  1. I miss my 18 right now but will the the 26 out of storage soon. Great Job
  2. Ditto on what Randy said but I am even further away. Who would ever have dreamed a guy could buy as many tools as I have. About 10 years ago my son told me he wanted to be a mechanic I explained he would have to wait till he knew for sure he could beat my @$$ cause I would beat his if he mentioned it again. Only career I know of where you wake up one day to realize you have close to a hundred grand in tools to make the same money as the assistant manager at Burger King. Well I take that back I did also want to be a charter captian and that is about the same nowadays.
  3. Personally skip the LJ dipseys and get the Walker Deeper divers no rings to mess with and much better diver. What most of us do is run sliders on the line what you do is take a leader around 6ft with a snap swivel on each end attach a lure to one end and snap the other end on you fishing line. You can do this as a fixed slider with a rubber band as shown above or you can buy Alberta Clippers which attach to your main line and as mentioned you run your first lure setp down 10 or more ft and clip on the slider then send everything down no you are running 2 baits at differant depths but only using one rod. The other option is a free slider I run these a lot simply because I can add them at will. On a free slider you run the rigger and rod setup down to the depth you want it and just snap on a lure and leader it will follow the line down to roughly halfway to the other lure. The best part is when you get a double as what sometimes happens is you get a hit on the free slider and you have to take up all the line between the free slider and the bottom lure which swims the bottom lure into the fish sometimes causing another fish to hit it. Having 2 angry kings on the same rod is fun and nerve racking at the same time. esp when they go in differant directions.
  4. Hey Troy congrats on the boat will look forward to seeing your reports. As to setup order if you do it right it won't matter and if you do it wrong you'll have a mess to detangle anyhow. First thing to remember is shallow lines can pass over deeper lines but not vise versa. My normal setup order is based on speed of getting everything set so my riggers go down first then I set the divers and get them started out against the drag so they work their way into place. While they are going out I like to start my short core I just send them out the back and clip on the board and once again set the drag so they work out very light drag by now the divers should be close so check them and set them to fish mode. Then run my longer cores out . Try and keep in your mind where each lure is actually running in the spread so you don't have your divers under or outside of you inside board. There is not much worse than getting a fish on the diver tangled in a full core or copper as you can see your wallet shrink when it happens.
  5. Saturday as well who knows maybe Sunday too.
  6. Might want to do a little research on transom replacement it is miserable work but not that hard and cool weather is the best time to do it. Git Rot will help but sooner or later you have to fix the transom any how so might be worth looking into doing it now while you already have the motor out.
  7. I am stoked came home from work today to find a box waiting on me. It was the Silver Horde sponsor package. All I can say is WOW These are really nice packages actually way to nice for what I planned on. Once we get all the sponsor stuff together we will sort it out and see how it best fits. I would love to leave these intact as single prizes and if we get enough stuff to do it and be fair to all involved we will. Actually I was thinking 1 for me 1 for Don and 3 as prizes LOL. But thats not how I work ( damn morals ) so as I have said all along every single sponsor item will go out as a prize in this tournament. So here is the first booty list to go in the prize chest. 5 Silver Horde flasher bags 10 Ac Hi Plugs 10 6in plugs 10 Ace Hi flies 10 4in plugs and a stack of Silver Horde catalogs These are currently packaged as 5 units I listed the contents seperatly in case we have to break them up to make things more even for everyone involved. Our original plan was to have a bunch of smaller lure packages mixed in the payout so that hopefully everyone would win something during the season. Because I have not put any sponsorship requirements on any one and pretty much letting each sponsor determine what they feel they can to help the event. If the rest of our sponsors come thru like this all I can say is WOW. I put some pics of one of the packages on our facebook page. Again guys this is a completely open and honest event as sponsor stuff comes in it will be posted and every thing will be awarded as prizes as much as I want this stuff the only way I get it is to win it just like you guys.
  8. Dates Dates are May 8th May 22nd July 3rd Aug 7th Aug 21st Blow dates will be following day weather permiting www.mscst.com
  9. I use Gamma for years great stuff have also used Seaguar did not like it as well I thought the Gamma tied nicer. But if they do stop making Gamma I would go back to Seaguar. However for my line leader on all my rods and reels it is either big game mono or P Line Flouro clear. Short leaders, flies and Meat rigs I make with Gamma Flouro Leader
  10. Hey Kevin I talked with Bill at Shoreline Services the other day and he mentioned he would be a weigh in for Muskegon. Is this all set then has almost been a couple weeks since any update?

  12. That would explain a few unreturned calls.
  13. Big Jon and Traxtech trees are both fully adjustable so you can rasie and lower the rod holders and rotate them and change the angle at will. There is one I can see a pic of in my head but can't remember who made it. That has 4 rod holders and is track mounted I saw it a while back in a new product review. There are also several places making fixed trees that if you call them they will make them to your specs. I sold mine last season because they were too tall and I needed the money and plan on building a rocket launcher or buying one. http://www.greatlakesplaners.com/tackle-shop.htm make some cool stuff and would likely build you exactly what you need.
  14. Updated the website today fixed a few minor issues and added a pdf entry form. Current vote is to use Dockers for weigh in, still time for you to vote on it. Remember this is a fun event.
