  1. I spent some time talking with Randy when we picked up Jon's motor. This guy is the brightest/smartest engine machinist I have ever met. If you have work done by him, it will be at %100 of avoidable quality.
  2. Knowing exactly where the divers are running is really only important if your targeting the bottom. Salmon will swim up a long ways to hit, or see a bait. I have watched them on the graph rise 30-50' to check out a rigger bait. The TD device is a good idea, and will confirm what they are running at. Often when we are done fishing for the day, we will troll toward the peer, and watch when the divers hit the bottom. Often I will say to my son " that one will stat hitting soon", and sure enough it dose. The 1/2, is very close for a mag diver (set at 1.5), and 1/3 is very close for a regular diver (set at 2.5)
  3. Welcome aboard Steve.
  4. Really great stuff, also check out the The Aurora Borealis to the North.
  5. Jim, Welcome to the site. Take a monument and fill out your Profile location, that will help to answer questions for you area.
  6. Yes Jon that is true. Always run the deepest set to the inside then work shallower out from there. It's not good to mix and match copper and core when they are hodge podge though. For example; Do not try running a 150' 32# (aprox. 30' down) copper on the outside of a full core (aprox. 40' down). The faster sink rate of the copper will catch the core when returning it to it's spot.
  7. Floyds Electric service in Grand Rapids is the place to go for your alternator. 616-534-8691 very reliable. Close to 131 an 54th st.
  8. This is so true. Captain Don Alofs once told me don't take off your hot lures when the bite dies down. He said you always want your best stuff down when the bite returns. That being said, I always get a small high when buying new tackle.
  9. #1 setting will hit close to 2-1 ratio # 3 setting will hit close to 3-1 ratio
  10. Unless it was early spring, and my divers where not going my 6 rod spread would be; 2 Riggers 2 Divers 2 Long lines If your copper is running 50-60' than a 40-50' setup (full core) outside of that would work nice. Then my program would be; 2 Riggers 2 Coppers 2 Full cores, or 200' coppers.
  11. Here is a shot from inside the Dirty Dog.
  12. Great video. Is that from a Go-pro?
  13. The ramp is located at the end of N Scenic drive. You may have to to zoom in on Google map to get a better pic.
  14. That rules the Dog out!
  15. Get 2 and get ready for some fun.
  16. There is a township ramp 3 miles north of Duck lake that will work for you Steve (into White Lake). There is no way to get your boat out of the small stream coming out of Duck Lake. The area in front of Duck Lake is good fishing for Salmon.
  17. Welcome to the site Jon.
  18. Great boat, and picture.
  19. This will make you even more crazy. 333TV
  20. Great stuff there. Thanks for sharing.
  21. Great Question buster. On our big paddles (11") the fly is always wrap forward, or small way. 8" flashers, I have the fly the big way (Wrap toward the hook). My 8" flashers will normally have a 21-26" leader, and the 11" paddles have a 36+ leader.
  22. Great looking rig there Chris. Welcome aboard.
  23. Alan, Welcome to the site.
  24. Great stuff there Orval.
