Update the drags, and get two high/outside divers to go with them. I have more action on my divers when there is two out each side.

I was thinking the same thing Jim.

The best deal out there is 20# Andy in the bulk. The last time I bought it, I got it from Boaters world. Try Googling it.

Milwaukee plan for lakefront wind turbine stirs debate
Nailer replied to News's topic in Great Lakes News
Now come on guys. They could use the power from the windmills to run the Hi Speed Rail Trains. Of coarse when the wind wasn't blowing, the passengers would have to push. -
copper setups with blood run tackle
Nailer replied to tracker targa's topic in Salmon Pro's Connection
The big spools of Rip Cord are 1000 yards. That's enough for 4 reels at 750'. I bought that same Ripcord last year from the bargain cave. Its nice to have the backer stronger than the copper. -
Add the divers. Divers are HOT! Edit, I should note that all we run off our divers are Flasher/flies.

copper setups with blood run tackle

First off, good choice on the 32#. I have 350' of 32# on penn 330 gti's along with 1000' of 50 pound braid. My 45 convectors have 225', but would hold 250'. I also have 2 Diawa 57lc's that hold 250' With 1000' you could set up 2-300' and 2-200' rigs. This would get you down 60' and 40'. Put a J plug on in mid summer to gain depth. -
Like said before me, big eyelets is the key. Most guys like a shorter rod for copper/cor rods. A shorter rod makes taking the board off easier. 8-8.5' rod in the 10-20 pound line range. If you don't have the copper yet, do yourself and every one that fishes with you a big favor, and get the 32# from Blood Run. It is very user friendly, and has a nice sink rate. Also, Welcome aboard. What area do you fish out of?

I have got all 6 of my copper rigs retied, and reworked. 4 reels rebuilt, 28 flasher/fly retied and cleaned, hooks sharpened, tackle box cleaned and organized. I'm sick of winter. Looking through a 6" hole to catch a 8" fish is not the same as Happy Hour out on the big pond.

Some guys fish areas that have more small fish. Like you said about the line bouncing and not releasing. If you didn't see the rod jump, that that fish will drag behind the rigger till pulled. Back in the day when we fished the Detour Channel we would have a bunch of Pinks mixed in with the Kings. One morning we where not getting any hits. When we pulled our line, we had pinks on every one of them. This was back when every one used pincher pads. I use the Blacks set tight also, but here in West Michigan we have mostly big fish.

Aaron what is the amp draw for the units you want to run? A 105 Ah battery can sustain a 10-Amp draw for 10.5 hours before reaching 100% dead. A 115 Ah battery can sustain a 10-Amp draw for 11.5 hours before reaching 100% dead. The more Ah the longer it will last. This site may explain it better.

Thanks for the update Rod.

If you plan to only catch big fish, stay with the blacks. Chamberlins are nice for shakers and lake Trout.
-
Click here for Albright Knot. The Haywire is simply a twist around itself. It's best to use a pole with big guides for copper. I read a piece where the small swivel is actually smaller than an Albright knot.

Better luck next time Ryan.

11" gill, WOW! congrats to you boy. Nice job you two.

EUP Steelhead Report
Nailer replied to steeliebob's topic in Michigan Waters Fishing Reports - Salmon and Trout
Very good Robert. -
That is the one reason I don't like cut bait. Also when you leave the cut bait in the boat for a few days:eek:

My cousin Is looking for a Convector 45 L. The L is the one without the line counter. Although one with a line counter would work. He plans to run a full core off it.
-
Nice sized gills. Makes for a great dinner.
-
Nice shot Matt. Thanks for sharing.

I can't imagine letting a 1# ball out/back/out to the side, with out it tangling with the diver or even the rigger pole. Keep the spread easy, and tangle free.

I think you have to much time on your hands Two more divers is what you need. Keep the back open.
