Rogers City 8-27, 8-28
Indybleck replied to Indybleck's topic in Michigan Waters Fishing Reports - Salmon and Trout
Yeah thanks  -
Went to Rogers City for the weekend for the first time. Thats a nice place to fish, we had a lot of marks and tons of bait. We ended up with one small king and a decent laker. We had one good rip Saturday night on 7 colors of lead that broke the leader. Friday night and Saturday morning we fished toward Hammond Bay just north of 40 mile point light in 40-60 fow and thats where we caught the king and the laker. The king hit a bloody nose spoon on 6 colors of lead right at dark. The laker hit a blue dolphin spoon saturday morning down 49 ft. The rip we missed on saturday night was on 7 colors of lead and we were in front of the Calcite plant in 45 fow it broke the leader and I almost lost my in line but we found it just before dark it hit a #4 J Plug fire tiger that plug had to be 20 years old and that fish hit it like freight train and was gone. Would defintely give it another try sometime. First king and laker in 20 years, forgot how much fun they are to catch and how good they taste on the grill. Tom

Well I went over to give it a try and we ended up with one release and no fish. It was rough yesterday and this morning. We tried everything I had in my box and just couldn't connect. Didn't mark a lot of fish. We didn't see a net go in the water yesterday evening and we only saw netted this morning. We tried from the bath house to the stick. I'll say this it wasn't for lack of effort, everyone is saying the water is to warm yet. Thanks for all the help and I'll try it again in the future. Tom

Good job on the repair, what did it take four bolts and loosen the clamp on the bellows. Sometimes its easy to get intimadated, just take your time, look it over and see if you want to attempt it. That will save you some money right there. :thumb: Tom

Thanks for the info, I had a thread in the Salmon Pro section about where to get the stuff I need and had a lot of great responses. Tom

I've done it on my other boat I had but it was a V-8 and it wasn't much of a problem. Get a gasket scrapper and you'll be good to go.

Thanks for all the replies, now I hope the weather works out for us. Tom

Ok I'm heading over to Ludington for the first time in 20 years and I have a question. Where do you get the cut bait for the meat rigs? I know things have changed since I've been last and this is one of them. We are heading over saturday to fish on sunday weather depending. Can you guys refresh me on some of the more popular rigs and bait shops in Ludington. I have some J-Plugs and spoons and a couple of flies (I know I need a few more) and some flashers thanks to Jason Wheeler. Thanks for all your help. Tom

Good job Frank, glad to see someone is picking up some fish. Tom -
I have a Humminbird 917c combo with the 7" screen, no problems with the unit. I like the big display and it fires up quick and locks on to satelites fast. Mine has the external antenna and thats the only way to go. Tom

It was different thats for sure Jason.

Went out Friday evening with my brother in law from Indiana, first time he's seen the big water. Wasn't expecting much, left Tawas launch around 4:30 pm headed to Alabaster. Started fishing in 60 fow picked up his first walleye around 5:30. Stayed in the area and worked the school. We ended up with 5 keepers and lost 4 in three hours of fishing. Had two doubles on in row. It was a hoot and I'm glad we got into some fish. We were fishing 6 miles from the launch in 60-65 fow. Two ounce bouncers 90 ft back. Blue and pink, purple and pink were the hot colors. Went back out Saturday same spot, one cat, and something that broke my line. I heard in closer to the crib was the place to be Saturday. Might try again this weekend have to see what the weather holds. Frank sorry I didn't get hold of you this weekend, but I'll call you later tonight. Tom

Summer Heat - Walleye Cooler!!
Indybleck replied to Singing Bridge's topic in Saginaw Bay Fishing Reports - Walleye
Good job on the fish, we tried out in deeper water, out by Alabaster and we ended up with two. They were nicer fish but real slow. We tried from 50-60 fow. Purple and rainbow beads and blades on two ounce in lines weights 80 ft back. Tom -
Tried AuGres 7-3 fished for a whole hour before my youngest son told me he didn't feel good, then a wave crashed one to the big boards and flipped it over. That was enough for us and off to H&H for breakfast. No fish and the boy was fine once he got the breakfast buffet. It was rough on Saturday. Fished out by spark plug yesterday with my brother in law and the weather was a little better we ended up with 4 one throw back a cat and a sheep. Nothing special and it was slow for sure but at least the wind died down and it was little nicer to fish and we got some fish. We were north east of the plug about 2 miles in 18-22 fow, purple and copper and happy hooker worked better for us. Tried spoons and hot n tots with nothing to show for it. Maybe try next weekend if the weather cooperates. Tom

Thats a bad deal Frank, its too bad you can't even mention something or get your net in the water and before you know it even one and their brother is fishing right next to you. Jason had it happen to him last summer, fishing all by himself and a baot almost runs him over and sits down right next to him and starts fishing. You work hard to find your little hot spots and then every boat on the bay wants to take advantage of you. I don't blame you one bit. Tom
