  1. Welcome Ron. Post up some pics of the boat. What area do you fish out of?
  2. A lot of Great Lakes guys will run 7 strand wire on there low (inside) divers, and Braid on the out divers. We run wire on all 4 of our divers. I like wire a lot. It resist the sea fleas much better than braid and gets deeper.
  3. Ryan is my cousin, and fishes with me often. He was my main partner for the WMFL. He took a job in Kenosha Wi., and hopes to fish that area next year. Pm mike ( GLF ) he can help with the password change.
  4. Yes. We also like Ice fishing pictures.

And on the wire diver to boot. Thanks for sharing.
  6. This really doesn't come into play much in a typical summer. The only time I have ever seen water that cold in our area, we where pulling fish in 45 fow from top to bottom. I do remember looking at the surface lake temps last year and thinking Wow! look how cold there water is. A 1/2 core on a board in that situation is deadly. Jim was getting a bunch of fish on short cores last year on your side. Have you used this site for surface temps yet?
  7. Like jim said, on this side of the lake there was warm temps top to bottom last year. After the dawn bite was over all the fish dropped down and sat on the bottom. We caught a bunch of fish last year in 72 deg water that where laying on the bottom. A flasher/fly combo got most of those fish. A ff will pull big fish (in warm water) off the bottom. Last year was not the norm. You had very cold water, and we had very warm water. Just because the water is not in there preferred temp zone doesn't mean they all leave. Mid summer Salmon will stage out side the harbors within a few miles regardless of temp. You where targeting 40' last year, but you could of targeted 20' and still got fish. Hitting the exact temp is nowhere near as important as having a properly presented spread. Do you have Dan Keatins book "Keating on Kings"? Dans book is a great read for those fishing the West side of Lake Michigan.
  8. Sound like a great day Captain Tim.
  9. Yea that^^^
  10. Yes welcome. We look forward to your reports.
  11. On our side of the pond we/I like to run a straight line troll. If the fish are snapping in 90 fow going south, than we keep going in that water. Some times rater than turning the troll around, we will pull every thing in and go back to start over. Phil, are you aware of the current direction for you area? Generally the best troll is into the current.
  12. Very nice Rodger.
  13. Wow, what a great day to be on the lake. Thanks for sharing.
  14. If, or when she changes her mind, do you and her a big favor and get the 32# supper copper from Blood Run. 300' of it will take up about the same space (it is a bit thicker) as a full core. It will hit a depth of 60' rather than the 40' the same amount of core is getting. Rather than buying more poles, just buy the reel, and swap them to the core poles. Once you get your 4 diver program figured out, you will be ok.
  15. Great looking Lakes Mark. Thanks for sharing.
  16. Mid day fish do tend to like the core/copper lines better. You may be better suited to add 2 more of them to the spread. Although we did very well on the flasher/fly combos mid day. Here are a few combos that really worked well for us this year All came from Siggs Riggs. 8" White Green Holo, and Super lime glow pulse fly 8" Mountain dew with Mountain Dew pulse fly. 8" wonder bread glow with Blue Dolphin pulse fly
  17. A big reason I like my set up is; My low divers go out at a 1/2 ratio (2' out=1' down) and the high divers have a 1/3 ratio (very easy to know where there running) You had a bunch of cold water last year, so maybe the spoons where a better choice? On our side of the pond they where crushing the spinnies last year. A lot of guys will run spinnies on the low divers to bring fish into the spread. Good luck next year, there's a bunch of good guys here that are willing to share.
  18. Two or three colors of lead core can be run off boards when the fish are near the top. SWR = Two or three colors of lead core ran off a rigger.
  19. If it is strong and working than go with it. I had some wire get old and brittle. When you loose a few diver/snubber/flasher/fly sets it gets costly
  20. Thanks for the update Ron. Nice job out there.
  21. Welcome to the site Phil. Where are you fishing out of? Use mag divers on you inside divers set to 1 or 1.5. I like mags for the out divers also. Where you running both sets way back? The further a dive set at 3 goes back the less it will go out. We ran our divers last year both in the same zone quite often. The inside one's where 124 walkers set at 1.5, and the out's where LJ dipseys with mag rings set at 2.5. The only time they tangled was when we had high seas and currents trying to turn. If you want to get more mid summer fish, run flasher/fly on your inside divers.
  22. All the fishing is great right now. Even the Walleyes are starting to snap.
  23. W.A.H. gang it was nice meeting you guys this year. You had a great year.
