  1. The really sad part about this is that these guys call themselves educated im sure, because they have college degrees. Only proves anyone can pay money to buy a degree but you cant buy common sense.
  2. Fished southhaven thursday evening. started in 88 ft of water around 5.30 pm. trolled out and did not get our first hit untill 6.30. Wire dipsey with Mt.dew spin doctor and green strong fly 145 back in 111' of water. Nice coho around 9 lb. Best coho Ive taken in along time. Marked a school of bait on the bottom at this depth made a second pass and picked up A nice king on wire with a White and green spin doctor and a chartruse gotcha fly 130' back. Had four more rips on both the same wire setups and our Rookie got excited and pulled just a little to hard on the rods and I belive he pulled the hooks right out of there mouths. So we ended up 2 for 6 in a little 3 hour evening trip. Spent 4 days overthere and the fishing Really slowed down. Did not fish for silver fish after thursday evening. spent the next two days chasing perch. We caught alot of perch but they were all in the 4 to six inch range and I wont keep them unless they are atleast 8". so we threw all but 6 of the approx 50 we caught. All that I saw at the cleaning station were also small. Dont know what happened to the jumbos.
  3. My bad . glf pointed out out it was the trim. Sound like a hose or a fitting.
  4. It sounds like to me it is comming out of the engine belive it or not. If you are buring oil when you run your engine the only place it has to go is our the exhaust. It might be so little amount of oil that you wont notice it on the dip stick. Either valve out of adjustment or bad or it could be blowing oil by the rings. Look at your spark plugs and make sure they are not black. if they are then there is where I would start. Oil will build up around the lower unit and pool up in the water and a small amount looks huge when slicked on the water.
  5. looks like the immage of a colonoscipy.
  6. Like that pic of the cooler overflowing with fish. Way to hammer um terry.
  7. Just got back from south haven yesterday. Due to the cold weather the perch had a little set back, So My wife and I ended up going after silver fish. Did not get out thursday or friday due to the wind. Sat morning did not hit the water untill 11.00 am. fished untill 2.30 pm and ended up 7 for 9. All kings released the last one. Full core with a bloodynose silver streak was the hot set up. Dream weaver Dolphin on the rigger was also hot. 62' down 30' behind the ball. Stinger Jawbreaker also took a couple of fish on the full core. Flashers and flys slowed for us but we ran them and took a couple of fish on sunday morning. Sunday we ended up with another limit of kings and a bonus laketrout. Same set up. Good numbers were in 25's to the 27's. best depths were betweeen 87' and 110'. Speed was crutial as if we were not going between 2.8 and 3.0 mph we were not getting hits. All fish were stuffed with alwifes. Largest was in the 15 to 20 lb class. all fish were 10lb plus. My wife has become a great fishing partner. We had two doubles and one tripple. Got bolth the doubles and 2 for 3 on the tripple. No bad for just her and I in the boat. I told her she was finally a fisherwoman.
  8. Are you really at home or at the boat?
  9. Yeh: I thought about it but its a little more difficult to come into allegan with Islander. But I have gone this route before.
  10. Thanks I also go right by there as I take 102 to the bloomingdale road and then cut up 388 to 390 and come in on Phenoix road. I live in Martin.
  11. Ill give it a try. How big do you cut up your pieces? thanks
  12. west main is a long way out of my way. but yeh your right that is another thought. Terry: Do you mean actual cut up pieces of the gobbies you caught?
  13. Thanks Dirty Dog The only other place I know of and I go threw on my way to S.H. is in Grand Junction. I was just wondering if S.H. Had a place you could get them in a pinch if by some chance we hit the mother load. My father Always use to pop the eyes out of the perch he would catch and use them for bait. Thought I might give that a try as he claims the gobies will leave them alone. Anyone else ever tried this?
  14. Its comming up on my annual perch fishing week and we usually buy all of our bait from the Porthole which is now closed:eek:. So my question is where has everone been buying there bait around South Haven? Sorry I see I forgot the r in perch on the subject.
  15. Thanks for the report sea eagle. Did not get out this last weekend as we did a pine river canoe trip but will be over starting thursday night for a 4 day stay.
  16. Im with just enough. Boycott the casinos and save out great lakes.
  17. It depends on what the fish want. Back in june a slower presentation was better so further back, as we were fishing 40' on the inside riggers and 60' on the outside with spoons. When everything started comming on flashsers that tells you the fish like a faster presentation. so in the case of saturday we shortened up our leads to 15' and 20' for spoons and 5' to 8' for flasheres. lead core was slow also so that was another indication. Normal speed it 2.5 to 2.6 shorter leads we speeded up to 2.8 to 3.0. We also had a slow start with wire and shortened the leads from 48" between the lure and dipsey to 30" and then wire took off. Start out with a mix and see what the fish like. then go with it. Like somone above said there is know set rule. Hope this helps.
  18. First outing in almost 5 weeks and had a great morning on the silver one. Thanks to Jason on the satisfaction Gaurenteed for keeping up the reports on southhaven as we got right back on the fish. Ended up 8 for 9 fishing from around 7 am to 11am. First fish came on the spin doctor and green Ice fly 72 down in 88' of water 17 lb king on the hand held scale. Got the line back on the water and took a double on the riggers one on Mt.Dew spin doctor and a gotcha fly 42' down other came on the blue Dolphin spoon at 62' down. bolth hits came in 104' of water bolth coho. Got lines set back down and took a tripple and landed two. Bolth fish were steelhead. did not see the third. One on the wire dipsey with green crome jensen doger and Green seaweed fly. the other came on the full core on the bloodynose. Made a swing back through the same spot and picked up another steelhead on lead core again the bloodynose. bolth fullcore. last two fish came on the rigger one on the blue dolphin 62' down and 30' behind the ball. the other on the spin doctor on the rigger 42' down bolth kings. All fish came between 88 and 105'. 26 to 29 were the numbers on the gps. Best troll was west northwest. 2.7 to 3.0 mph on the gps and the subtroll. Sorry no good pic as the wife had the camera, I did get a few shots at home as the fish cleaning station was down and had to cut them up at home.
  19. Thanks Jason I appreciate the info. Will help shorten our seach and set up to get into the pattern qucker as not being out in over a month makes you feel blind. See ya on the water.
  20. Im not sure on that one you might want to give wallmart a call. What has been the hot rig spoons or flys? I am going to run bolth but not sure if I should start with spoons or flys on the lead core. Alot of guys wont run flashers on core but it has been real productive for me in the past in the summer months. I hate not haveing been makes me doubt myself and ive been doing this since I was a we buck of around 8. Be the big 4 0 this year.
  21. SWEET Im geeked for sat morning as it will be my first trip out in 5 weeks.
  22. I think he fishes out of St.Joe but im not totally sure.
  23. cool We will be out early in the am on saturday. My brother has one of his daughters boy friends who has never been out and are driving from mendon. Were going to give him the initiation and rules of dating my niece. We thought we might take pictures of our gun collection and show him all of our kills in the deer woods and then go over the do's and dont's of courting. The wind is suppose to be out of the NW from 5 to 8 so we will probobly head north a little and ride the south troll to start. What were the hot numbers lastnight? See ya on the water.
  24. 18 lb Mason lead core with 20lb clear mono backer with 75' of flourocarbon leader. You can order them prespooled from Bettsplace on ebay. He carries all the brands, Penn, shimano,Diawa,Okuma and so on. Reasonable price and no hassle of setting it up. He also will sell the same brands in rods.
  25. The set up looks great Bob. I especially like the custom built wood transium plate on the back. Wood looks nice on anything. See ya on the water.
