My Off Shore boards pull a 300 copper pretty good not as good as my Z Boards or my TX 44's but still do a nice job. They are setup like the SST boards the rear clip is moved to the back of the board 3/4 in up from the bottom straight in from the rear not on the side of the board. On my Salmon setups they are set not to release with a OR 16 on the front and a snap swivel on the rear. My Steelhead setups are set to release with a OR 16 on the rear and a OR 19 on the front.

As to the shift module if you called Pertronix for the correct setup they will tell you to add a diode and resister to the return to the coil from the shift module to let it work. http://www.pertronix.com/support/tips/pdf/diodefix.pdf

the Pertronix setup uses adaptive dwell so the first thing you have to do is set the maximum advance because the adaptive dwell will play with it verses the old points. I have seen the conversion add 2 or 3 deg to the timing at high speed. so if you have a old style timing light you have to set your timing at max advance. Usually around 4000 rpm otherwise if you have a timing light with advance built in you need to use the advance to set the timing at idle. On points other than floating and misfiring once they are set all the advance comes from the advance plate and springs and weights. The adaptive dwell will retard the timing at idle making you over advanced at full throttle.

No set number they all know it costs money and there is no way I will ever break even. With my current drive I have 40 bucks in gas just to get the boat to the dock figure 80 to 100 for boat gas then add in lost or broken gear. Insurance boat payments maintenance new lures line and tackle every year. It will spend most of the year sitting on the trailer this year and I am fine with that. most years I avg 40 to 50 trips this year I may do 10.

Carlisle Welding 7625 Division Avenue S Grand Rapids, MI 49548-7223 (616) 281-9696 They do all our Axle and frame welding and can probably fix the axle for less than it would cost to ship a new one. They did a friend of mines with a new spindle bearings and seal for under 100 bucks.

Fantastic day to be on the water unless you wanted to find and catch fish. So far Don and I have been perfect in picking nice days to fish but not as good at inviting the fish to join us. Congrats to Drift for his winning box 119.2 points, Double D took 2nd with 87.15, 7Mary3 came in 3rd with 84.25. Big Fish went to Fine Line with a nice 18.8lb King. Here is the full results.

Actually the opposite is true you want the lowest rpm cruise you can get on plane with. Max Rpm is something you do not want it to be able to go past Max RPM on my motor is 5200 however preferred wide open range is 4200 to 4800 because that is where the torque curve and HP curve meet best. Just like your truck you want to cruise on plane at a low RPM so you prop to max out under 5200 and best trimmed cruise as low as you can get it.
-
So it is a different cup in the prop what did it do to your top speed? It sounds like your motor does not have enough power to go any faster and changing the prop only changes what RPM that is. try this out http://www.go-fast.com/Prop_Slip_Calculator.htm

I may whine now and then but to replace my boat with new all the stuff on it would likely be between 100 and 115 thousand. Just looked a a new Striper 2601 I/O with no AP no electronics or fishing gear 93k. Makes the 20k I have into owning mine 6 years seem cheap.

hopefully boat will actually run long enough to fish this time LOL. On tap for this week is a new Distributor Coil and bilge pump plus new plugs and a rebuild on the old carb. I am putting in a Pertronix billet electronic distributor and coil no more points yeah. Every year I plan on getting a nice new rocket launcher but every year the boat eats the money long before I get the launcher. Ain't boats fun I am really starting to look forward to the second happy day of boat ownership the day I sell it.

You could call Bill at Shoreline services he is the Cannon repair center in Muskegon.

As we approach 16000 spammers and only 90 members the website is closed to new registration. So it is now pretty much a read only site which it remain. If you would like to participate send Don fishsniffer or me a email and we will get you a log in. No one posts on it much but I have kept it up as a place Don and I can share and store event info and such.

I for one would much prefer a boat registration as i seldom fish with the same crew.

As suburbs tap out wells, they thirst for limited Lake Michigan water
1mainiac replied to News's topic in Great Lakes News
make them a deal close the Chicago Canal permanently and force Chicago to build a sanitation system that puts clean water back in the lake and I am OK with selling them water. The problem now is all the water Chicago and those areas use leaves the Great lakes because of the canal. Other than companies bottling and selling water all the water we use stays in the system. Like it has for thousands of years. -
The stuff we use does not break down and would not be black if it did it would be gray. Lots of companies use a foam tape under trim it does what you were describing. Another option would be putty tape. We use a lot of it as well it tends to get chalky with age though. Another option would be to just seal the seam with a good clear silicon.
-
Nick on RV's we use Butyl Tape under trim to seal it and forma gasket. http://www.butyltape.org/heavy-duty-butyl-tape-gray/ chk that out lots of places sell it.

one other thing to consider and that is not every GPS records the same speed I did a test on my boat a couple years ago and ran 2 GPS units My Garmin handheld in a dash mount and My Lowrance 525 they were never even all that close to each other in speed even at trolling speed they were different one would read 2.5 the other would read 2.7. I also found on a trip to NC at Christmas my wife's Tom Tom at highway speeds always read 2mph faster than my el cheapo unit I have on my dash. While I realize you can never believe what Fishsniffer says on the radio during a tournament I have had him pass me when he said he was running the same 2.5 as me.

Muskegon reports?
1mainiac replied to Ravbowhunter's topic in Michigan Waters Fishing Reports - Salmon and Trout
We were 2 for 2 last night however chk our tourney results for the MSCST event. My boat broke down so I did not fish in it. -
I would bet most of those baitfish were trying to avoid being eaten.

Black works fine and I doubt you can over load anything the fish are hitting however you could remove the setup that is bringing them in. More than on I care to count we have pulled a dead rod out of a active spread only to kill the whole spread. As such if the fish are hitting i don't change anything even if it means pulling one dead rod all day. We used to pull cowbells behind a empty cannon ball because fish would come in and look it over then hit one of the other lures.
