  1. Walleye fishing has so many factors. The open water trolling is just one small part of it. Even the open water trolling can be accomplished in a variety of ways, from crawlers to cranks. Hand Lining is popular on the Detroit River. Vertical jigging and long line jigging can also be productive techniques anywhere. Like any sport you never stop learning.
  2. Congrats Dan. This site has benefited from his posts and pics. Dan knows his stuff when it comes to the Saginaw Bay and it's tributaries.
  3. Wtg Storm. It is always good to see kids involved in our sport.
  4. I do think that Walleye needs it's own identity in the photo section. Walleye has filled the huge gap when Salmon fishing went down on the Sunrise Side.
  5. A thought about rods and reels. I take my Salmon reels off the rigger rods, and put the smaller walleye ones on. I used to use the same reels by splicing on a couple of hundred ft of 10# mono. Of course I wouldn't fish Salmon untill Late July and August.
  6. LMAO!!! It never ends Mike. Those boards and flag kits are less money on our side of the Mitt. $20 for the boards and $15 for the flag kit. The Walleye can be challenging to catch, but they sure don't fight like a salmon. It was a pleasure to fish with you and your boys. What Jason said is true on making the flag kit. I made some also. One thing with buying them you get some upgraded releases. The black ones that come with the Offshore boards suck. You can rig flags on the church boards also. I put Offshore flags on Big Jack's Church Boards. Church also makes a flag kit. All that stuff is priced less over here, so us PO BOYS on this side can somewhat afford them.
  7. I keep old busted rods, and use them for parts. I never tried to repair a eye, I just replaced them. Wrap them with thread and steal some of Beth's clear nail polish and give them a few coats. It will likely P-ss her off, but the rod will be good as new.
  8. Congrats on the new arrival. Nice going on the meat rigs.
  9. Sit it out until mid July, and it will be HOT. It's a good time to chase some walleye.
  10. Darn right they were good colors. We set up and never switched a lure. Dan always has good information.
  11. Heck in 40 FOW you could get down with inline weights or bouncers. Capt Ray is on the case. GJ:)
  12. She is looking good. Thanks for the history of the site.
  13. GJ Bill:) Great catch. We all have experienced being on the good end and the bad. Sometimes everything just goes your way, and sometimes not.
  14. Sorry you missed the weigh in Alex. You had a nice catch. A few years back we won a small tournament in Harbor Beach. We just made the cut off by 3 minutes. A friend who made a long run along with us missed it by about 5 minutes. It's the pits when it happens to you.
  15. It was a beautiful day on the water, with a great crew, and two little guys name Hunter and Wyatt. A BIG thanks to Big Jack, rogerh69, and GLF. We did have one glitch, that GLF fixed in a heck of a big hurry. Our main line on our starboard drift bag broke, and the bag wrapped up in the prop. We removed the cooler and Mike H. got out on the swim platform, and saved the day. TY Mike. We were almost through fishing and finished up with just the port bag. I run just one bag a lot of the time. If it's a little rough I run two bags to stabilize the boat and of course slow us down. I now have some swivel hardware for the bags, and will increase the diameter of the mainlines on the bags. We ran the same program I was posting for a couple of weeks. We never switched a bait, and boated well over 20 Keepers. Saginaw Bay has a FANTASTIC walleye fishery. I got a good nights sleep last night. The last few days started at 3-4AM and I didn't get to bed any earlier that 11:30PM. A HUGE TY to Michigan Stinger and GLF for a great tournament. It's always a good time with the guys from this site.
  16. 1. Best lure (Walleye) Purple Crawler harness, Pink Jig (Salmon) Glow Squid and Flasher. 2. Favorite Port to fish (Walleye) AuGres, or Linwood. (Salmon) Manistee 3. Favorite person to fish with. Alex, My 5yo Grandson.
  17. Good job Dan, spoon feeding those eyes.
  18. Thanks to GLF Mike, for running a great tournament and website. Thanks to Michigan Stinger for providing a fantastic lure package at a super price. It was pleasure to have Mike and his two boys aboard. Mike's boys are about 6 and 3 years old, and are the best behaved kids, I have ever seen. Like always, fishing with Big Jack, and rogerh69, makes for a fun trip.
  19. But with the June slow down the July speed up can't be far off. Love that Salmon Slammin.
  20. I fish for Lake Perch on the Saginaw Bay, and have noticed that the perch have gorged themselves with the water fleas. I guess they are off the shrimp family, and the perch sure like them.
  21. Welcome to the site Carl. A lot of members here have that size boat, and will surely ring in with some advice. Again, and very warm welcome to you.
  22. WTG Phil, Adam, and crew. I can't hardly wait to "Gitter Done" on the PlumCrazy.
