Cool pics dude

I second that about hodgemans. I go threw about 2 pair of those for everyother brand Ive had and I go threw them. Im on my third year with a pair of gander Mountain waders and other then my lacross waders these seem to be the best. I have no holes in these yet Dad always said you dont have to be crazy to be a duck hunter, "But it Helps if you are":p

Use Marine Goop. it will fix any waders anywhere. and is flexible as it is a partial polly. Similar to rtv but more durable and is made for exacly this. Most stores will have it and Meijer or wallmart have it in sproting goods or camping area.

Startcraft will not answer you other then to say contact your local dealer as I have been through this looking for a replacement. Dont know what to tell ya as Depending on where you live as to who can help. I ended up taking matters into my own hands and fixed the issues I had myself. I love my Islander, but if I had to rate the company. They suck.

Looks like a good steelhead spoon. What species took this the most?
-
looks good bob I am printing it our and am going to give it a try this weekend

Lead core Hands down. Stinger Jawbreaker out one side Stinger Bloodynose out the other . A second would have to be the Bue/green dolphin. Brand doesnt really matter on this one as the color I belive is the biggest factor. Used D/W, Stinger, Fishlander, Wolverine, no one particular brand outfished the other. Mt.dew spin doctor with a green Ice strong fly is tops as well. Down rigger or wire were very productive.

I to use borax however make sure you use what is called # 20 mule borax and i only do this if im making spawn bags for river steelheading regular boarx has bleech additive an will screw the spawn up. otherwise fresh froze is the most productive way ive found.

Ice Fishing Sled 1995 Polaris
silver one replied to SD800's topic in Classifieds - Buy, Sell, Trade or Rent
Do you have pics as I am looking for a two up sled for my wife and daughter to ride together as My daughter is now 7 and to big to ride infront of myself or wife anymore. -
I to keep regs on my boat however It does not necessarly mean that I interpret them the same as the law makers that wrote them. The legislatures and Dnr officials that write these game laws will even interpret them different as I made a few calls lastnight to two different Dnr posts and got two different interpretations from post staff. A field officer is your best bet for interpretation. Only problem in Allegan county is finding one as we only have 2 that cover the county one on the west side and one on the east side. I left a message with Officer Pat McMannin and one with Officer Sam Wiszinski as I have a card for bolth and neither was able to get back with me lastnight. I will post there interpretation as soon as I get it.

I got ya. I was quoting the tournement comittee from the pro am. I think I stated that they are two different spicies in that same post. But anyway thanks for the clearification. Im still wondering about the lake trout limit? as I still thought to this day it was one. At one time it was one and I belive it was closed for a season or two back in the late 80s early 90s. So not knowing for sure we never took any chances of having more then one per person. Which is ok I guess as we always catch our fair share of fish and try and not keep more then we can eat untill the next season.

Thanks Frank I am hoping to get out on the river after some steelhead this winter as My 17.5 duck boat easily converts to a fishing boat after duck season. I will be heading up this weekend for our last camping trip of the year with the family and im going to be trying my hand at a little stream trout and salmon fishing with my fly rod on the PM in Baldwin.

When did the limit of lakers change as I thought it was still one and if that is the case man did I realease alot of lakers. Boy now after this post im really confused. I tried looking at the salmon guide but im not a lawyer so I dont speek or read polotician real well

After much diliberation I have gone ahead and called it a season on the big lake. Im a football coach and After the second week of August almost never get my boat back in the water. So with that I have gone ahead and pulled the electronics, pulled the bateries fogged and antifreezed the engine and put the silver one up on blocks. I love football but I hate the wait untill next year. So with that I wish you all a succesfull end to this season. I will try and get out on moosekies new 280 sundancer if he ever gets the name Barbie Doll off of the back of it. A little scarey two guys going out on a boat that says barbie doll on the back of it.. It is a real nice boat however and once it is set up for fishing Its going to be sweet. We might be in trouble if we were fishing out of Sagatuck.

That May be so but if im incorrect then why is the limit 5 fish in a combo with no more then 3 Salmon? And Im almost certain it reads no more then 3 chinook or 3 coho. This is the statement in the rules that raises the question of interpretation. I am going to make a call today to the plainwell Dnr office and see if i can get the correct interpretation.
-
I think if you look at the rules in any combination but no matter what not more than one Lake trout this is in the note colum to the right of the page. and I also belive that a salmon is a salmon no matter what species, as that is what was explained this last spring at the Big Jon pro am out of southhaven.. I read it like jason that chinooks and coho are two diffenet species however no matter what way you try and fill a limit your only allowed 5 so to me salmon is a salmon no matter what type and no more then 3.

You can use singles on the J's as long as you use a bead above the hook similar walleye harneses to keep the hook from passing through the hole in the jplug. As far as single or treble hooks I prefer singles however I dont go our of my way to change them all if I did I would be working on it for weeks. I do agree though with your statement of less lost fish. Just my opinion.

This is called Portugese fish boil. I am 50%, as my mother was born and met and married my dad when stationed in the acscors during vietnam. so this is how mom prepared it 1. Big Pot. 2. Big burner In the pot add cabbage. whole red potatos with or without skins, Carrots, whole white onions, Polish Kebalsa, Hot dogs, Any kind of fish you want, obviously I use Salmon cut into strips 2" wide. Boil all together and serve in serving bowl and add on pepper. olive oil and a little whire vinager and serve. Ive had this with red snapper, swordfish. shark. Telapha, Pacific salmon, Poloc and great lakes salmon. pretty good anyway ive had it. When all boild together each has its own unique taste pleasing to the taste buds.

This post could not have come at a better time as I called my dad (super Tramp) the other day and was asking him how we use to can fish and this is the same as his recipe. The only other thing im going to do different is smoke the salmon and then can it. That might be the only thing better with those crakers you mentioned. We do bolth to make salmon patties and sandwich spread and the smoked is awsome right out of the jar. Makes a great snack out there on the river chasing winter stealhead out of the Jon boat.

Oswego 08/19
silver one replied to muskybob's topic in New York Waters Fishing Reports - Salmon and Trout
Way to go bob. That guy who gave the report was definently not from michigan as that would have never been reported over the radio. -
Right on walley express. I also use apple juice in my brine and I love to use pear wood that is a little green to smoke it with. GOOOOD stuff;)

Typically these are used for bouncing bottom for laketrout pulling cowbells behind them. This is a killer tactic espically when your trying to get one more fish to fill your tournement limit. Depending on how deep you are will determine how much weight you want to use. We have used as heavy as 4 oz when fishing deep. Lakers like to hang right on bottom and when fish a bumpy bottom these are great as you wont see the fish on the graph alot of times as they look like bottom structure. The weight bouncing on bottom will stir up the silt and sand and the cowbells will catch the trouts attention. and most times will trigger a strikie. Typically you are dropping the wight off and letting it fall to the bottom. Lead is a natural mineral and will not hurt the lake. or so somone told me;). This is about the only thing I have used them for. Ive never fished them on core. That stuff is heavy enough without adding more weight.

fill the bowl up so that the water is about 1" from being full. I expiremented with this and if you dont use water the edges of the fish will burn and I also noticed that the fish is dryer. Ive been smoking fish along time and have done it with charcole, electric and now recently my new gas smoker and the water in the bowl is a must for fish. Venision It was not as important as long as you keep the temp down as red meat does not burn as fast as fish.
