Bingo!!!! A nuclear charge is not necessary and can repel fish. I like using my halogen spreader lights to charge them. A quick couple of seconds next to the lights works for me. I think you are referring to the glows and super glows and not the UVs.

I have worked on my older Cannons and anyone with basic electrical skills wouldn't have any difficulties with them. There are Cannon repair place in Muskegon and one near Algonac for parts. These motors are simple DC motors controlled by a DPDT switch. Here is a link that shows the wiring for a common DPDT reversing type switch. I hope this helps you. http://www.eleinmec.com/article.asp?12

I usually have a few spoons out on the engine cover soaking up some rays from the spreader lights. Just before I put them on the line I hold them close in front of a spreader light for a few seconds.

Rod Holder Tree vs. Pedestal Holder
Priority1 replied to alexalyn's topic in Boat Maintenance and Rigging
I like trees for boards. It gets your rods forward and stacked out of the fish catching area. I have run Dipseys from the bottom tree holder but mine are custom and supported top and bottom. If you plan on running 3 or more boards a side then by all means go with trees and a single quality rod holder for a Dipsey on both sides. Everyone likes what they like. Your best bet would be to fish with someone else on a similar size boat before rigging yours. -

Stainless Steel Rod Holders
Priority1 replied to Building C's's topic in Boat Maintenance and Rigging
William, VN rig there. You could use a standard 7/8 or 1 inch Stainless rail and standard hardware fastened under the arch. The rail could be bent to the contour. The SS rail would match your bimini hardware. Standard clamp on Stainless rod holders could then be added. I made SS trees and a rocket launcher for my Hardtop Islander. If you don't like the clamp on rail type SS rod holders they make some that weld on also. If you like the clamp on holders a canvas shop could probably instal the rail. The rail could be supported a few places along it's length. If you decide you want a full custom set up Bob Keitzman from Bay City MI may be able to help you. If you contact him tell him Priority1 Frank recommended him. Frank from Calumet Marine may also be able to help. He would be a lot closer to you. http://www.ebay.com/itm/FISHING-ROD-HOLDER-CLAMP-RAIL-304-SS-89151-/250953253199?pt=Boat_Parts_Accessories_Gear&vxp=mtr&hash=item3a6dfac14f Here is a pic of some trees I fabricated using 7/8 standard ss rail, 2 inch ss exhaust tube, and some custom made fittings for the gunnel and hardtop. -
RIP and prayers for his family.

Kyle, Nice looking boat and hardtop. The hardtop looks factory made.

I was by no means referring to someone with an interest in learning the ropes. I have been helped and helped others also. Anyone that shows interest should know enough that when a fish is on, that takes priority over a BS session. If BS session takes priority over fishon then they can sit in the truck. Some get it and some never will. That's my point.

I have run with one battery that the electronics and everything else on the boat was hooked to. There is usually no problems with the electronics if they are hooked directly to the battery. If electronics are hooked to the ignition wiring that is where problems escalate. One battery or two, things have to be wired correctly. The VSR sounds like a very good option to have. It prioritizes the starting battery and gives the other battery what it can. Maybe the other Frank will chime in.

James, The new boat looks great. I can't wait to read your first fishing report this Spring.

Bob, I have seen all kinds of inconsiderate stuff at the ramps. Nothing much is worse than waiting on boaters prepping in the ramp area. It makes it worse when they drive past you in the prep area and then you have to wait for them while they prep on the ramp. Most of these same idiots have little knowledge of etiquette on the water. Most of this stuff is covered in boaters safety classes. Why is it that you have to pass a test to drive a car but nothing is required to operate a boat? What makes these scenes especially bad is when the morons have kids with them. They are bringing up a new generation that think these actions are the norm. It would be nice if once in awhile there were authorities at the ramps that would enforce the rules. Maybe these goofballs just don't know.

Don, We have all had people onboard that just don't get it. When the lines are all set and were waiting on the next fish there is some time for visiting. A lot of prep time goes into a successful trip and most of it is done by the person that owns the boat. It is down right disrespectful to not get with the program when the time comes to do so. Everyone I fish with understands this concept. There is usually a flurry of action at certain times and most know that if you capitalize on the good bite you will be successful. The ones that just don't get it can find another hobby. JMO "Are you going to get that fish or should I come off the helm and do it"

The colors do seem to POP on the UV stuff.

Jason, She's a keeper alright.

Terry's former boat the old Dirty Dog had a homemade hard top on it. I don't think he built it but may be able to point you in the right direction. My rig has a factory hardtop. I would think that one could be fabricated rather easily. Maybe a pickup topper would be a good start. There are lots of them available at reasonable prices. Being able to TIG weld or knowing someone that does would be a plus. Fiberglass skills would also be nice.

Separate storm and sanitary sewers is the answer. Storm and sanitary sewers should have never been combined. Dumping this crap in a lake river or stream is a sin. Store the sewage in the towns streets and basements until they figure out a solution. It probably wouldn't take generations that way.

Mike, GJ on the Steel. -
The two best things about these spoons they're stamped from stainless steel, and they come with a quality hook.

I read the thread and at last the question in my mind was answered. Not too terrible on the budget for what it does.
