  1. Capt. Fuzzy Bear is a big man with a bigger message. He was lucky but his skill played a big part in returning safely. A lesser boat or captain would probably not have made it. His fishing info is also great. If you have not watched this video please watch the first 5 or 10 minutes at least. Never underestimate the power of a Great Lakes Storm. If you error do it on the side of caution. I just thought I'd bump this very important thread to the top.
  2. Sounds good Tony. I'm flexible.
  3. Six new boxes of 65# 150 yd. Spiderwire Stealth Super Braid Moss Green. Great for divers. $5 each take all 6 for $25. Use mono backer and fill the rest of the way with braid.
  4. Troy, I fish a lot out of AuGres Mon-Fri. Just holler if ya want to jump on with us. We start getting real serious about the middle of May but I do get in a few trips before that.
  5. The biggest problem today is the news media. The DNR shouldn't let the word out on stuff like this. Just do what needs to be done and keep it quiet. Ohhhhh Nooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are killing those beautiful Swans. I would think these would be good table fare. Maybe even better than goose breast. I know some of the European Immigrants talked about eating them in their native lands.
  6. Troy, The walleye are on a mission right now. The river will hold a few fish year around but the bulk of the fish in the rivers now are there for spawning. After April the bulk of the fish will be in the Bay. Gotta Luv what we all have going.
  7. Nice catch Ed.
  8. Get out the multitester and start at the motor and see if you have power there when the control is activated. Keep eliminating things step by step.
  9. Shannon, It looks good. I'm sure the second edition will be even better.
  10. No where near double the money. http://www.lordoftheriggers.com/products/?cat=14 Give Tony a call.
  11. Matt better you than us. We got plenty of rain last night and some snow this afternoon but it melted as quick as it fell. We had some thunder and lightning last night.
  12. Sherman, Ya know what they say, "ya can never have too many rod holders". We have all been there as far as the price goes. Some times ya pull the trigger too quick and sometimes too slow.
  13. Ed, You could take ole Justin Wilson's place on TV. Everything looks so appetizing. I can smell the aroma over the web. I like your smoker. Do you have more than one tier? Show use more pics on the 55 gal drum smoker. Ed Bs Smokin 101.
  14. Sherman, Good post. I think we can all relate to making do with what we have.
  15. I was at the show in 2010 and was going to go this year. Fridays weather forecast kept me home. I usually hole up over the weekends. Thanks for the input on the show. It must have slipped a ton in the last few years. I used to spend an hour or better just looking at the boats. The tackle vendors always seemed to have some deals as well as tips for their products. I'd always run into a few people I know and a BS session would certainly break out. The steelheaders would always have some fish cooking for a lil snack.
  16. Marc, A warm welcome to the GLF site.
  17. Troy, All they have to do is open the Sanford Dam and Swoosh. This and the other tributaries all add to the water clarity and current. The Saginaw River is the neck of a huge funnel. It's amazing the number of square miles in it's watershed. I'm glad you managed a few yesterday.
  18. I sure like threads like this with step by step pics. That was quite a Winter project Jimmy.
  19. I have been to the Birch Run show in the past and found plenty there. I don't think it's as big as GR or Novi, and maybe that's you friend was comparing it to. In the past I have spent a few hrs there.
  20. Thanks Bomber. I used to jig the rivers quite regularly even after work. We usually used grub tails and stingers weren't necessary. Some times we would tip them with a piece of crawler or minnow head. Chartreuse was always good and another favorite of mine was pink and white combo. When they are in the river post and pre spawn they will smack the heck out of anything. If the getting wasn't so good in the Summer months I'd probably get back into it. Back then we'd seldom hook any juveniles. Most were 3# plus. Here's a pic of my former rig that is still in the family.
  21. It's done like this with a haywire twist. Dayum!!!! It sounds like a dance.
  22. Mark, Thanks for posting this. I'm sure everyone here can get something out of this. I'll have to take some time later to watch the whole thing.
