After freezing my a$$ off today and wondering, what am I doing here when every one is headed South.
The best I could come up with was, to build a fire in the wood stove, get some Corona, and dream.
For all you guys that don't have one.
Happy Spring Break all.
Welcome aboard Ron. Take unreel up on his offer. Those guys really know what there doing. There are a lot of days that a 17" boat will do what you need. Like Mike said, the Salmon fishing really picks up in the Southern half of Lake Michigan in the spring. Good Luck. Post your results, even when there not good. Ken.
I was in the same boat (pun intended) when I first got holders. I opted for the Tight Lock. They did strip pulling divers. I took, drilled a hole through them, taped them out with a 1/4 20 tap, and threaded a screw through them. I now use them for the Core Rods.
Jim, maby I got a deal on mine. They where $50 at MC sports. It looks like yours use a ball mount on them? The old ball mount ones I have on my Walleye boat tend to slip if something big is on. Is that a issue with yours? Not knocking what you have, just curious.
That's a great idea Frank. Not knowing what we where doing the one and only time we fished the bay, we ran tot's a harness's in the same spread at 2.0. Too fast for one and too slow for the other.
Here's a question for all you guys running Floro leaders; How are you making your connection from main line to leader? A simple swivel, or are you knotting it?
Don, it was nice talking to you at the Grand Rapids show this year. I look forward to using the Silver Streak spoons I got from you. I hope Holland is as good as Saugatuck was for you.
I'm with Frank here, and leave them as they are. Keetings Book, "Keeting on Kings" says to add as little as possible to the front of the lure. He uses only 30 pound swivels to eliminate weight.
John, do you have a snap cover for the open front? If not it would be wise to get one. Open bow boats will take waves over the front when weather kicks up. A cover will divert the water off. Weather can come up in a hurry. Ken.
Like Tom said. 2 riggers off the side or back corners. Take a six foot piece of mono and tie a swivel on each end, clip it to your line with a smaller spoon on it , and let it go. 2 divers (dipsey) one on each side, use a fly and flasher 5'-7' behind the diver. Then the cores go out on in line boards. Use the Church Walleye brand boards (other boards don't seam to run as good pulling core) You need to let the core out far enough to clear the diver poles ( 75-100' min) You also need a big net with a long handle. What part of Grand Rapids do you live in?
Made me Laugh Terry.
I'm still debating whether to but two new riggers. The old Walkers are kinda slow.
I did add 12 new flys and flashers from Siggs Riggs though.
