  1. Thanks for sharing this Bill.
  2. The cost difference between the baker line, and new wire is not worth it. 1000' of wire is the way to go. I have 4 wire rods, all with 7 strand Blood Run. They all started with 1000' and are down to less than that for one reason or another (mainly resetting spinnies in a hurry with rough seas). You will get tangles, broken strands, or cut offs. When wou loose 200' of wire and only have 500' to start with, it is not a good feeling. I have been using wire now for 6 years, and love it. I had troubles with the original 19 strand with it breaking a strand and wadding up around the rod tip.
  3. Great stuff Kyle. Thanks for sharing.
  4. Cool stuff there JB. I like the Rocky mountain shower.
  5. Brian, I have the same reels on my high/outside wire divers. They work good, but it is a must to get new drags, and power handles for them. The new drags and handles can be gotten from Tuna Tom in Ludington. His online store
  6. Dennis, we always enjoy your reports. It's to bad Beth could not hook up good on her birthday. For those that have never seen Dennis and Beth's boat, here it is.
  7. I don't keep tract of the final numbers, but this year was by far the most productive year yet. We had at least 6 trips with 15 fish, and many others close to that. No fish this year much bigger that 16# for us, but my son was able to get some 20+ while mating. It will be interesting to see what next year brings.
  8. I got this Email from the Michigan DNR today. Angler Catches 58-Pound Great Lakes Muskellunge in Antrim County, Breaks State Record A new state record was recently confirmed by the DNR! The new record comes courtesy of a Great Lakes muskellunge caught on Saturday, October 13 at 10:30 a.m. by Joseph Seeberger on Lake Bellaire in Antrim County. The fish weighed 58 pounds, measured 59 inches long and had a girth of 29 inches. Seeberger, of Portage, was actually bass fishing with a minnow at the time when he caught the fish. It took nearly two hours to land and required the help of two friends. The record was verified by Patrick Hanchin, a DNR fisheries biologist at the Charlevoix Fisheries Research Station and Conservation Officer Steve Speigl. The previous state record Great Lakes muskellunge was caught by Kyle Anderson of Rapid City on Torch Lake in Antrim County on September 27, 2009. That fish weighed 50.5 pounds and measured 56.13 inches. State records are recognized by weight only. To qualify for a state record, fish must exceed the current listed state record weight and identification must be verified by a DNR fisheries biologist. For more information on state records in Michigan, visit www.michigan.gov/fishing. Joseph Seeberger (center), his fishing companions and the state record Great Lakes muskellunge.
  9. Very cool Ed. All with a phone camera?
  10. Congrats Aaron. Best wishes to you, and your family.
  11. Call Niel at tre Walker service center. 269-673-7442
  12. Every boat should have two batteries in it. Most of the time the riggers are not drawing anything, and the nav light go off when the sun is up. If they end up trolling with the big motor, they may want to get some Trolling Bags. That will allow them to bump the rpms a tad.
  13. Mine where not an upgraded motor. I bought them new from Niel a few years back. They are the tournament series, with auto stop. I traded in my gray/tan ones through a special they had going.
  14. They all have there "known issues" , and good luck getting them to help you. I was considering replacing my 2002 Duramax. I went to Crags List to get an idea what it was worth. I found one just like it, with simmular millage, and a list of all the repairs he had done. The list was a mirror image of what I have done to mine. He stated, "that took care of all the known issues" Now I am keeping the truck, because all of my "known Issues" are repaired.
  15. Wait till the end of November when the water condenses, and evaporates more yet.
  16. You really have that video editing down pat. Thanks for sharing.
  17. I looked at them last night, and the weight I was pulling up from 140' was a 15# er. That's when they overheated, but I still have the original 14 gage wire, and it goes to the other side of the Stern to a fuse block (witch goes through the battery switch). This winter I'm going to convert them to the 12 gage wire, and hook it to the battery under it.
