  1. GJ Phil, and crew. Give Adam a ^5 from me.
  2. I replaced all my bellows and gimbal bearing over the Winter just to play it safe. My exhaust bellows was showing some slight checking. I check the bellows every Winter, and change them at the first sign of any deterioration. I also changed the trim and limit senders. The trim sender was bad, and the bellows needed to be removed for this job anyway. I had my carburetor off for cleaning and float adjustments over the Winter also. I just got an Email from the alternator shop. They said it may take awhile for the battery to come all the way up and read 14 volts while running. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
  3. I had a boatload of mechanical problems this year. Nothing major, but they take their toll in $$ and downtime. I just recently replaced a defective Alternator that was overcharging. I could have just replaced the regulator but decided to go the distance and replace the 21 yo alternator. It was cheaper than rebuilding the old one. The new alternator performed well until the main charging wire broke close to the alternator. It was just the terminal so an EZ fix. Since repairing it my Voltmeter doesn't go up to 14V like before. I'm thinking the alternator may be toast. I checked V @ Alternator and the reading is the same. The alternator has a 1 yr no hassle War. But @#%# what else can go wrong. I want to go to Manistee Tue. I hope I can get it resolved before then. Chit happens but why me???
  4. WTG Sea-Mac. Wishing I was Salmon Slammin.
  5. Here is a link for an exploded drawing of the OMC Stringer. It may help.http://www.boatparts.ca/id10.html
  6. About 2 or 3 small pans of the wood chips should do the job. For the brine I always use enough canning salt to float an egg. ENJOY:)
  7. Howdy Hi-Tech, A warm welcome to you. I fish Lake Huron's Saginaw Bay for Walleye, and a few trips a year over to Lake Michigan for some Salmon. You will like it here. I hear you on the cost of fishing. I make a lot of my own lures, and do all my own work on my boat. I'm retired, and have to stretch every dollar. Frank
  8. WTG. Love that Salmon Slammin.
  9. I have the setups that came with my boat. I have never used them. I'm going to give some snap weights a try with leadcore. I may also look into the Dive Bombs. I will make my own snap weights with some pinch pad releases and sinkers. JMHO But I think it is wrong to jettison lead balls. I feel this way because of the waste. I have enough stuff on the bottom of the lakes without intentionally dropping more. I don't condemn anyone for using them.
  10. VG call Rich. I slept in my truck cap that night. I was in the bath house when the storm hit. I would much rather be under my truck cap than in a tent, when bad weather strikes.
  11. We had a great time also. It was great to put some faces with the names from this site. I have a few pics to post. I'm a little late getting back on track. I returned to find that my next door neighbor had passed away. We had our 4 yo grandson here Mon-Wed. I took him out Walleye fishing this morning. We did get a few.
  12. GJ Mike. See you in Muskegon tomorrow.
  13. I just tie a barrel Swivel on my flies with a palomar knot.
  14. The length of fly leader determines the action the fly will get. Most flasher manufacturers give some guidelines. The longer the leader the less action on the fly. I generally tie mine two to three times the length of the flasher. Even with a mild action dodger you shouldn't be less than 1-1/2 to two times the length of the dodger. I have used some squid with longer leaders behind the flashers. If something isn't working, I change things. Sometimes the fish want it slow and easy, and other times they like it fast and wild.
  15. Sounds good Jim. I'll have to try it. I have grilled Salmon a few different ways. One of my favorites, is to marinate Salmon in Italian Dressing before grilling.
  16. Welcome Tailwalker (Ron). I have fished HB, PA, and Grindstone. I have been doing great on walleye in the Sag Bay. I fished Manistee a couple of weeks ago, and will be in Muskegon this weekend. By the way, I love them hardtops. I have a 22 Starcraft Islander HT. If you want to fish I need a another crew member for Sat. in Muskegon. Actually you could fish Fri Sat and Sun if you want. I wish your son the very best, and hope he's not in harms way.
  17. WTG Jim. I can't wait to give Muskegon a try this weekend. It will be my first time fishing Lake Michigan South of Ludington.
  18. I have some, but have NOT run any of it yet. I have had some success running the Gulp crawlers for Walleye.
  19. WTG @ Whitehall.
  20. GJ Lion Den, I cant wait to fish Muskegan Friday.
  21. Priority1 passed the shakedown cruise with flying colors. I picked up 4 walleyes one got off at the boat and another one broke the harness. 3 fish came on the same harness with a purple blade. 2oz. 30 back over 33-36 FOW. By the time I figured out what they wanted it's was time to come in. I did catch one big kitty cat. All the fish I caught were Keepers, except the one with whiskers. Sometimes it doesn't matter what you try with Walleye, and other times they want it their way.
  22. GJ Salmonquest. Thanks for the report from God's country. PS I added the pic to your report instead of the link.
  23. Could be Dan. Find out what they want, and give em lots of it. I have caught some decent Walleye with #3 blades and sometimes bigger is better. Thanks for the information.
  24. GJ, KOTW. You are making tracks.
