  1. I live about 25 miles S of there. Whitefish, and Steel would be the main game but walleye may be in the mix also.
  2. She looks good.
  3. Gotta love em especially the Hardtops.
  4. Ed, I'm sure it taste as good as it looks. I love smoke cheese, fish, and meat.
  5. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. I'm thankful that we have this place to hang.
  6. Jeff, WTG. Keep after them.
  7. You could run one a few feet off center.
  8. Robert, Thanks for the advice. I was leaning towards a Sony. My Nikon did me well until it took a good splash. I think I had it for 7 or 8 years. My son and DIL have a Cyber Shot and like it. Sometimes just before Christmas the large chain stores offer camera bundles at a reduced price. If anyone comes across a good deal let me know. Frank
  9. Steve, A warm welcome to the GLF site.
  10. The fly looks good. There are some others here that tie their own. SeaMac and Caznick are two that come to mind.
  11. Description of Rod Rack. I have a small ledge where the garage stud wall meets the concrete block foundation. I used two 1X3 about 12 ft long. Mine had to run from a corner to a window. The bottom board was fastened to the ledge and 1-1/8 flat bottom holes were bored half way through the bottom board at 6 inch centers for the rod buts to sit in. I used a self feed forstener bit with a 1/2 inch drill motor for this task. I have three blocks showing inside that garage wall so the rods are well off the floor. The top board was already in place as a means to hang garage stuff. In the top board I used small screw hooks @ appropriate centers and pinched the hook so the rods would easily snap into them. Cheap and easy. The rods are up off the floor, which was my main goal. The bad thing about this rack is it doesn't accommodate all my rods. My wife knows all my rods are not in the rack, but yet it's full. It's just too easy for her to take inventory. Are you getting my drift. My garage is somewhat unique because the floor drops about 14 inches for the third bay. That is why there are 3 blocks showing on the inside. It was designed that way to give me a 10 ft high by 12 ft wide overhead door for boat storage. Usually my boat never gets covered and spends the nights in the garage. D@#n too much verbiage. Gotta get a new camera.
  12. I would have posted them already but my Nikon Cool Pix 5000 is on the blink. Boats take their toll on photo equipment. I'm looking for a new point and shoot camera $80-$120. I think I'll eBay the old one and it's good batteries and chargers unless someone here can use the parts and accessories.
  13. GJ Kevin, Ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
  14. I just built a rack for some rods on a garage wall. It holds 21 rods. I have my 18 walleye trolling rods in it and a couple of extras.
  15. It wasn't too long ago that the rod limit was two in Michigan. This was expanded to three rods for salmon. I think the three rod rule for salmon only caused some enforcement problems for the DNR. Someone could be fishing for walleye and claim they were salmon fishing. So now we have a three rod rule for everyone in Michigan. One person with three rods, or two people with six will have their hands full. I fish what I think is a big spread for walleye, (12 rods) when crew and conditions are right. Crew and conditions are very important factors. Three rods per angler is plenty. I don't have anyone onboard that doesn't have a license. This is just asking for trouble.
  16. GJ Mike. Nothing wrong with doing battle with 19. Gotta love it.
  17. It is my understanding that copper and leadcore should be run completely out and boards attached to the backer. The two things that come into play are the wear the releases have on the copper or core and the constant wear the guides would have on them. I know some have segmented the stuff but to me splices are where failure is likely to occur. There are others here with a lot more knowledge than me on this subject. I'm sure they will chime in and we will all learn something.
  18. Jimmy, That's quite a project but I know you will do it right.
  19. Ken nice pic of the sunset.
  20. Some nice Erie eyes.
  21. Peter, Congrats. ^5s
  22. We used to do that a lot when tourney fishing and needed the fish. We would have someone on ever deep rigger to keep adjusting them and keep them in the zone. You don't want to drag bottom only skip or tick it like Matt said.
