  1. My boat I'm the boss now! Sit in that seat and fish prime time. That's what you needed to say. I bet you still had fun though.
  2. That's great Jim. There is a ton of bait and fish to the North. We fishes from the West buoy of the first net to the North, staying inside the East buoy of all the other nets to the North(85-95 fow). Flashers/flys on the bottom.
  3. The totals for the year are getting up there Jim. Nice job.
  4. We both dumped down on the fish, that's for sure. That off shore ripping current tangled both of my port divers in the dark Really sucks loosing a Takota setup. Nice big fish there Nick.
  5. Went out Friday night with Jacob, Doug, and myself. We fished North of the first net and stayed inside of the others (North of port). We stayed in 85-95 fow, running mostly flasher/fly combos on the bottom. Finished the night 5 for 8? one of witch was a laker. We marked loads of bait up high, but kept the program tight to the bottom. Saturday Am we headed out at 5 am to the same area. We started with 4 divers, and 2 riggers, all with flasher/fly sets. Fish started popping early, and stayed at a nice pace through the day. Same program of targeting the lower 15 feet. Ended the morning with 8 and loosing 2 more. All kings. The Siggs Riggs Mountain Dew Pulse Fly behind a Stinger Pro Trol Mountain Dew or the White Green Holo flasher took most of the fish. (we had 4 of them down) White paddle/ fly on the low diver also shined. Brian with one of his kings The teem. The flasher This combo of Flasher Fly has been by far our top producer this year. It works in the predawn, as well as all day. .
  6. Put the boat at 2.6 and forget about the down speed
  7. Thanks for sharing. Very cool.
  8. Welcome back Terry. Good solid advice abounds here for you disposal.
  9. I run a High and Low diver at the same time. The low diver is set at 1, and the high diver is set at 2.5. The low diver's are Walker 124 (there big one), and the high diver's are Lure Jenson divers with mag rings. Both rods are wire. High diver rods are 10', and low's are 8'. The only time I've tangled them was on a turn in high seas.
  10. I love the bent rod shots. Nice looking water. Great looking fish John! Thanks for sharing.
  11. Killing flies, and catching fish. Sounds like a great night.
  12. Like you Jim, as stated, we normally troll into the current. The question is; was our hookup ratio so low because we where going with the current? A very good fishing friend suspected that was the case when I told him at the dock what happened. I should note that, all the fish that got off acted like Kings. .
  13. Well put Timmy. Congrats to you and the Double Down team on the second place finish.
  14. We Stayed at, and fished Holland this past weekend. We did not fish the Big Red, rather just for fun. When we fished Friday Pm it was obvious the current was coming from the South (rather typical for that area). Saturday we left the peer heads in the dark an ran North intending to troll South. When we shut down in 80 fow there was a rather stiff SE. wind. So rather than bouncing and beating ourselves up, we just trolled North. We where soon into fish, but they kept coming off (total of 15 hits, 12 hookups, 1 break off, and 5 landed fish). When all the big boats came out of the harbor, they set up near us, but trolled South (into the current). Now, do you thing our hookup to land ratio was from the fish slapping at the lure backward? Or was it just bad luck. Normally we land %80-%90 of the hookups we get (we also normally troll into the current). All my hooks have been sharpened. The coppers with both spoons, and plugs lost the most fish.
