  1. Jim, You are 100 % correct on the Okumas. I have an even dozen of the MA20DX 2- MA30DX and at least 4 of the MA45 DX. I haven't had any issues with them. The smaller 20s are used for Spring fishing and all Summer long for walleye. Some people I take out don't know how to handle equipment. They have taken licking and keep on ticking. I do have a couple of Diawas GL 47LCs that I like better, but for the $$$ you can't beat the Okumas. I can buy the 15s for $25 the 20s for $27. Gotta Love Northwoods.
  2. Dan, That wouldn't do you any good, you are already famous. As far as the fortune goes, we all know charter captains have to be loaded just to stay in the game.
  3. I wanted to go today but Big Jack was under the weather. It was a peach of a day. I doesn't look good for about a week. Typical earl Spring weather. I'll splash the Priority1 next week, and do a shakdown cruise. Even if the NE winds are blowing, I'll hit Tawas. Tawas Bay gets a lot of protection from Tawas Pt. Thanks for the report Jay. Better Luck next trip.
  4. I haven't stepped into the new Millennium yet. I'm running an 15yo+ LMS350 combo unit by Lowrance. It takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Actually it was on the boat when I bought it. I have the old style external antenna on top of my hardtop and NEVER lose signal. I will not get a new one until this unit fails. Sorry to hear you bad luck with their products.
  5. GJ Duane. Thanks for the report.
  6. No reason why they shouldn't do well.
  7. If you can carefully remove the old floor sections you can use them as patterns for the new floor. I know some people that have put a thin putty coat of a FG material on both sides and the edges. Whatever you do, do NOT used pressure treated plywood.
  8. The only problem with a reset button, is it would get reset accidentally. It happens on the reels some times.
  9. Tony, She did an excellent job.
  10. It's a good time to buy toys. Congrats Nick.
  11. GJ Dan, except in the photo dept. It takes a while to gain the feel that you have acquired. Sometimes it's what you don't feel that tips you. If Mark keeps hanging with you, he will pick it up.
  12. John, Maybe some of the students in the welding program could design and build a custom set up for you. If any of them like to fish, their wheels are already spinning. A little $$ and a fishing trip or two. Everyone does a GUBMINT job or two.
  13. You may want to contact Tony @ Lord of the Riggers. They have some real good deals on some Big Jon Rod Holders. They are an advertiser here also. Here is a link to their site. I think he may even have some new ones that he removed from some down riggers. Give him a try. A friend just bought some bird trees from him a week ago. Here is his link. http://www.lordoftheriggers.com/
  14. I think Walleye Express (Dan) is a big fan of the Red Cajun Line.
  15. It will only get better Jay. Good Job. I think we may get a window Thursday.
  16. It looks like you will beat me. Are you slipping it at the same place?
  17. I have used some of the red lines, and also the pink Ande. I have had good results with both, but I'm not sure that it was better than the clear.
  18. Thank you Al. Sponsors are what keeps this site afloat.

  21. Joe, Sorry about your bad experience with Sub-Troll. I guess any product can have a problem, but the way they are handled is what separates the good from the bad.
