    A buddy and I trolled it two Sundays ago during overcast and a hard NE and got nothing. In my experience most of our kings show up after three years so with us only getting a plant on even years the even years are relatively dead. I did really good on late summer mature kings straight out from Holland in 2017, 2019 and last year before the tropical heat screwed it up but 2018, 2020, and this year were dead for me.     I like it and don't like it at the same time. I'm glad we're getting a bump but by the sounds of it they're all going up north and it's the southern ports that need it the most. Jay Wesley also said when I asked him about the southern ports that they're no longer planting Holland moving forward due to predation from walleye and musky plants.     Awesome to see Holland get a good harbor run, that brings me back to my childhood in the 2000's hay day. Can I ask how long of leaders you run on your downriggers in that close?     I highly doubt the DNR is gonna go after anyone for keeping a foul hooked salmon way out on lake Michigan. If you were out there trolling the fish clearly went after it and you just got a really unfortunate hookup. The DNR is more interested in people intentionally snagging in channels and rivers where fish stack up and you can basically shoot fish in a barrel.     Maybe it's just me but it seems like the pier runs have really just fizzled out in recent years. When I was a kid in the 2000's every port it seemed would get a week or so window where they would hang out in front of the piers and in the channels but now even on good runs they seem to go from deep straight to the headwaters or rivers.     We went out of Holland this morning and for the second straight trip got skunked. We saw some enticing marks in 125 ft right off the bat but no hits and when we turned back they were gone. The water was 44 degrees 60 ft down so I can't blame the water for being piss warm this time. The DNR planting data shows some got planted in both Holland and Saugatuck in 2018 so I keep expecting them to come back but it looks like they either vacated north or are doing a great job at avoiding us. With our dock coming out next weekend and my dad and I both getting busy after that this is probably the end of my trolling season, bummer it had to go out with a whimper but it also looks like just about everyone on the southern end of the lake is struggling.     We trolled from 6 to 11:30 and ended up 2 for 4 with a 2# laker and a 4# coho. We had two hits in 115 fow and, one in 190 fow, and the laker was just dangling there when I reeled in a line to check it.     We trolled from 6 to 11 am from 150 to 180 ft, ended up 1 for 2 with a 14# king, finally snapping my dad's godawful dry spell, both hits in 170 fow.     I've been out four times this season out of Holland and have marked zero bait fish. Meat rigs have accounted for every one of my kings which usually never happens to me in May

    We fished from 6 to 10:30 from 160 to 210 fow and ended up 2 for 3 with a 14# and almost 27# king, all right around 190. Sorry if you're the boat we got awkwardly close to, the second king crossed three other lines and was causing a rats nest tangle so we had to click it in neutral.     We fished from 6:30 to 10 am then the fog chased us off. Despite a break off and a downrigger going out if commission we ended up 2 for 3 with a 17# and 21# king, all three hits in 160 fow.     We trolled from 7:30 to 11:30 am, started in 210 fow and trolled out to 250 then back to 210. Ended up 2 for 3 with a 13 lb king and 2 lb coho. Every hit came in 240 ft. I've never seen an alewife so big in a small coho's belly.     We trolled from about about 160 to 190 fow from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. Marked absolutely nothing but went 1 for 1 with a 12 lbs king in 170 fow.
