  13. Food chain broken, salmon may starve Monday, March 27, 2006 By Jeff Alexander CHRONICLE STAFF WRITER Charter boat anglers caught a near-record number of chinook salmon last year in Lake Michigan, according to the latest state data. So why were fisheries experts and charter boat captains looking so worried at a meeting in Grand Haven this weekend? Because the foundation of the Lake Michigan food chain is eroding and chinook salmon are in danger of running out of food. Anglers and biologists don't want West Michigan's great lake to go the way of Lake Huron, where the salmon fishery has virtually disappeared due to a lack of food. Food chain broken, salmon may starve
  14. Everyone should be at the "LODGE" around 2:00-2:30ish
  15. Welcome aboard Steve.
  16. Rumor has it that no one is catching any fish out of St. Joe so no need to bring any gear because you’ll just be washing baits. See you all on Friday or Saturday and if the weather hold out we should be weighing a few fish. Now where are those spring kings? Steve
  17. Here is direction to the "LODGE" (Steve's house) for those that have not been there before. Map Quest directions to the "LODGE" You could also take US31 South to Exit 18 (Tabor Rd.) turn east on tabor and at the first stop sign turn left and it's the first driveway on the left hand side. Steve
  18. Well, I was able to get the boat out for the shake-down cruise Saturday morning along with Hoot aboard. We ran pass Catfish as he was setting up at the pier heads and ran down to the pumping station and set-up in between the sand bars. Stayed on the troll all the way down to the chalets then turned around and trolled back end up going 4 for 5 with a nice 7 1/2lb brown, 2lb brown and (2) Coho. With out given away any secrets for next weekend most fish were on body baits. By the time we got back to the pumping station we had all of 3-4 footers. Things that I foregot to do: Change prop, put spoon box in boat, Make up mote leaders, find plug for live well. Steve
  19. During the Spring I like to spread them wide! I like to run no less the 6 rods and I'll run planers, riggers and divers (come on spring kings). 2 & 3 color core, wire, 12 to 17lb mono on boards. baits that I'll run are Flasher/Flies, thunder sticks, Hot-N-Tots, Standard size spoons and just about any body baits in any color. Steve
  20. 12lb ANDE is the lightest that I will go. I have that on my rigger rods. I have 17 or 20 XT-Trilene for planer rods, 25lb mono, 50lb braid and 30lb wire for my divers I know years back fishing with Adjusted (Mark) we used 10lb ANDE on the riggers. Steve
