  1. Set lines west out of the piers in 100' at 6:30. We had our first fish on Wire Diver out 115 on 2 before 4 lines were even in. Nice 10lb King. Re set WD and DR fired with a Nice Steelie that came unleashed behind the boat. Worked out to 140' no takers. Worked back in to 90' and made the turn West again and took two more fish on 300 copper and wire diver out 125'. Took one more Steelie on DR down 60 with Blue Coyote Spoon before turning back to the East. Made our last pass West about 11:00 and 300 copper goes off burying the board, then the 200 copper goes off with another fish while trying to get the 300 board above water, as this chaos takes place the wire diver takes another rip and now we have 3 fish on with two guy's in the boat trying to drive, reel, net and avoid a mess. With all luck all 3 fish are boated with a nice 20lb king on the 300, 8lb coho on the 200 and a 10lb steelie on the wire. Ended 7 for 8 for the day. What worked (all fish came on West Troll) Chrome Frog SD with Pickled Sunshine teaser rig took 2 on 300' Copper ( Hot Ticket on our boat this year)!!!!!!! Kevorkian SD with Green Bead Mirage took 1 on 200 copper Chrome Frog SD with Pickled Sunshine Teaser Rig took 2 on Wire Diver Blue Coyote Spoon took 1 on DR 60' down Natural Born Killer SD with Pickled Sunshine Fly took 1 on DR set at 75' down
  2. We have the HDS7 and absolutely love it! The 8 would be better with preset soft keys.
  3. Very nice, looks like a lot of clean space to mount gear!
  4. Went out in the heavy fog out of GH around 5:00. Worked out way West cautiously until 90' or so when the Fog was a bit thinner. Took first hit on Kevorkian SD on 200' copper, came off. 2nd was a nice King on 5 color with ACE Hi Green Spatterback Glow in 150'. 3rd fish was a small king on DR 62 down on Moonshine Happy Meal. 4th fish came after dark as we were working in on Green Glow J-Plug, nice king with every hook buried. Fun in the dark! On our way in 90' to 60' the graph was lit up solid with fish heading towards the piers. Great night despite the heavy FOG! We love our New Lowrance HDS, now we need to add radar to it! That would have been a solid must last night & today it appears.
  5. Nice Night for a Swim! at least the water was warm.
  6. Wow, Nice catch Jon, wish we could have had a day like that on the Auto Value outing. When is your new ride coming?
  7. Went out to 120 and set lines about 5:00. Took first fish on DR 10" C/B SD with Blue Dolphin fly 19.7lb. missed the next 1 on the way out to 190. Turned east and hit another King on 200 copper w/ C/Kevorkian SD with Mirage Fly 12lb. Hit another fish on DD at 90 back w/mag ring c/Kevorkian w/ pickled sunshine fly 5 lb greaser. 200 copper fires with a small coho same rig. Down Rigger fires same 10" c/b SD with another nice 17lb king 160'. 200 copper fires w/ a loss. 150 copper fires with Mixed Blue Veggie spoon 8lb king 100' and another big rip on 200 copper same rig 15lb king 100'. Ended up 6/9 all together. Lots of chaos w/ 2 guys and 3-5' rollers, but a great night.
  8. We run a Depth Raider and Love It. I generally like a little more speed to keep the greasers away. We like to run 2.4 to 2.9 at the ball using 14 pound balls. Don't be afraid to go a bit faster. Some of our best days in the scum lines we run 3.1 plus and have some fun with the Kings and Steelies!
  9. We have owned the same ss235 since it was new in 74. It has always been sloppy at low speeds and yes it makes it very difficult to fish in any type of seas. We added 2 36" bags last year which really help keep it straight in rougher water.
  10. Thanks for the info. We just pulled our out of storage. Need a few dry day's to get her washed, waxed and loaded for the season.
  11. What Brand of Auto Pilot do you have on her? I would love to add one to our SS235 to free up a set of hands while fighting/landing fish?
  12. we run them out of the front cleats, about even with the back of the seat. The really help settle the 235 down in any water and help maximize speed.
  13. You will be happy, We fish off our 74 SS235, It's been in my family since new and still runs like a top. We run two downriggers of the back corners out to the sides. I have a short track just up from the rear cleat that holds two berts ratchet holders and a longer track up by the back of the front seat. Here we have our Berts Tree's that rotate "worth the dough" and another berts ratchet holder. We also run two berts ratchet holder spaced out accross the back that I run high lines on, especially nice in the fall up close running short stuff. So far this has worked very well for us over the past few years. One much used addition is a 36" bag, this really settles the boat down in rough water and allows us to get the right speed. Oh, tacke the rear jump seats out, this makes life much nicer! There is another SS235 that runs out of Grand Haven that has a very nice radar arch and raised canvas. That is another very nice way to go. Our is equipped with the Merc 188 (Ford 302) we can fish on pennies each trip. Good Luck, post some pic's when you get her all equipped.
