  1. Congrats to you both. Wishin I was Salmon Slammin.
  2. GJ CS ^5. Just think how well you would have done, if you kept on those Kings with all that chumming going on. On the other hand, it's not a lot fun when it's happening to you.
  3. Thanks for the report Mark. It sounds like a good place to avoid for awhile.
  4. WTG Capt. Bill. Thanks for the report.
  5. GJ Jim on the two geese. Too bad on the one crippled goose. We all hate when that happens. I'm glad you gave it your all to find it.
  6. WTG Jim. It's always GR8 to get a kid out on the pond. I hope you got him hooked on fishing.
  7. Check the antenna connection to the radio. The solder type connectors are the best. It's a lot easier for a radio to receive than to send. Icom makes one of the best radios out there.
  8. WTG Mark. Thanks for the reports.
  9. Congrats Phil on the 2007 WMFL Title:)
  10. Nice pics Phil. Summer does fly by. I garage my boat so I get a little longer season. @#%@ don't put her away yet Phil. 2 yrs ago Nov 14th was my last trip out perch fishing. Work hard but play even harder.
  11. Thanks for the report Captain. I can't wait until next year, for some MO Salmon Slammin.
  12. WTG RD. Thanks for the report.
  13. The leaders behind the flasher should be about 2-1/2 to 4 times the length of the flasher. The longer the lead the less action on the fly or lure. Sometimes less action is better, and other times not. The white and green glows are hot here. A little orange or red in the mix may trigger the fish. Run the flasher at least 2 feet behind the Dipsy. Never exceed the length of the rod, for total length of leaders and equipment behind the Dipsy. Example a 20 ft. of gear behind a Dipsy will not allow you to easily net a fish with a 9 foot rod. The rest is trial and error, or hopefully trial and success. Good Luck Randy.
  14. GJ and thanks for the report Capt Dick. Gotta Luv Manistee.
  15. 8421 is the number on my Cert. When we started people almost totally filled two lanes. It was tough to get around the slow walkers. Since I had my hips replaced I find it difficult to walk slow. It's kind of like riding a bike, and slowing to the point of falling over.
  16. Cool video, Mike.
  17. WOW!!!!!!!! That sounds like the trip of a lifetime, and you are going to do it again next year. It doesn't get any better than that. WTG Terry.
  18. We walked the bridge also. We drove across @ about 5:30 AM and caught some ZZZZZZZs. We parked fairly close in the rest area parking lot. We started the walk @ 7:40 AM and finished about 9:10 AM. There were several swimmers that crossed the straights. They looked like bugs in the water below. Like Mike said the line was a couple hrs long to get back. We looked around a bit, got a pizza, then found a shady spot under a big maple. About 3:30 the line shrunk to about 1/2 hr., and we got in it. We must have been on the bus 45min. I saw one person fill up a pickup @ $20 piece and haul them across. The bridge walk is about 5 miles, but the to and fro had to add a few miles to that. My titanium hip joints held up better than some of my others. We headed N. to Brimley to play with the Indians for a couple of days. We came home a few bucks lighter but not bad. Our room and meals were comped. Maybe I'll try it again when the bridge turns 75 yo. I can remember seeing it being built as we crossed the straights in a car ferry. Mike, Did you have the boys with you?
  19. GJ GEF. I have taken walleye that deep while Salmon fishing out of Oscoda and Harrisville, but I never targeted them in that range.
  20. GJ Steve. It was nice meeting you in Manistee. Manistee remains my favorite Lake Michigan Port. I'll have to wait until 08, for some MO Salmon Slammin.
  21. Good news Dan. I still have some of the older 1/4 oz Tots but none of the larger rattle ones. I still like the red billed ones, and have colored most of them.
  22. We fished as far N. as the 20s out of Manistee. That is not that far South of Onekema. We were doing well in 130-145 FOW 40-60 down on the riggers, and 150 back on 3-1/2 with Dipsys. A number 5 Glow Ghost J plug was HOT. Other offerings were glow squid behind white hootchie off the dipsys, and a meat rig behind a hootchie off the dipsys. GL. Wishin I was Salmon Slammin. After Sunup don't hesitate to run a rigger or 2 down to the 100 FOW range.
  23. Welcome aboard Kingfisher. You will like it here. I fish Lake Huron, and it's Saginaw Bay, mostly out of AuGres. I make 4 or 5 trips to Lake MI for some Salmon Slammin. Love them Islanders:)
  24. #1 White with black ladder back home glowed #5 J plug run clean 15 back off the riggers. #2 Glow Ghost #5 J plug off the riggers. #3 Dipsy 150 back 3-1/2 with a 6-1/2 inch glow squid behind a white glow Hootchie Mama. #4 Dipsy 150 back 3-1/2 with a modified meat rig behind a white glow Hootchie. #5 Wonder bread home glowed J off the riggers. My Dipsys did good this year but not like past years. The rigger bite on Js was so good, so I kept more of them in the water. I did take a few fish on core this year. I didn't fish salmon near as much as I would like to. I hope the salmon return to Lake Huron in numbers that make me want to fish them. Walleye did take up the slack.
