nov 14. I hope I can extend the season even longer this yr.
  18. The weekly reports are GR8. Even when I'm busy I @ least take time to check them. TYVM for providing them.
  19. There is a special spline grease to use on these, that hangs in there a lot longer than regular marine grease. I put grease on the male splines when I pull the outdrive, and also grease the zerk once a yr on my Alpha1. I have a Seloc manual that I bought @ Overstock.com that is worth it's weight in gold. The manuals are less than $30. If you need any help let me know.
  20. 16. Remove battery, and store it in a warm location. Trickle charge it once a month. 17. Make certain the bilge and livewells are dry. Remove the hoses from the bilge and live well pumps to make sure there is no trapped water in them. 18. Jack up and block trailer to keep tires off the ground. Check tires, brakes, and bearings before Spring.
  21. Saturday was a GR8 day to be on the water. The perch were hitting light and slow 40+FOW. We had better catch days, but can't complain about Saturdays nice weather. Perch were 8-12 inches, with a few 7 inches or less throw backs. Two of us iced 53. There must have been 100 boats within our sight @ AuGres.
  22. Welcome Paul. I fish Huron and Michigan, but always wanted to get over to Lake Ontario for some late Summer Kings.
  23. Don't BS us Mike. You just cleaned off that desk before that pic was taken. LMAO Reminds me that mine needs a cleaning.