  15. Personally I would just add a set of Trees and run my diver rods off the bottom rod holder. A set of 4 rod trees would let you run up to 10 rods with your riggers. Thats a rigger a diver and 3 planer boards per side. It would all mount in one simple location and allow you to clear your gunnels easily. With a little shopping around at the fishing shows you can probably beat your budget doing it as well.
  16. For the Ludington date we are currently planning on fishing the Ludington tourney WHich I beleive is closed communication so would not be able to say hi on the radio but feel free to give out as much info as you can as I can still listen . I have not fished Ludington in many years so may be a expensive field trip for me.
  17. Terry since the Aug 21 date is also a MSCST date I see Don has offered to let us meet at his house but I also have permission from Dockers to use their resturant and bar for our weigh ins. They also offered to provide a buffet for members of our group at a 10 dollar per person cost. I don't know if we want to do that but I am pretty sure we could all hang out there for the afternoon and is a pretty cool setup as you can drive the boat right up to their docks. If all goes well we will be crowning a port champion that day and it could easily turn into a pretty big party. So lets hook em up and have some fun.
  18. I need some input as we have a couple choices as to weigh in location. I have approval to use either one both have plus's to consider. First off Don and I are both planning on launching out of Grand Trunk we will have a breif sign up and meeting for those who want to sign up at the last min or use that launch. I have approval to use the Grand Trunk launch for our weigh in it took a while to get in contact with the right person to set it up as I was going thru Leisure services and they don't take care of that launch. Opps on my part to wait for over 2 weeks for a answer from the wrong department. Second while waiting for a answer from the wrong dept I made several other inquires. So today I got approval from Dockers Fish house to use their docks and do weigh in there. They are very cool about the idea and welcome us to weigh there however they are a little unsure how much dock space they will have for the Jul 3rd event but if they were full we could still weigh at Grand Trunk launch. Dockers is a very nice place to meet after fishing quick and easy to get to by boat. Also they sell food and beer something much in demand after a hard day of fishing. It also fits my approach of supporting Muskegon fishing and what it has to offer. So I am going to try this as a vote let me know which you guys prefer. Don and I are both in agreement we like either one and to us both have plus's and minus's. So think it over and respond to this post with a answer.
  19. A even scarier thought occurred to me a while ago. These guys in Washington really do want to throw away our constitution and start their own country either by bankrupting us as a nation or a cival war. Perhaps they beleive either way it goes there is a chance they can rewrite all the rules. This is the only place left on earth where a poor man can work hard and become rich. Their goal is a model more like europe where you have rich and poor and a very small middle class which are much closer to the poor than the rich. This is a vert elitist group who truely feel there know better than us and why should they not feel this way they have been in charge of educating our children for decades so they really only have a group of people between the ages of 40 and dead that have not been trained in the manner which they want. This started with seriously working on the college kids in the 50's and 60's with all the liberal ideals of how great we could all be if we lived as one. This is another attempt at failed policies we need to get involved with our local schools and see what they are teaching. The goal is to make us seperated because then they can pick us off one at a time. While we have worked hard they have formed thousands of groups each nibbling away at us. Even amongst our groups we see like the windmill issue that we are not a solid voice. If we who beleive we grew up in the greatest country on the planet do not unite and soon shame on us. What will we leave our kids and grandkids nothing but debt and stories about the good old days.
  20. I could point out I knew how to get around the lake long before GPS so I would keep my probe. And I actually bought my probe before my GPS if it were me I would get both the probe and a decent handheld GPS mapping unit for the fog thing. Just me but I get way more use out of my Garmin GPS76 handheld than I will ever get out of the GPS portion of my fishfinder. And no matter how much people tell me where to go I can't get lost with my Garmin in my pocket.
  21. I am begining to think we getting past the letter writing point here. Guys there is months before we can vote any of these jerks out of the Senate and Congress with Obama in charge it could take decades to undo this mess if it can even be undone. Guys they talk about unity but they devide us up into little group and take turns pushing us around much like the British did before the revolutionary war. You see they keep nudgeing us along a very bad path. They smile and lie to us and when that does not work they attack from a differant angle. The America we grew up in is dead and gone our country has been overthrown and not a single shot has been fired. For our children and grandchildren I am sorry and ashamed.

  23. The problem with associations is you actually don't ever own the property it is a single family condo with a yard you have to maintain. It is hard to find housing developments that are not setup as associations. Fantastic deal for the builder not so much for the buyer. We looked at several places the wife really liked but I would not sign the association papers. One we looked at was setup where the builder got 3 votes for each peice he still owned but only had to pay 1 share for each. This way he could sellover 1/2 of the units then vote in the final improvements which would pass the bill on to the other tenants. A friend of ours at the time bought one The builder waited till the last min to vote in new roads curb and gutter manditory concrete drive ways and setup up a 5 year maintaince contract for the roads and drives. The bill our friends got was for 22,000 dollars for their share. They could not come up with the money and lost their house. I had a Jewish doctor in Houston that lived in a Association down there and he told me he hated christmas because the association voted in manditory christmas decorations since he refused to put them up they fine him 2500 per year.
  24. I keep mine loose so don't try this trick with mine you will get a birds nest every time alll reels are well lubed and set loose. As I said I can cast pretty good with my clickers on. I guess I could tighten them up but I am happy with the way they work.
