A fishing buddy and I just made two four rod Bird Trees for the Priority1. I just counted the rod holders on the boat, and she totals 38, including the rocket launcher and downriggers. I may remove 8 homemade ones that came on the boat, and I'm not fond of. We made the Trees out of 7/8 & 2 inch 304 S.S. Tubing. We also had to make the S.S. brackets to fasten it to the gunwales and the hardtop. The trees will swivel to point towards the stern for traveling. This project was why I was MIA for the last couple of days. We went and got Joe's boat out of storage and made a 4 rod holder for his 19 Starcraft. I will pull my boat out of the garage soon and check things out at home. I'll probably Launch in AuGres, sometime next week. The AuGres River is open, and the DNR Launch has 1 dock installed.

Thanks for the report. They have been taking some off Tawas Point. Most of the fish have been small. Sorting may get you a meal.

A very warm welcome to you Chris.

All I can say is Ditto. Lot of good information above. A big 10/4 on the bouncers, inline weights, and snap weights.

GJ guys. I know your are prefishing a tourney but you could at least let us know what the duck came on. I don't usually target ducks, but have set some lines for cormorants. -
No oil required. Mine picks up a slight oil film as the season progresses. The engine oil breather goes into the flame arrester. I clean mine twice a year.

Mike here is a link to After Market's trouble shooting trim systems. They probably have the parts also. You may want to check other sources also. They are VG on most parts but not on all. http://www.amarket.com/chektrm.htm I just had a thought. With your battery being bad, could it be that there is enough power to click the solenoid but not enough to turn the pump motor?

Mike, It sounds like heaven to me. My wading days are over. These two new hips are GR8, but they have limitations. I get a thrill just reading about it. I can't wait to get a boat under my butt. -
They have a solenoid that controls the trim pump. It's EZ to trouble shoot but on most boats it's in a VB place to get at. I had problems with mine last year, and remove the whole assembly to trouble shoot. Mine ended up being the wires going to the trim switch on the throttle. I thought about repairing the wires but it looked like they would be doomed to the same fate. I pulled the wires out of the throttle shift control and installed a new DPDT momentarily on switch on the dash. I think there is an up solenoid and a down solenoid, that control the trim pump. The three wires are necessary to make the pump function Up or down. I know some good electricians in your area if you need any help. The Devil made me do that. I just looked and found a schematic. I'll scan and Email it to you. Can you hear the motor run??? These Trim units use motor oil as their hydraulic oil. Check the fuse. Once you take the trim pump assemble off the transom you may have a better shot at trouble shooting it. On mine I couldn't see nothing until I removed a couple of screws and got the unit out where I could see it.

We have been seeing a good comeback in perch numbers the last few years out of AuGres.

It's been cold here. I need to pull mine out of the garage, and grease all the zerks. I also need to run it with the ear muffs on. I rebuilt the fuel pump, so I want to check that. The launch sites are not the place to find out there is a problem. The first or second time I launch I need to replace a keel roller. It will take two minutes Tops.

Friday the AuGres River @ the DNR Launch was still iced in. It looked like it was starting to open up near the highway. It could be open now. -

GJ Ed. That's a good kind of tired. -
I like your dream Dan except the rude awakening. I seldom fish weekends any more, unless the weather is bad during the week. Education is the key. You need to pass a test to drive a car or truck. What makes boating so different?? Some of these boaters and fishermen don't have a clue. The Power Squadron, and C.G. Aux. offer classes all the time. Fishing and boating mostly on the week days, doesn't mean that you will never encounter these uneducated so called sportsmen. Fishing the week days does limit the number of them. Last Spring the AuGres River Mouth was blocked by fishermen anchored and cross trolling the channel. The Buoys were not in yet and these uneducated ?????? thought it was their God given right to do so. They would not give way to someone coming out or going in. A larger boat can't leave the channel. I was aboard a friends boat, and saw him tear up a $600 SS prop trying to avoid some ?????s planer boards. I will be as courteous as I can, but I'll run over lines before risking damage to my boat.

The Cone beam angle makes a huge difference. A very narrow beam is used for extremely deep use, and a wide beam for shallow use. In other words a narrow beam will show a normal amount of detail when focusing on the depth it was intended for. If you use a narrow beam focusing on shallow targets, you may be only be viewing an area the size of a dinner plate.
