I like the singles for the reasons others have stated. But I have noticed that on certain spoons they do seem to kill the action. But for most spoons they don't matter. Everyone says that keeping your hooks sharp is the most important thing. It is much easier to keep a single sharp than a treble. I check the hook every time I have a hit. I keep a hook file right next to the pliers on the back of the boat. Usually it only takes 1 or 2 swipes on the single and they are back in the water, sharp and ready to go. There is one brand of spoon that I don't sharpen the hooks on. Those are the Big Lake Lures spoons. I don't know what brand they are but they are so hard I can't seem to sharpen them. And they are wicked sharp out of the package.

John, does your wife fish with you? If she does just make her drive a few times. After that she will be begging for the AP. When we got the new boat that was the one thing my wife wanted. She hates driving. Now we both enjoy it more when she goes along. -
I'm guessing this is the one Matt is talking about: http://www.ingham.org/fb/Off_Season.htm

You'll have to do some adjusting on options and things but here's the NADA guide. Or you can just give it to me:) http://www.nadaguides.com/Motorcycles/2005/Polaris/INDY-500-CLASSIC-488cc/Standard-Equipment

Thanks Mike! I went out and looked at my transfer switch and decided to call the company that installed it. I'm not sure what exactly is hooked up to it and I put our fridge on a seperate circuit so I doubt that is on there. The shop is just a mile down the road so I think I'll give them a call and check again on what I need.
-
Well I don't need a welder and I don't need to run the entire house. I already have a transfer switch so I just need a generator that is large enough to run everything on the switch.
-
After reading your replies I went and checked on the Onan and Honda generators. The largest Onan I have found is 5 kw and the largest Honda is 6.5 kw. From talking to an electrical engineer it doesn't seem that these will be large enough to run the whole house. We live in the country so it has to run a well pump as well as the furnace and regular household electronics. Oh, and the Honda was about $4500, which is out of my budget range. Any other ideas guys?

OK guys, after 2 power outages the boss finally gave me permission to pull the trigger on a generator. I know that everyone is going to suggest an LP standby unit but that isn't going to happen. We don't plan on staying in our house for that long and don't want to spend that kind of money on something we will barely get the chance to use. I have been looking at portable units in the 7000-8500 watt range with electric start. I would like to have an invertor as the boss works from home when the weather is bad and I think that would help make the power "cleaner" for running computers. Any advice on specific units or what I should be looking for would be great.

We got somewhere between 8-18". I'm thinking closer to a foot. It's so hard to tell as we live on top of a hill in the middle of fields. Everything blows around and drifts in. We got 4" yesterday morning before the big storm. The supervisors said that over 100 people had taken today off when I left last night out of about 300. And they were taking calls left and right. I heard they closed GM and the State offices in Lansing.

I got called home by the wife at 2 am because we didn't have power. Made it all the way home and got my truck stuck at the end of the driveway. Had to get the snowblower out and get rid iof the 4' drifts in order to get my truck off the road. Consumers says the power will be on by 8 am so I typing by lantern right now. Shelley finally agreed with me that a generator would be a good idea. I'lll try to get a picture of the shoulder high drift in my back yard.

I agree with what the others have said. I also like to lengthen the leads on my riggers and maybe even pull a couple of lines.

Nels, I'm not 100% sure that I can make it because I don't know what my work schedule will be in June yet. Can I sign up as a tentative yes or on a reserve list? Either way, great job on this event. I am sure the vets will appreciate it.

Welcome back Jon! I personally feel that it is good to take chances and try new things. This one didn't work out but now you won't have any regrets. Look forward to seeing you out on the water this summer. Good luck.

I agree with Aaron and Ken. I have had good luck with WMP.

New to Lake Erie Walley Guy (Lk MI Rookie)
Paulywood replied to N II Deep's topic in Ohio Waters Fishing Reports - Walleye
Sorry Jon, the fight of a walleye is going to be a disappointment after fishing kings on Lake Michigan. I would suggest you target the steelies when you can to get your fill of fighting fish. Then you can spend the summer reeling in those tasty branches, I mean walleye:) -
Frank at Calumet Marine carried it last year, pretty sure he will have it this year too.

I have used the Convector's for wire and they worked fine. However, I do think that the drags on the Daiwa Sealines are a little smoother for wire. The price is pretty similar.
-
I have been very happy with Ande. I buy it in bulk, either from Jay's or Cabela's if I am in the area. Saves on shipping. I use 15# for spoons and 20# for flashers. I have always used the green but don't know if it really matters.

copper setups with blood run tackle
Paulywood replied to tracker targa's topic in Salmon Pro's Connection
I would suggest you look at the Okuma Clarion reels for copper. They have a higher retrieve ratio to get that long line in fast. I don't have any copper yet but plan on adding some this year and will be using those reels. -
I have a light line rod that I use and it has caught fish for me. But not nearly as many as my wire divers. I wouldn't leave home without my wire divers.
