  1. I get my harnesses down with bottom bouncers, Inline weights, snap weights, and I'm going to try the dive bombs this year. I like #4 or #5 Colorado blades on my harnesses but have run some smaller ones.
  2. "Fish inside the bar" I know a lot of fishermen that do just that. The fish caught tend to be larger. And the only hazard is falling off a stool.
  3. Anyone need this prop. Reduced to $55. If you damage yours it will probably cost more than this to repair it. I was using this one for a spare. I picked up another 15 pitch prop that is what my setup requires. This prop is in VG condition. I had it on my boat but it was not the correct pitch for my rig.
  4. I sent you a PM with my phone#. PM me or call. TY:) SOLD
  5. The spoons are just another tool in the box. I run crawler harnesses about 90 percent of the time. I have taken some nice Walleye on spoons off the downriggers. I don't think any one method has an advantage over another 100% of the time. Like always, "Find out what they want, and give them lots of it".
  6. I'm going to try and do a quick shakedown cruise tomorrow morning. Hopefully the wind will not be too bad. I will probably fish for about 2 hrs.
  7. Thanks for the report. The 3 line thing could bite them. I'm going to try and get out of AuGres or Tawas a couple of times this week. I'll probably leave Priority1 home and fish out of a friends 17 footer. In the Spring the smaller boats rule.
  8. Yes!! gas prices are too high. In addition to fuel taxes we pay another tax called license fees for our trucks and trailers. Technically Our boats are not using the roads, they are just a load on our trailers that are already taxed. If the tax we pay, to fuel our boats, was going for better harbors etc, then maybe it would be justified in the boater's mind. Our Northern States have a lot higher road maintenance than States just a little S of us. Some of the pot holes this Spring could float my boat. Trying to get a little of our money back will be tough, with States trying to balance budgets in a declining economy.
  9. WTG Kevin. I love the Duluth MN and Superior WI area. I have never fished it but passed through there a few times. My Great Grandmother (RIP) lived in Winona.
  10. What they said. A lot of good information above.
  11. Cazz gives lessons on tying flies, then gives poker lessons. I applaud Cazz for hosting these events. My only regret, is the distance I would have to travel to attend.
  12. Speed mostly 0.8 to 2.0 MPH GPS. As far as how far back and weight it depends on the depth you are targeting. Downriggers, Inline weights, bottom Bouncers and spap weight can all be used. We use spoons ahead of crawler harnesses on the Saginaw Bay. I also run crawler harnesses with Colorado spinner blades. If I'm targeting 20 to 40 ft I'll run 2-3 oz inline weights or bouncers. Let em down untill you feel them tick bottom and bring then up to the depth you want. Keep in mind that the angle of the line behind the boat has to be accounted for. In other words if your line is at a 45 degree angle you will have to reel up about 3 ft for every two ft you want to come up. Sometimes lighter weights and longer leads provide a different presentation. We do run clean spoons off the riggers at times also. I hope this helps. It looks like Dan was using some crank baits to get the crawlers in the walleye's faces.
  13. TY Dan. It seems that there is a never ending supply of slugs, that prey on the unwary.
  14. I haven't been out yet. I missed my window Tuesday. We been getting strong E winds here. Some guys are ducking the wind in Tawas bay and picking up some Browns, Lakers, and a few walleye. Of course the Lakers get farmed. AuGres should be fantastic again this year. There will be some walleye action their the next week or so but AuGres will soon take a back seat to the inner bay until the water temps come up a bit. I start fishing AuGres almost every day from late May until early July.
  15. Welcome aboard Chuck.
  16. We had a few flakes in the air here today, but nothing like you have. There is a big difference between here and Marquette. It seems that once you cross that 45th Parallel, around the Gaylord area, the weather differences are very noticeable. Hang Tough Yooper.
  17. Rich, You think like I do $$$. The reason I think that way, is because my funds are very limited. My HT is pretty open on 3 sides, but can button down in a hurry. The only real drawback that I have found, is it's is difficult to dock with a cross wind. In windy conditions I will wait for an opening on the upwind side of the dock. I'll try and come in a little bit out from the dock, and let the wind push me in. Frank
  18. I agree. He lives about 75 miles away, but he is usually here a few times during the Summer for some Walleye action. I keep him watching the tattle flags on my inline boards. He will fish with us for as long as we want to stay out. I always try and make it special for him, or any kids I have onboard. Last year I had a father, son, and grandson onboard. The grandson caught his first and several other walleye that day. What is more rewarding than a big smile on a kids face?
  19. Anyone need this??? Price reduced $40:)
  20. I like any kind of a cover on a hot sunny day. The hardtops and canvas are nice in the rain, but to me it's so nice to get in the shade on a hot day. I spent too much time in the sun in all the seasons.
  21. It is a good video. It's not the way I do it, but I will sure give it a whirl.
  22. MO MONEY Bill.
  23. My grandson's birthday is next week. He will be 5 yo. He likes to go fishing on my boat, and he's fascinated with my glow in the dark stuff. The truth be known, my grandkids are my Priority1. One pic is in the dark. He is so into fishing hunting and anything to do outdoors. Do you think he will like it?? Just a plain white T, that I traced the outline of a fish with a permanent fabric marker. I also use a permanent fabric marker to freehand the lettering. Then I used some glow fabric stuff to fill in the fish. Love them kids.
