  1. What a day for the bay. I fished with some VG fishermen today Jim M Sr, Jim M Jr, and Gary W. We took a four man limit including 2 Flathead cats. We also farmed about 6-8 future keepers and another Flathead. The fish we were on were not that active and the action was slow but with the good conditions and good camaraderie it made for a super day. We were in 12-15 FOW. 3oz BB on the down rods with glow chartreuse blades did a lot of the damage. Monkey Puke or antifreeze did good also with 1oz BB off the Offshore boards. Speed was varied between 1.4 to 1.8 MPH. Water temps were 73-74 on the surface. We had a couple of fish around 23" and a lot of them that didn't need measuring. If you pay your dues the inner bay will give up her bounty. I love every minute I spend on the Bay. GO FISH!
  2. Mike, Thanks for the report and GJ as always.
  3. Roger, It was my pleasure meeting and talking with you and Scott. It was great that you and Dale have similar Sportcrafts and were able to compare notes. I'm sure you'll feel welcome and fit right in at the Au Gres YC. Gotta love what we have going on the SB.
  4. Give me a shout some time. Maybe we can trade a trip. When you finally retire you'll shun the weekends also. I fish Sat and Sun once in awhile if the weather is bad during the week. Ya know us junkies have to get our fix.
  5. Ed, How have you been doing? Have you retired yet? I heard you have a new boat.
  6. I had the pleasure of fishing with Tom D, and Mike T, and enjoyed the good company and nice day. Anything over my head is deep water so we set up in 12 and probably got as deep as 15 FOW. It was a slow pick on a beautiful day. We boated our 15 keepers as well as a few future keepers. The inner bay is still loaded with nice fish. We also kept a 6-7# channel cat that Tom wanted. Our best producer was a plain gold blade up high. We ran 1oz BB off the boards and 3oz BB off the down rods. As usual the down rods did their share. We were trolling 1.8+ MPH to keep the sheep off. Most of our fish didn't need measuring. The borderline fish were borderline under and that bodes well for our future. The fish are well fed on bugs, shad, and minnows. GO FISH!
  7. Tony, A warm to the GLF site. Just holler if you need some help.
  8. Bob, GJ on the shore pike. They are excellent eating. I have a neighbor who prefers them. We catch a few each year trolling for walleye on the SB.
  9. GJ on the eyes. You have a beautiful family. It was good seeing you and Scott at the ramp Fri. We fished the outer also and made quick work of some nice fish. Those pics are priceless.
  10. I had the pleasure of Fishing with Dale B, Karl M, and Joe S. We started the day with solid 2 foot waves with an occasional 3 footer. The Bay's wave frequency made it impossible to Run up against them without pounding equipment and bodies. We set up in 30 FOW and had 5 eyes going up hill. We turned around and picked up 6 going downhill. The wind and waves laid down to about 1 footers and the bite slowed significantly. We added another 5 for a total of 16 walleye and two perch before calling it quits. We threw back about 7 or 8 undersized walleye and a few 6-7 inch perch. Best color was a glow chartreuse and a speed of 1.4 to 1.7 MPH. The down rods did more than their share. No pics today. It was a good time with good people. There was a couple at the ramp that came in empty. I gave them 4 walleye and I didn't have to clean any fish.
  11. Ed, Thanks for the report and GJ out of my favorite Lk MI port.
  12. I fished with Al S, Chuck A, and Rod B, in 30+ FOW on the Saginaw Bay. It started slow for us and we had some rough conditions. The wind died down a bit and we were able to start working our program more effectively. Glow Chartreuse was by far our best producer. We ran two down rods with 3 oz BB and 8 Offshore boards with 2 oz BB. When it calmed down we only need 8 fish and they came quickly. Usually I'd put 2 more boards in the spread but the 8 boards were manageable so we left well enough alone. 20 fish box on a fairly nice morning. Everyone onboard was capable and it made for a pleasurable trip for all. Most of the fish came right off the bottom with a few just up slightly. One down rod accounted for about 8 of our fish. Fish on those down rods are pennies from heaven. The Bay is producing shallow fish and deep fish. I have friends doing well 10 FOW.
  13. I fished with Joe S, Doug, and Doug's son Tyler. Tyler got to reel in most of the fish. 4 man limit. Two down rods with 3oz BB and 10 Offshore boards with 2oz BB. Unlike yesterday the down rods only took 3 fish. Most of the fish were coming high and also a little up from the bottom. 1.4 MPH. Color didn't seem to matter. I'll try it again tomorrow. I gave my fish away today.
  14. I had the pleasure of fishing with Joe S, and Tom and Cherry E. It was definitely pennies from heaven as the two down rods accounted for over half of our 20 fish. Both those rods had a glow chartreuse blade and a 3 oz BB. 2 oz BB off the boards. Most fish came deep but a few were well up from the bottom. It was dead calm with a lot of bugs and the bite was slow. The wind picked up slightly and so did the bite. Then the wind died as did the bite. It was a beautiful day if you could tune out the bugs. We had one boat troll in back of us briefly, but for the most part there wasn't a boat within two miles of us. We farmed two keepers at the end.
  15. Steve, A warm to GLF. Holler if you need any help.
  16. Have you tried contacting Lowrance. I still use my old LMS 350A and prefer it to a color unit I have sitting right along side it. Good Luck finding the information you need. Search sites where someone may be selling one like eBay. You may be able to talk the person into scanning the manual and emailing it to you.
  17. I Googled my old LMS 350A and was able to come up with a PDF of it's manual. Maybe try it with your model #. Here a link for the 350A. http://www.lowrance.com/Root/Lowrance-Documents/LMS-350a_0133-01.pdf A warm to the GLF site.
  18. I enjoyed fishing with you and your uncle Walter. When ever you can put the hammer down come on back and we can try to put the hammer down on some more eyes.
  19. Today I had the pleasure of fishing with Don M, Joe S, and Bob. It wasn't near as fast as yesterday but we still put a couple in the box before we could get set up. A glow chartreuse spinner was HOT and we were done putting 20 eyes in the box about 9:35. We also farmed two keepers at the end. Speed was 1.1 to 1.7 MPH. 3oz BB off the down rods and 2oz BB off the 10 Offshore boards. Bob and Joe were the young pups and Don and I the old dogs. Don and I just growled at them until they got it done. Actually it was a great team effort, with everyone onboard knowing exactly what needed to be done. It made for an easy trip for all of us. We fished 27 to 32 FOW. It's an ever changing game and you have to stay tuned to what the fish want. The set backs that were good yesterday were not acceptable today. Most fish taken were at or near the bottom. I gave my 5 fish away. I can't use near the fish I catch and the folks I give them to are always grateful. Gotta Luv Dat Bay.
  20. Tim we have been fishing a little S. I know people doing well right out front also. There is a lot of fish in the system.:)
