  1. The GPS will tell you the speed over ground. If your fish finder is equipped with a speed wheel it will tell you the speed across the surface of the water. I rarely look at my fish finder speed. I use the GPS speed over ground and the pull in the diver rods. If my speed over ground is 3.2 and I look back at the diver rods and there not pulling hard thats my indicator I am going with the current. Once you find the direction of the current and the rods are squared off the back start playing with the speed untill you get bit then go with it. Many people think that you can go too fast....I always think we are not going fast enought.....imo
  2. Not a problem, its always handy to bounce ideas off people. Always willing to help fellow fisherman out. Sorry I do not know how to TIG.
  3. That's great news!!!
  4. Nice looking rig Jeff. I love the Sea Rays
  5. I will only circle on fish if they are only hitting in that zone. If I am marking fish and nothing is happening I will change my speed and directions. When in doubt gas it:) I have picked off many fish over the years bumping the speed up if nothing was taking.

  14. The day started pretty terrible and did not get a hit for the first few hours and loosing one board. We talked to about 5 other fisherman in the area and everyone seemed to be scattered and hunting as well. We picked up a laker and a few small kings and decided mid day to tool up for some steelies. We got a nice one in the boat and had a few more on for a couple seconds with no success. We then hooked a nice big king on the full core and lost it at the back of the boat in the death roll. We then proceeded to break a rod, run over alot of tackle and get the 7 color and board wrapped on one of the props and rudder. We then ran into the beach on the other motor and sent J1Musser diving under the boat to pull what was left out of the prop and rudder. Lures the worked: Silver Streak Purple Glo Tiger, Blueberry muffin, Steelie Stopmer. We ended the day: - 1 Laker - 1 Steelhead - 3 Kings - 2 Lost planer boards(1 was returned to me by Gary of Miss Vicki Charters!) - 1 broke rod
