  1. GJ Ed. WTG Redeye. I love the glow squid flasher Dipsy combo.
  2. GJ Capt Bill. It's GR8 when you can overcome tough conditions and still make it happen. At times it seems the Kings go ballistic when the lake churns up.
  3. SHARP HOOKS. During the Winter months every Hook gets checked and sharpened if needed. When I pull a lure from the box it stays out until the hooks get checked. Some are OK to go back in the box, but many need the file put to them. This only takes a few minutes longer, but next trip it pays off big time.
  4. GJ GLF and Coho. It's a blast just to hook up a King. Sometimes the fish win.
  5. I lost my favorite # 5 white with black ladder back home glowed J plug a week ago. I was able to find a number 4 but I didn't have time to glow it. I feel your pain.
  6. It was my great pleasure to meet Slayer aka Dave, and Hunting Fool aka Steve in Manistee. I also talked with Tad Pole on the radio. I saw 3 guys that I have known for years, at the fish cleaning station. I also saw one guy I used to work with. I met one guy that has a Summer home less than 8 Miles from me. It really is a small world and the www is making it smaller. It was great to meet so many people in Muskegon this year. Darn!! I'm not going to be able to get away with anything. LMAO TY Mike and this sites sponsors, for giving us a place to hang.
  7. Well I guess the Lake Michigan Jinx is off the Priority1. My second new alternator performed flawlessly. The 2 grumpy old men in the pic below can still Git Er Done. We went 6 for 6 our first morning there. I never did get 6 rods set that morning. We had four fish before I could get four rods in. A number 5 Glow Ghost J did most of the damage. We were running it 15 back, 60 down over 130-145 FOW. A Slide-Diver with a 6 inch glow squid behind a white 8 inch glow Hootchie was also a producer. The same Slide-Diver setup only a meat rig behind the flasher was also good. Slide divers were set @ 3-1/2 and run 150 back. We did fish one evening going 3 for 3 in a half hour period. The two Slide divers mentioned above each took a fish right after sundown. We also took a fish on the Glow Ghost J just before sundown. The big moon came up soon after sundown, and it was like someone hit the OFF switch. Our last morning there we only went 1 for 3. We had to leave early so Chuck could get back in time for work. We were also forced to fish right straight out for time reasons. The 44 17s and 18s were good for us as well as the 44 10s. I wouldn't let the nets keep you away from Manistee. Get the coordinates and stay East or West of them. The 44 10s are Just S of the nets, and the 17s and 18s are well N. of them. I know the nets are a touchy subject, but with careful planning it's not too difficult to avoid them. It would be nice to see them out of the picture, but it appears that we are going to have to live with them. If you want to play it safe when running N and S stay in 50 FOW or less or in 200 FOW or more. Coming back to port from the 10s we just stayed in the 50 foot range and run in after dark.
  8. My wife and I will walk the bridge also. We will park on the St. Ignace side and will be ready to go after the initial rush @ 7 PM. We walked the bridge about 15 years ago.
  9. The pump was easy to install. I had to drill a 1-1/8 inch hole through the lower part of the transom. I used some 3M marine adhesive made for below the waterline. My battery is almost right above the pump so I added a fuse and a switch near the back of the boat. The pump will NOT spray with a great deal of force, but it does spray enough water to wash the fish slime off the deck. They make washdown pumps that cost about 4 times as much that I'm sure would have a lot more pressure.
  10. I have heard of a cure using salt and borax, but I never used it. I have used the water cure and freeze method.

    Bucks

I have seen a few around here without the velvet. The bucks around here don't get as big as the farm country bucks. I haven't hunted since I sold my place in St. Charles. My son still does well around there.
  12. GJ Shu. I need to get down to Erie one of these yrs.
  13. Joe,GL this football season. No matter when you pick up your toys, MI does have a short boating season.
  14. Thanks for the report CS.
  15. WTG Toxic. The best part is you were able to get a kid on the water.
  16. Real Neat. TY Red Eye.
  17. A warm welcome to you John. You will like it here.
  18. TYVM Tom. for the detailed data. Weighted Trebles are illegal in MI, but not weighted singles. I guess a Jig is a weighted single.
  19. GJ Captain Chris, and thanks for the report. It sounds like setting lines @ 6:30 or 7:00 PM, should be the plan. The Kings seem to go nuts, when the sun gets close to the horizon. Sometimes it's pitch dark before they decide to go.
