  1. Good job Tom.
  2. Good job! We'll be out of PS on saturday and I'm looking forward to it.
  3. We caught more fish on Mags than standard last weekend, but caught them on both. Good colors for us were Mag Polish Blue Dolphin (Yeck), Fireball w/ earrings (Yeck), Mag Caramel Dolphin (Dreamweaver), Mag Jerry Lee (Silver Streak), and a silver/green Mag Dreamweaver. But pretty much everything we put down took a hit.
  4. The dunes start just south of the harbor, if you head out southwest you will be in front of the first one by the time you get rods set.
  5. I think you have a pretty good plan. The lake is supposed to be calmer tomorrow so hopefully you'll get a few reports to help you out. Good luck!
  6. As far as where to start, 70' sounds good but there should be some reports by then that will help you narrow down your start. And I usually run either northwest or southwest. Then when you hit fish turn and run parallel to the shore. The DNR launch is over by the State Park. They have a great new fish cleaning station there. Inlines and riggers are good, if you get time later you can try running the dipsey. Start with what you are comfortable with. If you have some flasher and fly combos don't be afraid to run them. I caught a steelie on a 3 color with an F18 Purpledescent Rapala saturday. We were trying to target steelies in the top of the water column after the sun came up. Last weekend there was no pattern that I could find, almost everything we ran went. I was trolling 2.7-2.9 SOG last weekend. There are no nets. Be careful if you plan on going out in the dark. If you have a chip in your GPS it will help you get across Lake Mac to the channel. There is a large No Wake area in front of the launch and the channel entrance, make sure you obey this when coming back in. The channel entrance is kind of around the corner and can be a little confusing in the dark if you are not familiar with it. There are a bunch of guys on here that fish Holland regularly and can be more help than I am. Good luck!
  7. Sometimes it's tough to diagnose intermittent problems. On my old boat we chased a bad cylinder around for a while before realizing the spark plug was cracked. At least you got good news Phil!
  8. A lot of guys drift harnesses or troll real slow, like 1-1.3 mph. 3 rods per person, same as everywhere else in Michigan.
  9. Leeches are productive on Houugton also drifting around the weed beds. Otherwise any standard walleye technique is worth a shot. I'm not sure what the situation is up there with the weeds this year, I heard they nuked them again.
  10. What a fish!
  11. Well, it's nice to post a report instead of reading them! We setup in 90' around 6 am and things were crazy right from the start. Started setting rods and they were firing as soon as they hit the water. Polsih Blue Dolphin on a rigger down 60' went a few times, Fireball w/ earrings on a half core went a few times. Wire diver on 1 out 125' with a Frog/chrome SD and blue fly went once with our big fish of the day, about 12-13 lbs. 7 color w/ mag Jerry Lee went once or twice, full core with a silver/green Dreamweaver spoon wnet once, SWR down 60' w/ a carmel dolphin went twice and a 3 color with an F18 Purpledescent Rapala went once. Pulled lines at 2 pm and ended up 10/15 but should have had more, ended up getting pushed outside all the way out to 200' when it would have been better to turn inside, best water was 90-125', out to 140' later in the day. Had an interesting double, the half core started peeling line and I reeled it in, I could see the fish below the surface when I saw another fish behind it, the half core has tangled with the 3 color and they both had fish. Netted the first one and after a little confusion with the second one tangling around the ladder, netted the second fish. Great day on the water, marked fish everywhere inside 150'. Surface temp was 49 degrees in the 100' range and 44 degrees out in 200'. Nice running into (almost literally) Jimbobber and thanks for the info from Team Plumkrazy. Jim and I got caught in between a couple of boats and couldn't get out of each other's way. One of these days I'll catch more fish than Plumkrazy Adam, he always beats me!
  12. Good job, good report, and welcome!
  13. Good job! I have never fished HR but now that I have a little boat I'll have to keep it in mind. I'm going to try and do more inland lake fishing when I have the chance.
  14. Well, if it's fiberglass, older and/or has been slipped, a survey is a good idea. It really sucks to spend the money on a boat only to find out later it isn't seaworthy. I can't remember the name of the surveyor I used but I know he is a charter captain out of Grand Haven. I'm sure someone here will know his name and be able to recommend a mechanic for you. It's out of my area. But good luck.
  15. Do you just want a mechanic to look it over or do you want a survey?
  16. Good job, hope they are still there saturday!
  17. Good job and thanks for the report!
  18. Welcome aboard! Let us know if you need any help or have any questions.
  19. I have a 340c and really like it. Make sure you get the dual frequency or Airmar P66 transducer, I switched this year and in the 1 time I have been able to get out it seems to have a lot more clarity. I'll be able to get a better feel for it on saturday.
  20. Congrats Mark!
  21. Good job guys! The fish look pretty healthy in the pic, bet they put up a good fight!
  22. I signed you up Bob.
