  1. Sweet! I hope you get all of them. Is it open hunting on them?
  2. Nice job Terry. The Gills where a bit fussy this am over here also.
  3. Robert, you may want to explain what a "Reel Crazy contest" is for those that don't know.
  4. Went out again this morning and got a few more:D
  5. I want to here more;) Is the bay freezing up yet?
  6. With the middle of our lake still open water yesterday, I thought the ice would never come. well, that filled in last night and reinforced the shore ice. With 2-3" of solid ice near shore, I ventured out this afternoon. Between neighbor John and myself, we ended with two limits of nice enough gills. Biggest was 8.5", with plenty of his younger cousins. Fiska jigs with spikes and mousies.
  7. Good luck with your tournament Robert. I wish I lived closer.
  8. I snagged this picture from somewhere.
  9. I was with a guy at Muskegon lake quite a few years back that pulled the axle off his trailer from that. That's quite the wrecker there. How did you get out with the boat on?
  10. I think there the same as Magda or Pro. If your going to get a few combos. Step up to at least the convectors. This rod, with this reel would make a very nice combo. For $83 + shipping it's a great price. I have both these rods and reels, and they work very well.
  11. I'm jealous, we still don't have ice.
  12. Jon, you may want to strip 100-150' of copper off one of those reels. Most of the time the fish will not be 80+ feet down. A 450, and a 300, may be a better option. Here's a depth chart Diver Dennis put together for 30 and 45 pound copper.
  13. I don't know the answer to that Don. I always felt the core did more of the swimming, and the copper was more for deep fish. Personally, I run Plugs and Spoons on my core/copper rigs. Great site Richard. That should help a lot of members.
  14. Good idea. Take the penn 209's and put 2 color on them, and use them as a 2 color or SWR (2 color ran of the low rigger).
  15. I'm not saying it's wrong, rather what's the advantage? I fully understand segmenting core, but copper is so heavy that wouldn't hang to well from rod to board. Only running the board out 75' would put it in the same zone as your diver. Copper and divers make a mess when they get together:eek: I've segmented some of my core setups for this reason. Also it's a great way to use up broken core.
  16. Why add 75' more of line to reel in? I'm sure it catches fish, but would it catch more fish than a regular 300' rig?
  17. Good luck Robert. Sounds like fun.
  18. Any padded case will work as insulation, but if the object your carrying doesn't produce heat, than there's nothing to insulate. Like said above, bring the camera in and let it acclimate to the temp.
  19. Andy, i really like a single Mousse. The grub you put on the hook, the more buoyant it becomes. Light line, small jigs, and small grubs= nice fish. The thing I like with Mousse's is, they have that tail, giving you that extra dimension. I can get 3-5 fish from one grub also.
  20. That's great Adam, I bet fun was had by all.
  21. $1,300/5= $260 per year. At $$260 a year the cost isn't much. I know a guide that couldn't pass the exam any more. The reality is, he shouldn't be guiding in his condition. It's for the safety of the general public.
  22. Used to prevent flare. Fits on the end of you lens. Most higher end lenses come with them.
  23. Yea, what he said^. A polarizing filter will get rid of the glare. Most good lenses hav UV coating already on them. A UV filter will protect the front element.
