  1. Jack and I had a great time fishing on the GLF, with Mike and his boys. A big THANK YOU Mike, Hunter, and Wyatt. FYI, Mike fishes with his two boys about 7 and 4 years old. These two youngsters will be setting lines in a few years. They are fantastic kids, and just being around them was fun for us two old grandpas. Jack and I left the Tawas area @ 12:30 AM to fish this tourney. We caught a few ZZZZZZs before leaving and was at the landing a little before 5 AM. It's always good to put some faces with names and handles. I'm hoping I'll be able to get over that way soon to do it again. I'll be concentrating on the Walleyes for about 6 weeks. Thanks again GLF.
  2. Sometimes less is more.
  3. I hate to admit it, but these other guys with their coil theory makes sense. An intermittent problem, or one that happens when the engine warms, is most likely electrical.
  4. Darn, those Kings seem to like it rough.
  5. I never say never, but I don't think I'll be removing my rigger cables, and replacing them with braid. I can see the advantage of less blow back, and ease of termination. A few years back, many were removing wire from their riggers saying the noise was a detriment. Some of these same people were spooling diver rods with wire, and saying the wire whine attracted fish. Well B.S. it' cant spook em on one and attract em on another. There are pros and cons to all our choices. My main reason to leaving the cable on the riggers, I'm addicted to the whine. My 2 cents. The Palomar knot rules when terminating braid.
  6. One thing about running the big board, it's nice to have tether lines to the main lines to pull them in when hooking releases to the main line. I also use a boat hook for this purpose. The tethers can be hooked to the main line with a shower curtain hook, or a large line snap. I use to run big boards exclusively. When the small in line boards evolved, I switched to them for ease of use. The big boards still have their place, but for ease of use, especially with a small crew, the in lines rule.
  7. Priority1 got a bath today. We were looking for fish, and came up empty. The high winds yesterday had them scattered. The water temps are cold for this time of year. Fish the inner inner for awhile. When surface temps get around 60 here AuGres will shine. Mid 50s surface temps. We need some warm rains and Day temps around 70.
  8. I think a three rod per angler would eliminate much confusion for the DNR and the Sportsman. The price of fuel is going to put the hurts on our sport.
  9. I wish I had something to report on Oscoda. Last year Oscoda canceled a long standing Salmon tournament. I hope the fishery returns. I seldom target Lake Trout.
  10. GJ R-Turn. At least you had a little action.
  11. GJ Captain Drew.
  12. I may try a one or 2 oz DB tomorrow for some eyes. I'll zero in with bottom bouncers first.
  13. I'm going to give it a whirl tomorrow, if the weather cooperates. Give me a call.
  14. The Dive Bomb will only plane down. They don't plane to the side. Mike was running a full core with a 4 oz Dive Bomb. The more line out, the less the weight effects the board.
  15. GJ Bill. I always like that early bite.
  16. Thanks for the report Tom. Wishin I was fishin.
  17. GJ Jason. I need to get my priorities in order.
  18. Hats off to the CG. They are the real Priority1.
  19. Just be glad it's metal, plastic and glass, and not skin and bones. Chit happens.
