Frabill makes a pretty good net, I like their extendable handle it's pretty strong. I need to be able to reach the water, I sit about 3 foot up from the waterline and have to reach past my swim platform.

I voted Stinger, it's the only spoon I run.

Hi all, most of the time I'll see a rod go off before anyone else, and I'm up front driving. When I yell fish on they don't know what rod to grab, unless it's a rainbow then it's pretty obvious.

Hi all, my best rig for walleye is the meatball , it's not a good idea for salmon or trout but puts lots of fish in the box for walleye. Set up is a downrigger with a 5 foot leader tied to the ball, no fishing rod. I run it a lot, and customers love when they bring the downrigger up and theres a walleye hangin on. I know it sounds cruel, but very affective for walleye. I get outstanding results compared to having a rod hooked up to the rigger, no hum, and it produces. Although I have had trout jump right behind the boat and my first thought is there goes another spoon..

Good one! Looks like a great auto pilot!! No wiring needed..

Hi all, my boat don't get launched until May there's still ice out there and we usually don't start any sooner. I've heard the walleye fishing at the lake erie islands is very good right now, and has been awesome. Fish the reefs for the females.

Hi all, after reading all of these posts I'm kinda stuck on a choice to get a refurbished display for my fishhawk (mines dead ) I sent it in to be checked out and the processor is fried, so for me to get a refurbished one the cost is $170 bucks just for the display. Or $300 for a new up to date display, or $500 for a new everything. Anyone want to buy an extra probe for their fishhawk? I guess I need to go check some prices on the ones you guys use and posted about in here, I'm mostly using it for my speed at the ball. -
Nice choice on the rigger, they do look sweet and have everything from a swivle base, auto stop, faster motor.

Hi all, North Coast Charterboat Association is having there annual walleye and steelhead tournament Saturday June 9, 2007. Check in is at Pickle Bills in Fairport Harbor, Ohio. If anyone wants more info let me know. Capt. Ray

Hi all, I know Cabellas had the exclusive for the Okuma Catalina for a long time, but now any tackle dealer can get them. Not sure if Okuma makes the depth master, they have the lower model Magda. If I was gonna buy a line counter I would get an Okuma Catalina combo, or I just saw a Okuma Convector Combo here on this site for a great price, rod and convector for 97 bucks and i'm pretty sure it even had line on it too. Hi all, the dive bomb mike posted is the two ounce, the photos a little larger then the actual bomb. I have a 2oz orange one here and it's actual size from front to back is 2"inches, the width of the bill on front is 5/8"of an inch. The green 3oz is 2 1/8" front to back, width of the bill is 7/8" of an inch. I'll post a picture in a few minutes. Capt. Ray

Hey Capt Crabass, I launch out of Ashtabula, and live in Geneva, Ohio. You fish both Pa and Oh? We'll have to hook up in person or at least keep in touch for the local fishing action. I know some captains and locals that fish out of geneva and ashtabula for some good honest info Capt. Ray

Hi all, I just got a few of the dive bombs yesterday, they do look like they will work. I'm curious to test the depth I can acheive with wire line and a dive bomb. I'm hoping to get it down to around 40 feet with just a bomb and a spoon. If you guys get a chance to run them let me know how it goes. I know you guys will be fishing before my boat gets launched Capt. Ray

This is a pict of the biggest walleye the mary c ii landed last year. It's the one on the far right. I told the guy he had a trophy but we still made filets out of it 31.5" & 11.5 lbs.. Caught it 300 yards offshore of eastlake, ohio in 17 feet of water on a jet diver with a stinger scorpion razberry dolphin. Shu you need to troll that shoreline in late may early june, west of the powerplant. Jets or diving baits with a 3 foot leader. Capt. Ray

I can run 2 lines per man onboard, so if I run a 6 pack and first mate I can legally run 16 lines. We have a 2 rod limit in ohio. The most fish on has been 4 at once. Walleye are usually in schools, so if i mark a good school it's not uncommon to get several hookups. I'm a stinger spoon freak, it's the only spoon you'll find onboard the mary c ii. The colors may vary but the spoon catches fish. Thanks for the comments! Capt. Ray

Hi all, nice looking boats guys! I figured I better show my boat off too. I can't wait to hit the water. She's a Baha Cruisers 280 weekender, rigged with big jon electric mast and two electric captains pack downriggers. I still use the lawrance 350A, gps, fishhawk temp & speed, bertram auto pilot, windlas, 6 Aurora Lites Tackle Rod Holders on each side. It's been a great boat..I fish Lake Erie Central Basin with dipsys, wire, leadcore, and riggers out of Ashtabula, Ohio. Capt. Ray

Great subject, my first boat i named after my dads boat, the red eye. My second boat i named after my wife, and my 3rd boat is the Mary C II. Treat your boat like she's a lady:eek: My screen name, well i didn't think of anything better, and monkeypuke is a great color choice over here in ohio for walleyes. Capt. Ray

Hi all, thanks for the welcome posts. I'm ready for spring too! We just got hammered with this last snow storm, it shut down most of NE Ohio. What a mess. I had 3-4 foot drifts in my driveway today, work called me and told me to stay home ) monkeypuke

Captain Ray here, been fishing Lake Erie forever, well maybe not forever but about 25 years. I run my boat out of Ashtabula, Ohio fishing for walleye, steelhead, and perch. Forum looks great and look forward to being a part of your community here online. monkeypuke http://www.auroralitestackle.com/auroralitesfishingteam.html
