    White Lake and they said that it's almost impossible to keep track of them. Not sure what to this matter and I know that many fisherman who fish the big lake would agree that something needs to be done. They need to get the GPS coordinates on line, at least some kind of a approximate area, maybe we should get a poll going, or a meeting.

    Nets around Whitehall The reason why I am interested in getting something started here is to obtain some information as to why the nets around the Whitehall area on Lake Michigan are not listed anywhere online, or between Muskegon as well. Apparently the nets are not marked by any GPS coordinates. Part of the reason why I am interested in obtaining this data, is for safety, and to help prevent losing fishing tackle. I am new to the WhiteHall area, my brother and I have a passion for fishing in the big lake too! There have been too many stories and accidents that have occurred because of them as well. It may be very beneficial to have the nets listed on the website.

    Port Sheldon Parking lot fee Does anyone know who may fish at the Pigeon Lake- Port Sheldon, and if a person is to meet some other fishing buddies for a trip out on the Big Lake, at the launch. I just want to follow the rules. Doest the DNR charge a fee for just parking your car in the lot. Where do I find out the information.

    OK guys, I do appreciate the input, and yeah well it is the end of the season, but I know for sure that it'll be the same deal next year. I'd like to propose to get charter captains, etc., involved so that if we can get a thread going on keeping the GPS way points up to date that would be great. The fish mart used to get them up on line. It's just a matter of saving us all tackle and potential future trouble even as a boater.

    Looking to mark the tribal nets South of Whitehall to Grand Haven I really would appreciate that some one there out fishing the big lake could share any updates as to the quantity of "trap nets" and the respective GPS coordinates that would be listed for them from Whitehall - South down to Grand Haven. I am sure that we all should be aware of them as they can be a hazard. Upon doing some investigating & web surfing there apparently are no current posting for all the nets that are out there. Would appreciate any feed back regarding the post

    This is also available thru Dan Okeefe Salmon Ambassadors Chinook Angler Data Project This project asks anglers to provide information that will improve understanding of how natural reproduction and stocking affect Chinook salmon fisheries. In addition to providing data, participants will help answer specific questions of local interest in years to come. Mass marking efforts led by USFWS enabled the marking of all hatchery-reared Chinook salmon stocked into Lake Michigan and Lake Huron beginning in 2011. This means that stocked age 3 fish caught in 2013 will not necessarily be marked with an adipose fin clip (AD clip) and coded wire tag (CWT). During the 2013 pilot season we hope to use your feedback on data collection procedures to develop a much larger volunteer base for the 2014 season, when the vast majority of stocked Chinook salmon will be marked.     OK thanks for that report sounds like the Spring Kings were there and maybe a bit to the North. Perhaps even a bit more of a spoon bite that anything else. We fished it last up Port Sheldon in 90 -100 fow and meat was key with kings ranging around the 18 lb. mark for a heavy box too.

    Hey Dr Hook, I wish that my plans did not change ,but had to miss out. I did see a lot of boats head out in the am thanks to morning weather on news ch 3. However, do you think that the other boats did about the same, and some extra info on the winning boxes - which were how big?

    Great post on the item in question. However remember that a Dipsey is made by Luhr Jensen & there are a lot of great "divers" on the market. Too many fisherman classify the product as just that being a generic name. Several manufactures have provided the fishing industry with many different color schemes to go by. You just have to do some leg work with that. Some have better releases than others and are far more adjustable. I have heard from some charter pros that color can make a difference. The diver can help produce a hit or two during the course of an outing. I wont be name specific in regards to the divers, but sometimes it is better to buy a product not made over seas.

    I had posed a similar question awhile back on GLF, and got no response back. According to the Fish Dock web site there no listings posted for the year. It used to be that the nets ran from the 03's to the 12's or so with even a few North of Muskegon. Seems strange that no out there has put them on the web for all to take note of. It sure would be a great benefit.

    Well Mr grandhaven fisherman, I know your saying & I feel your pain, 'cuz two years ago up in Manistee we did a similar thing & lost a full copper set up on a new Shimano Talora rod in 60 fow. Until it might ever wash up on shore it's a gonner for sure

    The only thing that I can tell you is that there were plans originally instituted by the City of GH, with he GH Steelheaders, & the engineering firm involved more than several years ago. What I had heard last year was that still was a lot of red tape involved, with nothing finalized. The City of GH Planning Department might be able to give you a better insight to the scenario. You could then post your info on this thread.
