  1. My apologies Rich. You and your "Kids" had some quality time on the water. It is so much fun to watch the kids catch fish.
  2. The Lakers will be legal in few days. You need to be a Philadelphia Lawyer to figure out the LT rules. Darn the could simplify them.
  3. My Bros fished the bay Sat and took a pounding. There are a few spots to duck some of the wind. I was in A.A. for the U of M graduation. A friend and fishing partner of one of my bros finished 3rd in the tourney. One of my brothers sons graduated, or he would been there also. I never fished that tourney because it was too spread out, time wise and area. They have little or no control over the tournament. One other thing I didn't like is the culling of fish. People would drag fish on a stringer then cull them for a larger fish. I seen tournament fishermen that were short a fish pick up the culls. These tactics turned me off.
  4. Good thread Dan. We had similar success fast trolling salmon. My bros and I were fishing a tourney out of Harrisville when a friend told us to slow down. We just finished our radio chat and we were into a double. Needless to say he picked up the pace. We used to joke, "If the canon balls come out of the water we will slow down a tad". Fast trolling is a gr8 tactic when your searching, and sometimes that's the only way they will strike. We try and vary the speed and see what they want.
  5. I'm going to do up some bratwurst, for this event. Better sign up. This may be the last time you ever see me spring for lunch. I'll need a rough count on crew members. Does anyone have a 5 gal Igloo water cooler so we can make some lemonade to wash them down? I'll probably cook some Kogel's hot dogs also.
  6. GJ Schutlzs. I fished a lot of openers N. and S. of Immerman Park. Drifting with jigs, grub tails and crawlers. I have a rod and reel on the bottom of that river, not to mention a kazillion jigs. We would always drift from N. of Immerman, as far S. as M46. Our best was N. of State Street Bridge. I haven't fished the river in about 10 years. I do miss the fishing, but not the goat rope at the launches. I have a friend that has a place on the river, and opening weekend I would leave my boat there. That made fishing the opener a lot more fun. I did launch a few times opening morning.
  7. WTG Rich and sons. That is Quality time.
  8. WOW!!! WTG Tim. Celebrity status.
  9. Good thread Storm.
  10. Thanks Ray. After this cold front gets out of our way, I may try that tactic on the SB.
  11. Did you notice how clear the water was. We made it out to 15 FOW and we could see bottom plain as day. The inner bay will shine until the water temps start coming up. I heard the night bite for the eyes is a little better.
  12. She looks to be in VG condition. I like the 4REEL name. The flow is right for the 4REEL name. From UNREEL to 4REEL. Anyway congrats on the new ride.
  13. I have never tried what you are suggesting, but If you allow the board to slide down to a speed bead or swivel bead you don't have to mess with a board until the fish is in the boat. Sometimes getting a board off mid fight is difficult, and can cost you a fish. This is especially true when you are short handed on the boat. I use the tattle flag system on my walleye boards, so I have to take them off mid fight. I do however rig the same boards for salmon, without the tattle flag system in play. I use a snap around the line near the rear of the board. By releasing the front release with the snap of the rod the board slides down to a stop bead. Even running with tattle flags in play, If one of the outer boards gets a fish, I snap the rod to release the front release. The outside board is then allowed to go to the back of the boat before cranking the fish in.
  14. I wanted to try casting sticks inside yesterday, but my fishing pal had something going on. My boat is tough for two people to cast from one side. I had a similar experience a couple of days ago. NOT A HIT. Yesterday was a nice day to be on the water.
  15. GJ Kevin. Any day on the water is GR8.
