  1. This is the current release I use. The coated cable runs through the release, and has a tag end about 4". The wire on the probe, and cable have barrel connectors on them. %100 positive connection. Works very good. I don't fish much over 100 feet down, but there is no reason it won't work.
  2. Last year I ran 2 gallons of antifreeze through the above mentioned method. I also opened the petcocks afterwords. One side was mostly water, the other was a mix. There is no reason to leave the antifreeze in there.
  3. This is what I did with mine. I have since modified the coated wire from the rigger with a barrel connector to make it more positive. The wire i used was from a bottom bouncer, and epoxied in.
  4. What they told me was; the Kings get a blast of air from a needle to shoot the eggs out, and the Coho get opened up, checked, and striped. then off to the pet food makers.
  5. Really great shots of the boys Adam. It's great you and your dad got them out.
  6. Work brought me up to Benzie county last week, and I had the opportunity to stop by both the Platte and Manistee weirs. The Platte river is where they collect all the eggs from the Coho. The fish where in heavy, and filling up there holding tanks. Egg striping was going to begin sometime this week. The Platte is where they hatch and raise them also. We stopped at the Weir on the Manistee also. They had just opened the gate to let the fish into the raceways/ponds. They where coming in two and three at a time. They planed to take the eggs here around Oct. 5. They told me that these two weirs account for %100 of the eggs taken for Michigan. They also sell them to Wisconsin, and Illinois.
  7. Glad you finely made it Grant. Sounds like a great trip.
  8. My friend Jim was out in the same water this morning with near identical results, including the big laker. Sounds like some good water out deep. Nice job Terry, Rodger, and crew.
  9. Welcome Trent. It sounds like you have a big job in front of you. Would Ebay work for this?
  10. Wire not braid. The pole should be a roller rod, but a normal pole with a twilie tip will work. This site may help.
  11. I was thinking about it, but waves at 3-5 and rain is too much like last weekend in Muskegon. No fun!
  12. Just a few quick tips. Leader line behind the diver should be as long as you can handle (6-8'). A South troll will normally be your best troll. Speed on your gps around 2.6 +- .2. Mag divers off the back will run about %50 of line out. These should be your deepest sets. Only flys behind flashers. I think some of the guys are going to fish out of Holland Saturday am. Meet up with them after or fish with them, and they can show you there setups. See this tread. Welcome aboard.
  13. I got one from the BFK raffle. I used it that night, and it came uncliped and drifted away within 5 minutes of use. Some may say "replace the clips with ....). My felling is, if I spend the money to buy a board, than I don't want to replace the release. Put a good release on there to begin with. It wasn't in the water long enough (or hooked to the line long enough) to find out how well it ran.
  14. If you want spawn, then hang out at the DNR fish cleaning station in Holland. You will be able to get plenty.
